  • Find a HK motor equal to an AXI 2820-12 and use an 11x7 electric prop 3 cell 3500 mAh. should do the trick.

  • Thanks for the reply. I've been reading a lot of complaints about Hobby King motors. Things like "flying apart at high speeds" and loose parts, etc.

Here's a question: with all the motor choices out there, how the heck does a guy know which model number to select? There are 3008 and 2812 and....you name it. I know I'm old but it was simpler when the plans said "use a .35 gas engine".

Guess I have a lot to learn.

  • I tried it with the prop shown. Either too much prop or my battery was too much for the motor as when I accelerated, past half throttle, it make a cogging/squealing noise. So....I will try some different props.

  • How did you like the Hobby King motor? I'm about to get my 48" wing version ready for spring and am trying to decide which motor/prop/ESC/battery pack to use.

Now that you've flown yours for a season, which motor did you use and would you use it again? What ESC and battery pack and where did you buy them from?

    Thanks so much!

  • @Guitarplar the small motor did not work out so well. I was getting a weird vibration/squeal and I think it was because the motor was out of synch in high speeds. I am going to drop in a Hyperion motor in and that will work great for 3 cell using 11x6 or 12x6 APC.
