  • I hate this version, if I wanted to hear Patty sing I'd buy her CD. She is such an attention whore. LOVE the Boss, even before that witch came along.....my ears bleed when I hear her in the background.. omg I hate IT!~! am I the only one?? The first time I saw E Street she was not a part of it....if I werent such a loyal fan Id never buy or go see him again but alas, ive been going for 30 years...I just tune her OUT

  • Clarence looks like he's going to go and roll around with a bunch of naked french guys after the show

  • Wonderful performance!!

Totally agree with the comments concerning Patti: she's awesome in this video.

And this was shot just a few miles from my home!!

    VIVE LA FRANCE!

  • Why the fuck did Clarence have to die? I love him so much; and his little dance in this song reafffirmed my love (not that is needed reaffirming)

  • Stevie came on for the encore at the English gigs and Bruce would say The whole family is here now. Went to 5 of them and they were awesome, even celebrated my 21st Birthday around Wembley Saturday and then Leeds on the Sunday- Such Glory Days!

  • 4:17 Clarence spinning got me through my whole crappy day of work today. Just kept on visualizing that and the song and was like F this place...life is good!

  • I friggin love Bruce....but Patti...blah

  • were gonna miss you big man

  • I wish I had two of whatever that black guy was taking at 4:17

  • @mrcrossingguard "That black guy"? Really?

  • RIP Clerance

  • Nah... it's not "music/sound" mixing, daddu... and trust me, I know. It's Scialfa's vocals. Note the spelling, as wel (sic). :)

  • Love Patti's vocals on this :D

  • Those of complaining about Scalfia's vocals either don't know shit about music/sound mixing or just don't like her.

If you're referring to her vocal at 3:30, she's actually on key but her part is just ONE of several harmonies (that are heard on the original recording) and so it sounds awkward or "off" since she's singing [them] all alone.

It also doesn't help that her vocal mic is mixed (onstage) pretty high making her note seem even more "out there."

  • i loved 1985!

  • I'd sell my kidney to be have been in this concert

  • IF YOU ARE CONSTIPATED,START LISTENIN' TO BRUCE DAILY AND YOU'LL SHIT YOUR PANTS FROM JOY!IT REALLY WORKS!

  • i cant even imagine the rush Bruce is having while performing in front of all those people!!! Incredible!

  • GREAT SONG BUT PATTI DESTROYED THE BACKGROUND VOCALS !!!!!!! GOOD HEAVEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! I THINK SHE IE HOT AND ALL BUT SHE SHOULD PROBABLY STAY TO BRUCE;S LEFT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @joecas61 Finally someone said that..but she's always going to be in the band..she's bruce's wife...she's recomended!!!!!!!!!!! Long live the boss and the houserockin' e street band!

  • Yep.....I'm very jealous! But only because she gets to sleep with Bruce every night!!

  • Yep.....I'm very jealous!

  • Crimen Sollicitationis

  • Bruce Springsteen is the BEST ENTERTAINER of our time,, and he deserves a LifeTime Achievement Grammy award,,even though he still entertaining..lets recognize this enormous talent and thank God for giving him to our generation !!!! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce

  • This guy's pretty good. Almost as good as Justin Bieber!

  • @thutton67 or like 1000000000 times better?! ;)

  • @anner92 Nah, Bieber still has the edge. But it's close!

  • Not that we don't like her, she is just not that great of a singer. What are we supposed to be jelous of not being that great of singer or singing out of tune. As my dad says she tries and is a good wife

  • wow nice!

  • The other thing that i liked about this was the choreography, Tthis is 25 years ago -would I swap Soozie Tyrell's vocals for Patti's ..no Patti's are raw and different-call them off key if you like. My other memory of this fantastic song was that at Wembley, between the first verse and the second Bruce turned to his own image on the Big Screen and shouted "Hey You". Check it out on the (audio only)recording of the Independence day Concert.

  • im jealous

  • Great post, but Patti was way off key

  • Love It Today

  • patti is awful...

  • Out for the night with my old friends... the guys gonna take the city... Gonna start just in the place where I'll miss you more... 8888k... when I am in the street, girl... well I can even feel alone...

