lol, the db meter can't pickup the XL1 sound @ 5V and only 8-9 db up to 9V ??? Amazing !
Which model is it ? 1000 rpm, 1200 rpm ?

That's not a SPL meter. Anemometer is used to measure windspeed (CFM). The fan is fairly quiet because it isn't moving much air.
