  • @tjompiskompis I watched this video because it popped up in the suggestion box, and random I watched the first comments. I'm from Moss by myself, pretty funny :D Krapfoss!

No it's not! I live in Norway and this is a common sight in the northern regions of my country. Actually, it can get even more spectacular than what is on display in this video...

  • I'm a Norwegian, and I live in Nordland/ Up North in Norway, and I see the Nothern light sometimes, For a little while ago I was going to bed,I look out , I can see the northern lights dancing across the sky and mountains. (I live in a valley with lots of mountains and forest), I sat there and listened to Pinchcliffe , while I admired the sky. It was so beautiful that I almost cried. It lasted for a quarter. For those wondering: The northern lights appear most in winter when there is a clear sky

  • sorry i have no idea about auroras...thanks anyway :)

  • I live in Norway and I have seen northern lights tenfolds of times, but it's stunning beauty always catches my attention to the very second of it's despair^^

  • nothern lights coming to britain tonight omg cant wait whoop whoop going to sit in the park and propose to my gf under this ;)

  • @ElliotLakeCanada you may take a look on the page norway.org.uk/Embassy/faq/work/

  • @ElliotLakeCanada as long as you get a job and pay taxes, not like everybody else who just abuses the system.

  • only two things i know about them, first the sky explodes then they appear, and they make no noise

  • Just beautiful! I would love to see that in person.

  • this is the religion!

  • trillions upon trillions of atoms from the sun hitting the earths atmosphere, truely an astonishing sight. who can't be taken ayay by that.

  • sucked, all I could see was the graphic!

  • I live in Norway but south.. I wanna go up north one time and see this. :) <3 Love my country

  • omg this is so amazing *_*

  • do the lights move that fast, or is it just ''fast forwarded'', and are they only green?

  • @a110075

This is fast forwarded, but they do move like they are dancing in the sky!

And they can be similar to white and purple: )

  • so it happens all year round? like not only once in 200 years(someone told me tht) x.x

  • @bubbet16 yeah it does ;P all year around... best in the winter tho. but its quite common indeed :)

  • JAE-R - O-S-L-O (Official Video)

  • skjer med folk å ville se nordlys ?

  • seen this quite few times :p pretty amazing, it would be cool if they aksely moved in that speed

  • no the northern light appears in summer too hilsen norsk borger

  • @snocross5544 True but the Midnight sun would prevent you from seeing them they say the best time to see them is from around September to April.

  • mesmerisingly beautiful!

  • WOW!!

One of my dreams, watching it live.

  • it is one of my dreams to it someday. :))

  • it must be memorable experience to see it live :-o

  • I'd like to see it live

  • So magic! Would love to see northern lights once too.

  • Do the Northern Lights only appear in winter? I'm going on a cruise to Norway in the summer and would so love to see this amazing sight.

  • They occur all year round, but in the Summer in high latitudes the nights are very short and north of the Arctic Circle it is daylight for 24 hours so the opportunity to see them can be short or non-existent. In the winter you can have almost 24 hours of darkness. I'm going up to Northern Norway tomorrow and it will be dark from 3pm until 9am, 18 hours of darkness.

  • @ingenioustv Then you could say that you are 6 hours away from the north pole going at the speed the earth rotates.

  • Its only on the winter but a cruise and where i live in Norway where the lights appear so send me a message and i will answer on qouestions

  • @HuntersMoon73 Would you happen to need a bag lady on your vacation? I don't care how many bags I have to carry, just pay for my ticket:)

  • @HuntersMoon73

yes , because it is not darkness in the north in the summer .... but maybe you get to see it :P

  • @HuntersMoon73 i live in Bergen in southern Norway, it'r realy rare thay we have northern lights, but the only ones i've seen have been in the middle of, or late summer

  • @HuntersMoon73 RETARD , IN THE NORTH IS WHERE THEY HAPPEN. IF YOU ARE IN THE NORTHER NORTH HEMISPHERE YOU CAN CHECK IT

  • @HuntersMoon73

    only in winter

  • ive seen the northern lights as far down as iowa

  • ...Breathtaking! Oh, i wish i could see... ~<3 im fasinated by these lights :D

  • How many minus degrees sony ex1 can handle??

  • We had an EX1 and EX3 down to -36c.

  • well i will be cold in Norway so i could go to 13 - i live in Norway where the lights appear ask me of questions if you like

  • ...oh yeah!!!!....its really amazing!!!!1...i wish i could see these in real life!!!!

  • @arzie126 i can see those very often but not that strong and beautiful as that! i live in bjerkvik norway

  • 19raise91.. U can't see Northernlights in Germany.. u only can see in top North of Norway, some part in finland, russia n my brother who live in St.John, Canada told me once, northernlights come in some part of canada as well,, but am not sure.

  • not true! We can sometimes see northern light as far down in Uppland in sweden not far away from Stockholm.

  • YEAH! That happens alot doesn't it!

