  • Which languages have you learned so far?

  • But Teach Yourself don't specialise in language. You can get TY Philosophy + Psycolodgy ect.

  • The older Made Simple series were very good (and I mean those published originally in the 1970's) For those audio WAS available and I have both the book and audio for their French course. I agree that the new versions are below standard - but that seems to be par for the course with so many modern language courses.

  • Made Simple is AWESOME!!! I have all of their language learning books except Latin which I wouldn't learn because it is dead.

  • @zocurtis I will have to make a video about the Made Simple series because they are not much different from Assimil, except they don't have any recordings.

  • Nice video man, do you use Assimil?

  • @idiomasaur I do not, not because I don't like it but because I have not come across one to buy, lol. I think I will order one off the internet sometime. Loki recommends them to me, so I figure I better take a look at them.

  • You forgot one excellent resource: ambassy !!! I always go to japanese cultural ambassy to rent some books and copy them ! Do you have local bookshops specialized in one language? Here in Brussels we have: italian bookshops, greek bookshops, english, arabic, spanish, russian and polish bookshops !

  • @loki2504 I think Cody lives in a smallish town in Kansas. So it's probably unfair to compare it to Brussels where there must be close to a hundred embassies and also the various multilingual European Union Institutions

  • @boabysands123 I live in a small town in Minnesota!

  • @Codylangaugesblog Hey, I used to live in Minnesota - in a small place called Walker, and later in an even smaller place called Hackensack. It was wonderful living there (except in winter!).

  • @FluentCzech Ha! yea, our winters can be quite harsh, especially in northern Minnesota where it can be -51 Celsius at the coldest. We like to say Minnesnowta sometimes during the winter.

  • @Codylangaugesblog It seems to be the perfect climate to stay at home and learning some languages ;)

  • @OscarP282 haha! indeed.

  • @Codylangaugesblog What the... -51°C? That's crazy.

  • @AndreR241 thats the coldest it ever gets. It doesn't happen often. Its not uncommon for it to be -29 to -9 Celsius during the winter though. Minnesota is right in the middle of north America. We are very land locked and have extreme weather. In the summer it can get as hot as 43 celsius but is usually 29 to 35.

Right at this moment it is 3°C in my town.

  • @Codylangaugesblog So the overall temperature seems to be nearly identical to ours. We have about 10° at the moment.

  • @Codylangaugesblog I didn't know where you live so I gave advices without knowing if you have some ambassies there... Btw, assimil is the most natural way to learn a language !

  • @loki2504 I will have to order assimil off the internet someday then! I have never actually gotten a chance to see one. Everyone says they are very good. They are hard to find where I live.

  • @Codylangaugesblog yea go to amazon they have themthere i love assimil its the best

  • @Codylangaugesblog Oh. My mistake. I guess I haven't watched enough of your videos. I heard you mention Hutchinson and googled it and got the one in Kansas. Though when I heard you say a word with what to my ears is a kind of Canadian lilt I wondered were you from nearer the border. That said, I can't imagine you're overflowin with embassies in Hutchinson. ;-)
