  • such a divine cover. i still have this on the Bside of the The Reflex. my goodness - i spent so many nights in the 80's listening ot this - it's a wonder i can still play the freakin' record ;)

  • this was better than the reflex, great cover better than original great memories

  • omg thank god i found this song...

  • Fucking Brilliant song...

  • I will always love this song. Wish they'd play it this year!

  • As far as cover versions go, this is right up there with Roxy Music's Jealous Guy. It helps when your band has a really kick-arse rhythm section, and Duran Duran totally own this song now. Perfecto!

  • This is one of the Best Songs Ever. Without a Doubt. God I love them!

  • God bless Duran Duran!

  • I feel the same as your mother! Thank you so much!

  • This is my "happy song" :)

  • Not everyone could take a glam-rock song, modernize it, and come up with something so beautiful without losing its original magic. This never grows old for me!

  • 80s was the best decade for music no other can beat it

  • always loved this song

  • i used to play this more than the reflex

  • nick rhodes and john taylor woodrush school hollywood birmingham.....wicked boys your the bollocks see you at the birmingham nec arena this may 2011 for the mayhem..........respect and regards from your main geezer

  • proper band...the biggest and best band to come out of birmingham ever.......nick rhodes lived 5 minutes from me in hollywood and john taylor is the main geezer.........goodluck to you boys see you at the nec this month for your home city mayem gig..........your m ain geezer the vampireggez!

  • its from yourself that you have to hide"!!!!! love my DD boys

  • Would have loved 2 be there....but I was only 10 at the time:-(

Great extended version of a classic !!!!

  • I went to an all girls school where it was divided between (us) Duranies and (them) Whamies.

I was besotted with Nick Rhodes and would dress like him and have my hair the same styles as his, we always got hassle from the Wham fans who would always say Nick was gay.. so guess who got egg on their faces when George came out!! lol

  • LustingSvenska I know exactly how your mum felt, Recapturing happy times from your youth through music is so powerful and personal. I was very touched by this story bless you for giving her back a special moment in time.

  • although i love the original, this is a fucking amazing cover

  • The piano in this song isn't pre-recorded. It was performed by Saxophonist Andy Hamilton, who also did percussion as well.

  • when i was 12, a girl i liked gave me a cassette of Duran and i instantly knew there was something about these guys and their music. i have been a huge fan ever since. when i was in my teens i wanted desperately to be simon lebon, i even had a haircut like his. i only recently heard this song believe it or not but now i have made it a cover of my own.

  • I love this cover by Duran, but why can't Nick even play the piano part himself. It is pre-recorded. Look at him here pretending to do stuff at the start when the piano is playing. He is doingnothing, just trying to look like he is. He ha no confidence playing live. Ever see him throw his hands up in his solo on Girls on Film on the Live In London DVD. Pathetic solo LMAO. He also needs sheet music when playing live (just watch the making of RIO DVD live performance) 2 remind him of chords.

  • @FlashGrinter The piano on this live version was performed by Andy Hamilton along with the Saxophone and percussion.

  • My favorite!

  • Love this version and I wasnt a duran duran fan but i think rocked it!!!!

  • I remember having the 7 inch single of The Reflex - this was on the B side :)

  • I will never forget this tour, it was so exciting! The non-stop screams for the band were just deafening, what a crazy time it was for all of them! So fun, I wanna go back to 1982 and do this all again!

  • best song, yay! thanks!

  • May be my fav live performance of this song. Perfect!

  • I don't know if someone can understand me...

I have been in London this summer. I have always loved DD and so I went to see Hammersmith Odeon one day...

DD played there a lot of times

Believe me, I'm not a teenager anymore but....It has been like to come back in the time. I know I'm crazy, because I'm talking about 1982...but in that moment I was a 16 years-old girl who was with her friends waiting for the concert...waiting for THEM.

I don't know if is this normal or not.. you tell me!

  • Probably one of the greatest Duran Duran b-sides ever. Got it on the collectors item Reflex picture disc when I was about 12 or 13.

  • One of the best cover versions ever. From of the greatest bands ever.

  • One of the best cover versions ever.

  • this is wonderful..i knew my mother was always a big Duran Duran fan when she was ateen,(whos mother wasnt right? hehe) but i was just searching thru YouTube and saw this,i called her over to watch and you know, she fell silent..her eyes began to smile and i saw tears form in them,at first i thot she was upset, then i saw it...the years vanished from her face and she was 15 again..and the world around her dissapeared...i am glad i was able to,even if for a short time, take her back in time...=]

  • @LustingSvenska awww, that's so awesome! Your Mom & I are probably pretty close in age then & when I was 13 these guys were my world. Listening to them cover a song like this was always a special treat & hard to find on tape or vinyl (CDs weren't around yet)....listening to this is making the yrs vanish for me as well. It's cool that my 9 yr old loves them now too, tho she trips out that Simon looks so "old" now..she thinks he was hot back then...He was, they all were. :) Hug yer Mom for me! ;)

  • @cowgurlhank I think they're still hot. Especially Simon and John, though my favorite was and will always be Roger... He's showing a bit of age in his face but his body is AWESOME.... bigger guns than in the old days :D

  • @MissVfromCali I agree, they are aging well & will always be gorgeous to me. Roger does look amazing today! :)

  • @LustingSvenska I am right there with your Mom! They always take me back, and yes, make me smile!

