This was thorough as hell!! They knew it was Wayne Williams!!! It was too premature though...They actually chose a respectable black woman to talk to! So much has changed in our society.
Wes Sarginson, Mark Pickard and Johnny Beckman would eventually join rival station WXIA "11Ailve". Out of those three, Wes and Johnny are retired today and Mark is still with 11Ailve as a reporter.
I do wish the Atlanta stations would go back to this clean style of production. You don't have bugs and logos and flashy graphics all over the freaking screen. You have NEWS.
@scason You know that not going to happened, because yes the screen clutter with bugs and crawls, but this is the 21st century style of news and graphics and the flashy is to draw you in, and those days of yester year are over....

What an interesting open for WSB (and VERY clear for 1981). The presenter listing similar to what most stations which used Telesound's "And You" would use.
Also, the Action News titles look a lot like a late 1980s CBS Evening News title graphic.

Thanks for posting! There's so little out there on Williams and the Atl. child murders. I was a 9 yr. old living in the metro Atl. area at the time this was happening and remember it well. It's one of the reasons I got into the news business myself.

His first go-round at KMGH was about 1982-1984, and his second go-round at what we now know as ABC-7 was from 1988-1999.
His first go-round at KWGN was from 1984 to 1988, when it was an independent station. His round two at Channel 2 Denver was from 1999-2008, when it was a WB affiliate (now with the CW). Both go-rounds were always anchoring a 9:00pm primetime newscast
