"where's the other guy?" lol, little did scott know that he would forever be known as "the other guy" for the rest of his life. man, scott really got a raw deal being in blink...he was an awesome drummer too.
i agree, they could have got big with scott, he was a good drummer, and suited them when they started out. travis just happened to join when they were on the brink of making it big. thats why dude ranch is awesome, they wernt too commercial but were well known. proper skate punk. now they are the poppiest of punk and their drummer is overrated and plays hip hop with a load of dickheads, and 13 year old girls go their shows and get their tits out
they got more success because they became pop. they couldve done that without travis you fuck tard. scott's style was much punkier and much more uptempo. travis does fancy little symbol work...not punk...at all. travis is a great drummer don't get me wrong...but not even close to beating scott on the punk scale
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
not trying to start a fight or anything, but i think travis is way tighter than scott even when playing those fast punk beats, he just prefers to make everything a bit more interesting
@gayheroforhire Hey stupid ass, I'd like you to show me exactly where I said that his cymbol work is hard. That's right I didn't. I just said it's poppy. So take the time to look before you put words in my mouth and your foot in yours. Ignorant bitch
@LittleMissCutThroat But Blink 182 are not "punk"...they are pop-"punk". They wouldn't be Blink without Travis, I don't really think that needs to be debated.
pop punk is just a subgenre of punk. they're not just pop along or theyd be boys like girls. they still have the punk element of speed and simplicity which was showed much more with scott...and they were still blink before travis they can do it again..thats were the best songs came from..before travis..all they need is mark and tom...travis is a good asset tho
Scott was rad. You could so tell how they treated him though. He was probably thought of him as just a guy needed to drum and didn't care about friendship. :(
Scott was kicked out of the band because he had a drinking problem got kinda emo and only would go to the big shows. He skipped smaller ones and that is when mark and Tom met Travis because they were touring with The Aquabats. Travis filled in for some shows and Mark and Tom realized that Travis was the thier drummer. Oh, and to that other guys comment. Scott was originally a Metal drummer. Travis makes a much much better punk drummer by far and is one of the best drummers out there.
I prefer scott too, I know what punk drumming sounds like and if you read my comment correctly you would understand that I said travis doesn't fit into that style and scott is better at it. :p
@cooperhortonmusic yes they would, they had a fair bit of success from Dude Ranch, so no matter what Enema of the State was going to be quite big regardless. Sure i think they wouldn't have had as much success without him, but they'd still be quite successful. Travis is given a little too much credit, because before the recording of Enema, Mark and Tom already to planned to change the way they wrote songs. they wanted to progress and have new rhythms etc.
@queerp You think half the songs would have been nearly as good with Scott after Dude Ranch? Their latest record would be non existent...all scott could do was play fast
@cooperhortonmusic what i think is that they would have had plenty of success either way. I think since they got Travis for Enema, their sound obviously changed and ultimately i'm sure quite a bit of the fan base was changed. Most punk band drummers play like Scott and can still become big. Rancid's drummer wasn't anything special either, but they were a big band. I do agree they wouldn't be nearly as big, but i still think they'd be pretty rich and playing good size shows though.
scott is/was a great drummer,i the years 1992-1998 he was perfect for blink, just high school feeling,(buddha, cheshire cat, dude ranch)-hanging out with friends after school out, enjoy the summer and more,i like the first times of blikn, but travis is a cool guy,i like him too,but scott was funny. He wrote(or parts of it) the song -I wont be home for christmas.-,he´s great for songs like all from dude ranch and the records before.but still,blink-182 4ever...
if want see scott talking watch making of dmamit and making of josie, and the videos from the tours with scott,i think there afre on they cmae to conquer.. and the urethra chronicles 1,sad that scott left, travis is okey, and a ncie guy too,its blink,
scott was kicked,i know, but he went to a college, but the right answer just - there are 3 guys who can say the true of that sad story, scott mark and tom.easy,is it?
first time i heard scott talk...

It's funny you say that Scott Raynor was a metal drummer, because I could always tell Scott used very metal style playing in his drumming. XD

no way is travis barker is a better punk drummer than scott, travis barker is more technical, punk doesnt seem to fit his style of drumming