  • @LustingSvenska

I think that is one of the loveliest comments I have ever read. Also very true. I have been a fan sine I was 12. I saw them for the first time in July 09 and I am going again in May. I dont imagine they will play this, which is a real shame. It was a B side to The Reflex, and a cover of an original song by Cockney Rebel. But they make it their own and they sound amazing. Duran Duran were my Beatles. They defined a time of my life.

  • @russell0769 I so agree with you! They were my Beatles as well! I saw them for the first time at 14 in 1984 and them again many times throughout the years! I even went to see them while I was about 6 months pregnant and my husband surprised me with 5th row seats! I swear John Taylor winked at me and rubbed his belly!!! My daughter cam very close to being named Rio! hahaha! This video can still bring tears to my eyes!!!

  • @LustingSvenska

Your mother and I must be so similar! I did the same thing when I found this video! This particular song holds a special place in my heart, and I couldn't believe I found it on youtube!

  • @LustingSvenska

I'm really touched by reading your words! I'm also a mom like yours, and every time I watch a video of Duran Duran drops a tear on my face, and I remember the good old days ... thank you, bye!

  • @LustingSvenska At its best, that's what music is all about.

  • @LustingSvenska

Really enjoyed your words above and it echo's what every Duran fan feels when they hear the boys

  • @LustingSvenska

Really enjoyed your words above and it echo's what every Duran fan feels when they hear the boys

  • @LustingSvenska I'm right there with ur mother!! I was a HUGE Duranie "back in my day" (I'm almost 40 now) And I 1st heard this song when I was in 7th grade & feel in love with it & them!!! They were my 1st concert when I was 12, & I get to see them finally again in Oct!!! They still make me smile & bring a tear of nastalgic joy to my eyes!! <3 :o)

  • @LustingSvenska Thank you for sharing that! from a Mom

  • @LustingSvenska that's awesome! :D I love this song, it's one of those that makes me want to cry, but smile at the same time. It gives me chills just to watch this!

  • if you want to skip intro 2:21

  • One of my favorite groups and songs!

  • when the reflex came out i played this more than the a side.

  • Masters of their craft..........

  • Like thissong very much!!! Duran Duran is very talented!!!

  • just fantastic !!

  • Better than Steve Harley's version!!!! xxx

  • thanks so much for posting this. it was always one of my favorites of theirs.

  • Simply the best of thebest pop bands of all times

    Love u guys!!!

  • ANDY ROCKS!!! Always has been one of the best songs they did - even though it's a cover.

  • Great version - thanks for postinG!

  • I agree with abeautifultomorrow, they belong in the Hall of Fame. They are 30years in and still making music and filling stadiums for concerts. Gosh, if Madonna can get in surely Duran Duran should be in. Give me a break.

  • Remember seeing this many, many years ago on 'Rock around the clock.'

Great version - thx for posting!

  • I saw Duran in concert at Villa park in Birmingham. They were supported by Robert Palmer. Great show.

  • If I remember rightly this was the 'B' side track to the reflex single, such a great great version, Steve Harley actually preferred this to his own

  • Yes it is the B-side to The Reflex and IMO is the first time that the B-side is better than the A-side. How this song did not get more exposure is beyond me, one of Duran Duran's best. That's just my opinion though.

  • I have searched years ago for this...best song ever..Duran duran did this awesome ..I heard it on radio ONCE!

  • Just love DDs version of this ever since I heard it on the B side of Reflex 12" all those years ago. Brilliant stuff!

  • I can't get enough of this clip! This song was off my radar for so long, what a treat to see this performance! I think I also saw it performed at one of the Atlantic City shows in 2005 but not sure which one.

  • I have seen them live about 50 times since 1985 and only seen this song performed 1 time live- summer of 2005 House of Blues Atlantic City NJ (and that was the original 5)

  • As long as I've known this song, I've never known that they had a video to it. THANK YOU to whomever put this up. I am truly grateful.

  • Oh swoon...

I can't believe I've never seen them live. It's one of the top things on my bucket list.

  • Number one on the "Top Nine At Nine" in Houston for about two months back in the the day.

  • @jhardwick1969 Really? What station was this? I've lived in Houston all my life and never heard this until I bought my (now-)wife the first singles box a few years back.

  • Duran Duran deserves to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

  • @abeautifultomorrow indeed they do!

  • @abeautifultomorrow NOW AND STILL ONE OF THE BIGGEST DURAN DURAN FANS EVER WILL NEVER CHANGE TILL I DIE AND MY SONG AS MY FRIENDS CARRY ME UP TO MY RESTING PLACE!

  • I still don't know why they never recorded this. Ah hearing this for the first time on the Reflex 12" *sigh*

  • This gives me shivers....I remember this song as a 12 year old girl...being in love with Duran since the 1980's ...I had this song on cassette...they make me smile...everyday!

  • Unconditionally and irrevocably in love from 1979 - now......

  • When I see this stuff, I always wonder, where are those girls who were front row? Where are they now? It is so odd. You'd think we'd KNOW some of them. Yet most all have just disappeared. Shame. I'd love to chat with more who had such great seats back then.

  • G-d, we were all so young then. I remember this so well!

  • A treat to see this again - a nice finish to a good gig. :)))

  • Rio & ShoeshineGirl 4 ever !!

  • Oh Blue Eyes!

  • One of my most favorite Duran performances ever!

  • brilliant!!!

  • I know this is not a DD song but it is still one of mine fav. performeses form the band.