The Northern Lights have been seen as far south as Denmark and Germany too, but they don't occur that often beneath the artic circle, now do they?

  • Well where I lived it was very frequent. Not unusual at all. We lived outside the city with little light pollution so they seem to occur often beneath the circle to. The arctic circle is a line drawn by man and the sun dont care ;)

  • i agree, apparantly they occur even at the equator every 50 years or so

  • they come in canada quite often if you are still wondering, my dad grew up in saskatchewan and saw them all the time

  • yingfelagund.. yes i do feel lucky to be here,, there is no sound at all.. the Northernlights comes only when the weather is cold like minus degree n the sky must be clear.. like no cloud or rain.. No one knowa when its coming n when its going,, its really amazing..

N1 more interesting thing to live in artic circle is "Midnights Sun" the sun u see at 24:00 hrs.. Here the sun shine 24 hrs 4 two months

  • guess u need special sound receiver. wow minus degree?! is there a season for it? 'cause i read that it comes off most frequent on certain months.

  • They are not always same.. but yes.. it move really fast sometime...It was really specialy on 23th and 24th of Oct 09 as well.. just last week.. it was so beautifull. I live in Sortland which is in Arctic circle.. But onething people thought that its easy to see n it come everynight but its not..

  • do the lights give out sound? u're really lucky to see them. :)

  • does it move that fast?

  • where does the light come from? sun?

  • yes. There are sunparticles that 'crashes' with collides with gasses in the atmosphere. When this happens, there becomes a little light.

  • i think it's all about the sun and the magnetic field around the earth. The sun beams some stuff ( I don't know what exaclty but i think it's because of the 'protuberans' ) into space. The earth uses his natural magnetic field to 'defend himself' against those beams. Only in the northern areas of the earth, the protection isn't that concentrated ( if you know something about magnetics: the earth has a north-south pole like a real magnet) . It's at that place where this fenomenom happens!

  • is the movement caused by a strong wing present?

  • My dream to go here!

  • @jodiemai1987

omg, your dream is to go to....

    Norway? xD

  • @123kawaiigirl123 yes, why? does that bother you?

  • @jodiemai1987

that im tired of Norway because it is boring,

Im a fan of japanese stuff.

    I wanna study there!

  • @123kawaiigirl123 well everybody has their dreams. i know people who're japanese and they love it there. there are many places in the world i would love to travel to but top of my list is norway. hope you manage to get back to japan soon to study :)

  • @jodiemai1987

    why.... -.-''

  • @123kawaiigirl123 haha this conversation does not seem to be getting very far....

  • wow @ 0:40

  • woow...amazing...i want to see this in germany :(

  • amazing!

  • zats fuckin beautiful

  • They are speeded up by about 10 times in the clip. However when you get a very active period you can see the aurora dance across the sky very quickly, not all that dissimilar to what is shown in the video.

  • @ingenioustv Actually I've seen it move across the skies at the speed you can see in the movie. Only twice though.

  • this may be a dumb question to those that have seen them, but in not shure if the really move like that or if the recording is speeded up....??

  • ive seen them in alaska in october and they were actually faster moving than this video. it was the coolest thing ive ever seen in my life. period

  • not a stupid qestion dud....they can actualy go faster than this and slower than this, it varies from time to time...

  • its amazing every time i see it, when im at my grandparents.seen it ones where i live in the midle of the summer actualy...ones in the lifetime or maybe century that a northern light is visible here in halden and at the summer times, lool what is the ods

  • where is that?

  • you asking me, probably up north in the country somewhere, from the midle and up in Norway it is ``normal`` to see it, more and more of those upwards....

  • on the other hand it says karasjok, thats almost at the top on the Norwaegian map, near the border to Finland, Sweden and Russian

  • the northern lights wish we cud be standing underneath it

  • I was lucky enough to work in Norway but never saw the lights.

Beautiful country, wonderful people, you lucky fuckers.

  • du mener vel i minus grader? xD

  • wow, that is soooo beautiful !!!.. i hope to see it for myself one day

  • last time i saw northern light i was in Røros, it was 32- C, had to stay there 1 more day than we was suppous to since the car didnt start in such cold weather :-P

  • ahh, i love to see aurora borealis! :D im never getting tired of it! i can lay down in the snow and just gaze up into the sky ^^

live in norway by the way, and no, aurora borealis (northern lights) is just shown in the winter, and not every day ;)

  • I want to go to Norway to snowboard and see the Northern Lights. I don't like the word aurora borealis, cause Aurora was the name of my ex girlfriend... Ughh

  • I saw it a week ago and it was 20- C really cold at night

  • I was in Karjashok..

  • Amazing video!

  • Are these on like every night?

  • Nah, they come every now and then :)

  • okay...cool

  • That's amazing footage.

  • what equipment or techniques are required for filming or photographing the lights, i will be working in northern bc, canada, later this year, and hope to capture some footage.

    many thanks
