I think Raul Gimenez very modest person. He sang not less than twenty years leading roles in belcanto , Mozart, Massenet but not enough information on the Internet about him ,only from old booklets. And it presently when the singer who has sung two opera roles, opens the fan clubs and calls "stars".

Florez is hardly 'goaty' as you so rudely put it. He has a lovely shimmering tone and to call that goaty is an affront to good singing. By contrast Gimenez 'reaches' quite a bit, which is an unhealthy technique.

An affront? Everyone in the biz knows that Florez whilst whinnying up to top notes quite well ( incessantly I might add) his voice is quite monochromatic and yes very goaty and pinched. This is why he shall find himself unconvincing in anything else but well fast Rossini. And yes Gimenez here is a bit reached but he was getting on and is well over 45 in this rendering.

'whinnying'?! Maybe Florez is not as good outside of Rossini, but in that he is absolutely masterful. The tone is NOT pinched; he is singing with good support and the tone is exceptionally lovely.

It's just amazing that whenever true talent comes along there are people like you who pick away at it. The point of 'bel canto' is that it is beautiful and agile: Florez to a T.
