@davids7319 I don´t know, but i guess that all "CPUs" are manufactured by one Brand, since, as i´ve said, these are Microcontrollers, not CPUs in normal Terms. A Microcontroller is primary able to -emulate- a CPU.

Reffering to your other anwser: Proably yes, but you have to know that his Microcontroller, specially in this device, handles everything, from emulating a CPU, generating Video, capture Touchscreen, buttons. The only exception is the WLAN, which is handled by another Chip.

@davids7319 Your misunderstood something .VIA is a primary a chipset manufacturer and they use ARM-Technology (the core), which sowrks behind (nearly all) Mobile-specific devices. ARM-"CPUs" are primary Microcontrollers And, refffered to Sladedroid, there -are- really different M001s.

@davids7319 I even have the custom firmware installed (Relax etc), but it stays even with a Swapfile to a SD-Card slow. No, there -are- different Versions of the EKEN M001. They differ in Processor Speed (400-800 MHz), Processor Type (WonderMedia, VIA and antoher one) and RAM-Size (128-256MB). They look all the same and have all the same name.

these devices are pretty easy to update , Eken seems to be one of those makers that is going to stick around , there website has update's for nearly all of its devices with android 2.1 and 2.2 updates just around the corner.

I have one of these on the way to me right now. I mainly wanted an e-reader, but i never get anything that is only good for one thing. Comics, novel, and bubble burst all on the same hand held device, along with internet connectivity, I'd say that feals like the best $80 I've spent in a while.

The video is useless, there's a "high quality" which just has a static image, the other "low quality" has a motion video which is pathetic.

The m001 is very slow, CPU is 300MHz (specs mentioned as 600MHz in most places), I got a used one with a hacked firmware that overclocked the CPU to 466MHz. It has stability issues, in first day or two it worked fine but then started freezing randomly, it's almost useless, not sure what changed.

When you play a youtube video (In the official youtube app) hit menu and then select "Play in normal quality". The video can then be watched. The tablet is not capable of playing HQ videos
