It's amazing how many people support this behavior. I even read one comment on another video response that this was probably a one time thing - that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! I have a small issue with that. He tried to tell her to lay on the bed so he can get her ass and she refused. What was he supposed to do ? waiting til.calm and not in the heat of anger would have been good. What she did was disobey and illegally downloaded stuff after being told not to.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't what she did open a computer or network up to viruses,trojans and hackers? I would think it would. But I believe that he should have thought before reacting as he did.

Texas Law code 9.61: "The use of force, but not deadly force, against a child [...] is justified [when] the actor reasonably believes the force is necessary to discipline the child" So it's true, a child as young as 3 can be beaten mercilessly, as long as the implement of torture isn't life threatening, OR if the parent DOESN'T KNOW the harm they're causing COULD be serious, if the parent believes the child needs disciplinary action, like if they wet the bed? Aransas, Texas. Not Arkansas. You can't just interpret the law based on your emotion toward the girl because laws are impartial. Under Texas code 9.61, he's well within his parental obligation to carry out the method of punishment deemed *appropriate. Now considering her repeated offense, he prevented her for potential jail term. Plus, d/l illegally under your father's nose, who happens to be a lawman? That's like illiterate under a household of a parent who is a teacher.

Because you wouldn't want to be involved in a simple case of a parent exercising their legal rights; especially if the child has 'multiple offenses' you are not aware of, such as not eating their vegetables, or wetting their bed, or being distracted from homework. They may have committed these offenses already so the abuse you're witnessing is justified and isn't wrong. But only in Texas.

Lack of discipline will most likely lead children to lash out, rebel, and disrespect their parents.There is a level of discipline depending on the situation, but also discipline should not lead to abuse.

Well spoken post. This was definitely abuse. The father is raging in a temper tantrum that if done by his daughter, would likely earn her another savage beating. So, he is also a hypocrite. Nevertheless, there is "spanking", and there is "beating," which best characterizes this incident. I have been in homes go "Christians," in which a spanking was given out after the parent gave himself/herself a "time out" to calm down, and the spanking was a totally different affair than the one above.