  • Clarence looks like he's having a fucking good time!

  • @MajorBiz2008 I rather say the whole band is.

  • Bruce is a goof.

  • 8 people had seizures and clicked dislike by accident.

  • I am thoroughly entranced by Garry Tallent's jacket. It's...stunning.

  • ADDICTING I listen to this EVERYDAY .. sometimes to many times:0 ,this song brings me to life like no other song can :)

  • Ay la Patti,,ya le andaba haciendo los cros...No sabe nada.....

  • He is the epitome of Talent, Sex Appeal, and Charisma

  • Is this Paris show on a DVD or something?

  • @OhioRails Yeah search for Breatheless in Paris. It might be on rapidshare or something. I got it on torrent a while back. It's 3 dvds. :D

  • er ist der größte aller zeiten....

  • Hey I bet you can't find the hidden message on my CHANNEL!!!!!! GO BRUCE!!!!

  • Bruce puts on a good show but I don't care about cars, badlands or the landscape he thinks he writes so well about. But I love Out on the Street and Atlantic City and Hungry Heart and Glory Days .. usually just one song a record. So you see one doesn't have to be pro-boss or anti-boss .. one can just like a few of his songs and live a normal life and then go back to the truly great artists - such as Neil Young (66 to 1980), The Replacements (1881-91).

  • @11xzxzxz

Have you ever listened to "The River?"

  • @wafflecrisp25 I never bought the River. I had his 1st 2 but was turned off by the over-produced break-through Born to Run (sick of that song after 10 listens) and Jungleland. I think the River is better as it has Out on the street and the great hungry heart and The River is a good song ..

  • @wafflecrisp25 Of fuck I am repeating what I said a month ago but at least you know I am giving my honest assessment. also, Cadillac Ranch is just OK, imo. I generally just like one or two songs from every CD and I have seen his energetic act in person. I really like Atlantic City a lot but the rest of Nebraska I'm not sure if I like. Tunnel of Love is also great.

  • @wafflecrisp25 Not sure if my other ramblings are getting through..HA. If you have anything to recommend , sure I am open-minded but it's not as if I don't know a lot of Bruce..also I love Lonesome day .. great imo, but not the song The Rising or the most of that record..

  • @wafflecrisp25 I sometimes think "did Little Steven write much or at all with Bruce"?. I think Steve is a good writer and kept Southside Johnny from fading away. Also I like Dancing in the Dark.

  • io ero a milano. FANTASTIC

  • He's definately The Boss. I just love the attitude

  • where was little steven?

  • he left the band in 84 i think.

  • @mrchappelow3 It may have been before that. Men Without Women came out in '82 and he toured in support of that.

  • @mrchappelow3No , already In 1981!

  • @heeler101 he was doing his "Sun city, america against apartheid" during this time :)

  • @heeler101 Little Steven left the band before Born in the USA album and tour. Bruce decommissioned the band in 1989 and gave each member $ 2 million severance pay. He recommissioned the band in 1999 and Little Steven rejoined the band. In the mid-nineties, the band came together temorarily to record some cuts for an album Bruce was putting together. All during the nineties there was speculation as to IF the band would reform. Thank God it did.

  • @heeler101

Steven was busy whit his solo album- remenber "Bitter Fruits"?- later her in 1999 he joined the E-streetband again- now also including Nils Lofgreen, who replaced Steven on the Born in the USA tour 1984-1985

  • Comment removed

  • @heeler101 but he did guest on some of the encores in Britain the week after. I was lucky enough to see him come out and do Two Hearts,Twist and Shout/Do You Love Me? at the end of the 4/7/85 set at Wembley Stadium..it was magic..

  • @heeler101 Stevie left the band in 84... that's when Bruce Brought Nils Lofgren in... He also wrote that song Bobbie Jean for Stevie and released it on Born in The Usa...his goodbye to stevie... stevie went solo and then came back on the reunion tour.... damn Bruce is so young looking here ...LOL

  • Oh oh oh oh oh oh!

