Hey if I havent told you lately...."Your a hell of a pilot!" Just all around skilled and I love the videos! Be safe and never over confident! Awesome!...Id fly with you anytime.
Are you sure they were IFR? We can fly VFR under normal IMC conditions...lol. FAR part 91.155(b)(1) We have no clearance to clouds as long as we are under 1200ft. AGL...even over 10,000ft MSL(mountains) We call it see and avoid!
I re-listened to the original audio and approach said squawk VFR. NO mention of IFR cancellation received Have no clue what I was thinking on the reply!
Yes, class G cloud clearance is clear of clouds :-)).
Probably not. Approach gave me a huge block of real estate which I doubt is available in an area like you are in unless of course you are flying like at 3:00 a.m :-)
I purposely selected 5000 to 6000 knowing I would be well above the initial approach altitudes into KJAN and just below Memphis Center airspace
If you can work it that way, maybe you have a chance???
Working on my "enroute portion" video now, hope to upload on Monday which will clearly demonstrate the benefit of the block..
Thats pretty slick, I agree....I dont ever fly that high usually in the heli but I'll remember that in the airplane! Heli pilots are considered crazy if we fly higher than any altitude we cant get back to the ground within 20 seconds.
Great video as always. BTW, I recommend you check out the song "gravity" by John Mayer, I think it would be a good song for one of your flying videos. Happy flying.
Again a fantastic video, love the interaction with ATC. Stay safe .

Thank you for the very kind compliments.
I treat every flight as if it was my first one which allows no room for complacency :-) since every flight is my first!

ATC hates us.....JK....if your stupid enough to fly VFR in IMC you deserve what you get I suppose?

Very cool. I like your block altitude trick.. I wonder if Socal Approach (in Los Angels area) would ever dream of giving that out.
