I heard Mary O'Hara as a child and she has remained one of my most treasured artists. I'm thrilled to find this video of her Madairin Ruadh as I had never seen her live before, only photos. Excellent!
Found this from Passion Pit- Sleepyheads song which ?? maybe samples her. She is amazing. Also, this is why Youtube is so great. Infinite knowledge and searching with NOT much corporate injection.
I first heard THE FOX (Madairin Rua) on an lp I borrowed from the Library in San Francisco, CA back in the early 60's and I loved Mary's beautiful voice and playing. What a treat to find her here on YOU TUBE, playing the song that I remember so well. Thanks so much!
@erzbet07 I also found Mary O'Hara in the early 1960's and am from SF also. I bought all the albums I could find at the Irish Import store on Geary Blvd, owned by the wonderful Mr. Louis Roche! Still have my albums, but they are worn out... ;0)

I know that Mary O'Hara appeared in a TV programe from UTV. This I am sure for I appeared in the same programme. She had only just left the Convent and wasn't sure what she should wear. It wouldn't have mattered what she wore for nobody had the clarity of voice and diction she had. Maybe you could approach UTV and the video of the show might still be available.
