I've seen lots of videos of George and in everyone, he looks like he plays with tension, I refer to hand and arm tension, Have do they seen than? looks his hand position, and look his arm, it seems like he was making some overforce, please answer me !!! ha ha ha
@luistcp1 well for you and the fellow above you, Really like Lynch said he was just jumping in with these guys cold. So when this happens it's usually nothing more than a bunch of random noodling going on, and these guys just didn't have a special chemestry to just burn it down together. Lynch was really out of his element here, and you can tell when he's comfortable with what he's playing by watching other live on the spot videos from him reverting to his pedals is just how he plays. Cheers, IC
This has got some righteous "Just Got Back From Baby's" vibe to it. Rev. Billy F Gibbons influence shinin' on through. And if the harmonica's a bit too hot in the mix, well, hey, it's just an informal little jam, not the cure for cancer. I dug it.
I can't believe there are negative comments about any portion of jam here! I think ALL the guys deserve credit for their roles. Lynch doesn't seem to be out of his element at all - awesome performance!!!!
@phallystorm doesn't he know that he's(the harp player)on the same stage with Mr. Scary and that he shouldn't try to upstage one of the greatest guitarists of our generation? Someone should have explained to him exactly who George Lynch was before they started this jam...
@biffthebassman You are right! Lets face it. A lot of Blues Tunes have easy progressions.A Harmonica player is limited to the range of notes he can play. In essence the harp player usually plays the same riffs over, and over say following an A chord to D to E, then back to A again. George can take his vocabulary of inventive riffs, and create some unheard of textures within a simple blues progression. The harmonica player here seems to not care at all about keeping it fresh. Funny though
@droberts31,I WOULD Just Like to say that what you said about Lynch is the Most Fucking Stupid Ignorant thing that's ever come out of someone's Mouth about a Legend Guitarist,That;s Made it Thorugh every Change in music Since the Early 90's,Since When that PUSSY Kurt NoBrains Came along and Ruined everything with his Pathetic Sound in Music, all those Alternative Bands Sucked they all Done away with Great Lead Guitar Soloing,Why? Because they were not worth a Shit and Couldn't Solo, Pathetic Era
Of course that is a common experience for harp players. Nobody complains when the guitar players gang up on the horns and harps and keys, but let a harp player be too loud once and holy shit!!!!
the harp probably was not too loud, but the camera is right front of the pa speaker, and/or taking a feed from the pa. so it sounds loud in comparison on the video, but in the club it was most likely appropriate.
you know how to shut up a harp player? put a piece of music front of them :)
Another thing missing from the video is the understanding that the harp player in this band played several times with this band during previous years, MOST OF THE TIME HAVING TO COMPETE WITH 4 GUITAR PLAYERS OFTEN PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME, EVEN UNPLUGGING AND WALKING OFF THE STAGE AT LEAST TWICE BECAUSE OF THE TOTAL INABILITY TO HEAR HIMSELF PLAY.
The previous comment by the Rojer guy stating that he told the harp player to turn down 20 times is completely false. The harp player quit the band a few months after this due to his decision to not play with the Rojer guy any longer. Mr. Lynch spoke at length with the harp player after sitting in with the band and told him that of his intentions to do a blues album and have the harp player play on the recording. It is regrettable that the context is missing from the video.
The harp player over-reacted to this entire situation and, admittedly played too loud,
partially in anticipation of Mr. Lynch being very loud, and partially because he was pissed off at the rudeness of Mr. Lynch's posse, who descended on the stage while the band was still finishing their gig.
Context is everything. While the band was playing their last few songs, Mr. Lynch's posse descended on the stage and began unloading his amp, guitar, pedals.
During the break, prior to Mr. Lynch joining the band, Mr. Lynch's guitar tech began to play very loud through the amp, setting the tone for what appeared to be a foretaste of extreme loudness to come.
I completely agree. Harp players are impossible. Sax players too. That's why good blues bands don't have them. If you are lucky your singer can blow that way they can't do both at once. As far as volume goes pedal steel players are the worst.
lynch is labeled as a metal player but lynch has what every great blues player has a vibrato and bending from outerspace!!!!!!listen to blues authority and george kills on that stuff!!!!
Sorry about the harmonica player...it's my band (Rojer Arnold Band) and I told him to turn down 20 times!! Needless to say we don't play together anymore. Come on back George and we'll treat you right. George may not be a blues player but he said he got his start with 'em and thats good enough for me. Also we have the last song he recorded with us and I got the harp player to turn down, I'll upload that in Sept.
Check out my band here on youtube so you don't hold this vid against us.
Actually, it would have been nice if the guy had put in a few tasty licks, but he was stepping all over everyone. All the players should have had the chance to shine a bit.
I gotta say... all you guys complaining about that harmonica player obviously have never sat through hours and hours of 12 bar blues jams at a local spot. Pentatonic scales and 12 bars= very few out of context solo ideas. George built his career out of odd uses of the pentatonic and he's the first to say that. But in blues, that can only go so far. Without other instruments filling the space, a blues jam would bore you to tears in fifteen minutes. Remember the context people... Ty...
george should have just turned around and knocked the harmonica player's teeth out. the camera was here for george and his guitar playing, NOT harmonica. the harmonica is so annoying it ruins then entire jam.
george reaches for the wammy bar and it wasnt there at about 8:51 i got a good chuckle out of that. i think he is just a cool guy man. it aint about whos this or that its just lets jam...and thats the attitude i think george has...he is a cool mofo. would be cool to hang with. kepp rockin george! and tell gerry ganadin your tech he awseome too. he scored me my old 808 tube screamer when he was back home in indiana. thanks Gerry! Curt
The problem I have it tones is the math: if the answer is 6 there are many ways to get to that number. I have three amps and a ton of pedals and a few guitars and to find certain tones takes a long time--as there are many diverse ways to those tones. It's over welming at times. I can see why Iommi spent three weeks in the studio just working on various tones for the albums as the rest of the band got stoned.
The harmonica player is good but he and George are both sticking their dicks out at the same time and playing over each other. A good musician needs to be able to listen and use space and not try and cram notes in those spaces just because it's there. Anyway, it's cool to see George with a Tele...and the Thai Coca-Cola T-shirt rocks!
I agree, and these idiots should of sat back and let George do his thing. This third rate band just kinda looked as if they weren't use to being amongst the greats letting them do their thing.
I just ment not to live only high in light as a good (only by love) bat also as a human being, maybe I'm wrong but I was interesting about how he is real person, how he really souns and how he creates his ,magic, ,open space deep universe , sound in his playing...

Hey try get to the bottom and survive, he his still alive, it's just a little bit deeper inside, don't think that your are living just in heaven, you are real person, aren't you?
I am not sure what you mean by (living in heaven), but yea, you are right he fell down a long way, and was and is still an insperation. Life is a hard place. Hats off to him for all he did do in this life. I just wish some of that magic from the past would come back around. Time has a way of recording the best in people. Hell, i have seen much better days.
the difference between george lynch an srv is mainly this. vaughan was a real blues usician, george not.. george lynch is just an heavy metal guitarist who loves to experiment his music with different styles of playin (blues included..)