  • That's kinda funny about the list that's "long" concerning "brain dead entertainers." Any idea why the list is so long? 'Cause a bunch of brain dead politicians got the U.S. into the Iraq war, that's why. Despite many U.S. retired generals telling us not to. Despite the world telling us not to. Entertainers aren't dumb and lot of them echo what most sane people are thinking. That "war" will mess up the U.S. and Iraq for decades.

  • superb

  • vieni a milanoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • If I was Bruce's wife back then, Patti would be so gone. Definate attraction on both sides. I'm glad they ended up together

  • Awesome. I love the back and forth between Patti and Bruce. Patti is great.

  • The chemistry between Bruce and Patti was undeniable even back then. No wonder they ended up together.

  • patty so in love with bruce here. this is priceless. the big man running and dancing...aw it gets no better than this

  • it makes me smile to see the big man dancing around like that

  • I am not a big fan but I really like about 10 songs by the Boss and this is one of the ten. He really taps into something .. perhaps my mind. I'm not sure.

Max is not the drummer Moon was but he is one of the very best.

  • I love the damage Max does with that little drumset, good example 1:02-1:08,you see these huge drumsets like Tommy Lee,Neal Peart,Keith Moon & others,I Know Moon needed a big set to fit his dynamite,so are those huge sets actually needed?Max seems to do all right the the wal-mart special,I know it's not a wal-mart special, just kidding, some drum expert might let me have it

  • you don't need a huge drumset to sound good. you need talent, and max surely has a lot of it. though the beats are not too complicated, he just got a certain style that is remarkable and awesome.

  • That telecaster is the coolest guitar in the whole wide world! Really amazing!

  • bruce u are just magic....my hero,myself singer

  • Bruce Springsteen is great.

  • One of my favorites and probably a very underrated song.

  • Patti ROCKS !!! Hope she comes out with another album soon

  • I beg to differ,,Patti has plenty of musical talent and writes awesome songs as well,,geesh this tape is 25 years ago ...when Patti and Bruce do a duet like Tougher then the Rest or Kingdom of Days,,Brilliant Disguise etc it is awesome!! I guess it is a matter of opinion and musical taste..In my opinion she is very talented musically !!! GO Patti !!!! And Yes Bruce wrote Trapped.

  • I agree Lucy, Patti is very musically talented and sexy to boot.lol Those who pick on her are just jealous.

  • @BillsFan268 totally jealous!

  • Comment removed

  • OOPS Bruce didn't write Trapped,,Jimmy Cliff did back in 1971..Bruce's version is AWESOME !!!!!

  • U know Patti plays guitar? 4 sum reason she doesn't on this tour but he needs her on stage. She was at every Bruce Show I've ever been to and she has a lot of talent listen 2 her voice. She's a better singer than Bruce

  • Bruce's most underrated song.

  • agreed. it may be my favorite song live

  • Steve van Zandt was doing a radio show in tower records in Dublin the day after he played at the rds an a man behind us said that he's seen Bruce at least 200 times and that the show in Dublin was the first outside of America and his first show was during the River tour! If I had the money I would do it but I don't cos I'm only 14! btw love Bruce

  • GO-GO-GO BIG MAN !!!THE GREATEST sax player EVER!!! Out on the street on a summer nite with your favorite girl makes a man feel TEN FEET TALL!!!! THANX BRUCE!!!!

  • Bruce and the band get better with every passing year. Would love to see him live after seeing him on tv in glasto.

    Immense!!

  • fantastic at Hampden

  • it was immense at Hampden too! 2nd song in magic!!!

  • Comment removed

  • IDk why people think this was his better years.. I wish I could've seen him back then (I am only 17 and seen him 13 times)..

But, he is amazing i think in tour right now.. Couldnt be much better than he alrdy is.. :P

  • Yeah, I would see him every single time if I had the money :P

I atleast see him everytime he comes to my state.

  • wow i realy wish i was you i mean ive seen him once but 50 times WOW

Im also so amazed that a 5 Y/o could find this on youTube and have the ability to comment so linguisticly i wish i was as cool as you.

But im afraid i dont envy the hearing problems your "young" ears will be subjected too.

    PRICK!

  • He's allowed to talk to the audience u know.

