you can play without it.. but when u purchase wii sports resort, u get the free motion plus anyway.. but if you find it heavy, then dont bother using it.. the only bad thing will be, the motion wont be as advanced as the motion plus makes it.. it'll jst be normal

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but since you claim that the Wii doesn't have any good games, it leads me to believe you don't even care about the Wii at all.

I own all three current gen consoles my my Wii's library is by far the largest. Yes, the Wii is well known for it's motion controlled success, but it has many hidden gems that are not just mainstream. And I thought that it was the hardcore gamers that knew about the hidden gems of a console.
