  • che acconciature meravigliose :) bellissima esecuzione

  • la grande

  • I dislike this interpretation, not because of Karajan's influences on it but because of the choices made for the canters. For example, Leontyne Price is great for Libera Me however she lacks the vocal control needed to successfully execute "Lacrimosa." Her voice is borderline screeching in the high notes. In addition, the bass is much to harsh on this piece and expels all internal force to project his part. The tone of his voice is not very attractive either. However Cossotto was brilliant.

  • @smareriq uh... Price screeching? If by screeching you mean effortlessly floating every high note ever written, maybe. i honestly don't understand. Her perfectly round soprano was virtually unable to screech, in fact, in her later years she had the complete opposite problem, which was her top getting a hollow hooty sound, which is nowhere in evidence here. Perhaps her top is too open to your own personal taste? Modern singers favor an overly covered sound, methinks. Color me confused.

  • @legionx2012 forgive me, by screeching I meant she was sharp, however to counterpoint I would like to say that hollow is not the same as sharp, in fact it could be interpreted as weak. Furthermore, your ad hominem and red herring fallacies should have no standing in any criticism. Moreover, as you mentioned modern singers I was colored confused seeming how this was written in the late 1800's and this was filmed in the late 1960's therefore why should any reference to modern singers be convicted?

  • @legionx2012 The lack of good sound quality is the issue here. Back in those days, their sound capabilities weren't as crisp as what we can do today. This sound that comes through the speakers is screechy just because of the quality, not the singer.

  • truly, one of the best rendition ever...

  • @WiseMonkey888 my dear friend in music, i also like the other Italian mezzo-sopranos of course. I've listen to many different versions of this piece, and to me Ms. Cossotto is the perfect mezzo for this piece. And in interaction with Ms. Price, THE Verdi Soprano also to me, it's the most beautiful version ever. I send my best wishes to you and your loved ones.

  • The best rendition ever of Verdi's Requiem, with the most starry cast!

  • Fantastic voices!

  • My favorite Mezzo-Soprano in this piece!!!

  • AMAZING COSOTTO!!!!!

  • Amen
