This is a lot better than the Chen style push hands. Real stuff! I like it!
Chen Xiaoxing never made it to the National push hands and only use his BIG brother, chen Xiaowang's name to teach... His son Chen Zhiqiang does the same thing and paid for his whole team to compete in the san shou competition and beat his own students. Sad that Chen Taiji doesn't do some real fighting!
this kind of sparring is just a little part of the whole training process. i made this video in 2005. in 2008 i met some of these guys again... and they became really, really good in tui shou as well as in free fight!
the finer aspect of an art derived from rough approach, just like a Diamond ore need many round of carving b4 it goes for the direction in shape & size.
It's just like peeling onions layer by layer.
Why did I say so ?
B'cos I've gone thru it, comparing with my 1st yrs, 2nd yrs and glad today I 'm more prepare not to use FORCE against FORCE when handling a stronger opponent.
In fact I'm laugthing at my self thru my earlier practice.
We need to figure out what exactly we're going to learn from this kind of push hands. Are we going to become true masters after this kind of training? What/how did those true masters do in the push hands?
No doubt, this is a good exercise. But this kind of sparring will give students bad concepts habits!
Actually its pretty good practice and healthy sparring and exercise. No doubt they lean into each other alot but people you meet outside are bound to do that to you. Anyway you can see some definate skill and the big guy doesnt always win though hes aggressive.
Ugh! So many mistakes. They all seem to lean into each other and all are using brute body strength. All degenerate into grabbing and pulling and trying to wrestle. Geee, a JuJitsu person can come and teach them a few things. Not very good. They need to go practice the basics come more.
principly right! some of them are beginners and they have to learn much more... that's what they're doing. believe me, basic practice is what they do most. what you see in this clip does not show the whole training - it's just a clip. however, this kind of push hands is also an important part to learn how to handle an aggressiv partner/opponent.
don't know what's that about jujitsu all the time!? for sure an exchange of knowledge is a nice thing, but what's your point? yiquan is a very complex system which teaches principles. no need for additional jj! don't jump to conclusions because of a few minutes videoclip...
... mistakes here - mistakes there ... why not seeing the good part of someth. ... they r practicing and they have fun... whats wrong with that? U can b sure, practicing continiously like that will bring some skills 2. Why always talking about mistakes and theory-theory-theory, just "practice" and it will give u some skill soon or later.
全部用的是上半身的力和前倾重量,这种水平只能和不懂的人玩,意拳的意全然看不到,真给你们师付和意拳门丢人

Good point for wudang :-) Theory is just mind feeding... Having fun is soul feeding... Practising is body feeding... Unity is the key ;-)

They are beginners. I did the same thing as a beginner. However, they really should be playing on grass.

I think it's still better than the Chen Tai Chi in Chen Xiaoxing's school in Chen Village.
