  • At the end when your kid knocks you , you sound like Johny knoxvile from Jackass.

    Nice video quality

  • dad where the koala? :)

  • Bought this cam today and found 1080 on the pc pointless, why? its only any good for playing back on a 1080tv. I also found quicktime did not like the files at all, very juddery and not smooth at all, but i personally have found a workaround that has worked brilliantly for me.

  • I recorded on the best 1080 setting, dragged the file onto my pc and opened it in after effects cs4. I then scaled it down to 1280x720 and rendered it out as a wmv hd file and its very smooth, the colours great and the file is quite small in comparison to a lot of my quicktime files. It took no time at all to do this and it is the result irsonally was looking for, i will post some results when i film something worth watching. I am using a sandisc video hd sdhc card. £300 for cam and memory.

  • What kind of memory cards do the R10 use?

  • I'm using a class 6 8GB card. I've been looking at a 16 GB card myself. I've seen them online at newegg at a reasonable price. Not name brands, but they seem to get good reviews.

  • Yes, I have tried 1080i. I've found that the quality is pretty good, but it seems to drop frames regularly. I've assumed that this is because of my computer, not the camcorder or SDHC card. When I play back the video on the camcorder, there isn't a problem. But when I transfer the file to my computer, I notice jerkiness. How about you?

  • i notice the edges of items look like blocks whenever am zooming in/out or moving from one area to another. so i dont use it at all. i have heard that for this cam a class 6 sdhc is recommended as it will record the file quicker but i havent tried that, i am considering getting a 16 gig class 6 card but i am also looking for a spare battery n they arent even sold by samsung yet. let me know if u get any luck finding a spare battery.

  • I have a similar problem, i can record on all settings and it looks great through the camera but as soon as i transfer it to my PC i get a lot or jerkiness :(

I don't think it's my PC, as the spec is very high compared to the recommended spec

have you managed to solve this problem?

  • I finally sat down and checked out what was going on. It turns out it's my computer. If I have too many applications running, there just isn't enough horsepower to dedicate to rendering Hi Def video. So it was slowing down the video (fewer frames per second) and dropping frames. If I shut down applications, things improve dramatically.

I'm running Mac OS X with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3 GB RAM.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Looks great. How are you keeping the camcorder nice and stable like that? I have the same model and haven't found a way to keep it so stable, particularly when I'm zooming in.

  • well aside from my kid bumping into my hand n making me lose my balance in the end of the vid i hold the camera with both hands whenever i am zooming into an object since there is a zoom control on the LCD. it just zooms in/out slower when using the LCD zoom, also i do use the image stab. on the cam but that doesnt really work to good. have u tried recording in the 1080i formats?