  • But he's not talking to the audience. He's "preaching" to his audience. He needs to shut the fuck up and sing. At $100 a ticket for around 3 hours of entertainment, it racks up pretty quick when he's droning on about the Iraq war and his hatred for Bush. All of these brain dead entertainers need to shut it. Bono and Sean Penn are two more assholes who need to shut it. Tom Morello is another. The list is long.

  • wow!! i saw him sing this at glastonbury on tv too--fabbuuulous! go bruce! :)

wot album is this from? i've never heard it before, (at least i don't think so)

  • The River 1980

  • its from the river... fantastic album..... he was immense at glastonbury, but hey thats what we've come to expect!

  • Mamma mia quanto stona la Scialfa!!!

  • I( have a ?. Why dont Bruce ever ply lets be friends ( Skin to skin) live?

  • cus it's a bad song

  • fantastic song....

  • haha at 0:38 he's like how u doin' man? to someone in the audience

  • Cuz he is the boss! Like at the show in Manchester UK in May 2008 he was asking the audience what songs they want to hear! :D

  • Lol, It's funny

  • awesome!

  • I wasa estatic when he opened Giants stadium with this on 7/28/08,,hope it makes the song list for DC may 18th 2009

  • if you dnt like it , why fucking click on it you prick !

  • my favourite american

  • Clarence the big man what a buet

  • blow me dr leppeer

  • You know ... I still think that Billy Joel is the better musician, because I grew up on Billy and admittedly have only listened to a handful of Bruce's songs. But it's quite clear that no one, bar none, can ever be better than he is live. Ever. I think now I can finally tell people that I know why he's called the Boss.

    Because he's AWESOME.

  • Real nice Aervane, real nice :)

  • Terrific contribution, thanks !

  • Maybe you should take your criticism elsewhere. There are massive amounts of people around the world that like Springsteen--and I doubt that it's for naught. I believe he's one of the most talented musicians of our time, and that the fame he now has is well-earned.

  • That aggressive marketing campaign you speak of was only enacted because they knew they could make money off of it. No doubt they took in more money from albums sales than they spent on marketing. And you know why they sold so many albums? Because it's good music that people want to listen to!

  • Wow yet another awesome song from the boss, oh wait all his songs are awesome!!!!!!!!!!

    Springsteen forever!!!!

  • I've been to his show to Paris 4 months ago !

    It was Brillant !!! =D

  • meet me out in the street, .. I´ll be waiting for you. awesome!!

  • best songg ever! ggo bruuuccceeeee

  • There is no one better then the Boss. this songs like most makes you feel emotion down to your soul. If you have busted your back to make a buck then this songs is for you.

  • I was so happy when this opened the second night at the Emirates.

  • bruceeeeeeeeeeeee is amazinggg yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa deven leal thinks bob segar is better but nooooooooooooooooo he fucken sucks

  • Go, Clarence! (NJ)

  • He is really ucking good i like him much !

  • the greatest band in the world with the best frontman!!!

  • what album is this song from?

  • the river

  • This Song (ROCKS)!!!!!

  • the best song i've ever listened to..it's true..when you're out in the street, you walk the way you wanna walk, you talk the way you wanna talk..

  • Listen to the chorus to "Trapped." Same concert paris 85. Patti is awesome

  • her voice isnt up to par with the song. she just sounds off haha. great song

  • Is impossible find something better. Nike sais "impossible is nothing", but I have reason. Is Impossible find something better.

  • i dont notice a difference patti or no patti it doesnt really matter!?!?

  • Patti is by far the worst member of the band. The person below me must be crazy.

  • Who was Patti??? Is the singer Patti?? That singer sucks

  • His Wife

  • Patti sucks at singing? you're out of your mind. Listen to "Trapped." Same concert and everything. Paris 85. Listen to her during the chorus. k? thanks

  • shes pretty good actually

  • Patty is the BEST thing that has happened to Bruce and E Street Band !!!

  • Patti is the best thing that has happened for Bruce..period.. They have a family together and have built a life. No wonder people commented on the Chemistry that was there in'85... I think it is still there musically and in the life they have together.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Patti is a bad lead singer.

She should just stick to backing vocals.
