  • Was there a version of Amidar that featured a paint roller going around the grid? I seem to recall that one, but I could be having another flash back trip.

  • lol the code.

  • As a conversion I think it's alright, it's Amidar alright, except that the maze never changes.

  • Paint Roller > Space Marines

  • Funny, I had this game back in the day and later on purchased a game called Zoom for my Sega Genesis. Both titles are extremely similar. I wonder if there is any connection there?

  • I think it's better to forget about the plot or any sense in the game when you want to make a good arcade game or a game in generell. Go with with the solution which makes it more fun and forget about continuity ;)

  • Was Amidar the Bastard son of Donky Kong?.

  • Good work, I'm looking for fun Atari 2600 games and you give good reviews for me to decide which one I will buy next !

  • always loved this game. Never saw it in the arcades so I didn't know till recently that it was an arcade game.

  • You could be a radio DJ host.

  • The best game reviews on the net,...Thanks

  • I love it how you sometimes review the cartridges too :D

  • nice

  • I haven't heard that music at the end of the review since the Sword of Berserker review!

  • Reminds me of Oh Mummy! on the Amstrad CPC - and that's not a bad thing! The mummies never turned into chickens though... stupid Amsoft...

  • I played this game for hours as a kid.

  • Very strange, this one...

  • i love this game and played the arcade all the time. no real plot. in the arcade the blocks you fill in all had a numerical value of diff pts. first level is gorilla with the wariors but kinda picking up dots. the button when pressed made the warriors jump and you could run under them, but limmited to only 3 times.

  • 2nd level was the paint roller, same principle as the firs but you couldnt go to far away from the origional block or you ran out of paint. you would have to go back to a painted block to pick up more paint to continue finishing the level.

  • only 2 levels that repeat... monkey, paint roller, monkey, paint roller X infinity. oh and in between levels was a challenge stage where you dropped a pig to land on banannas but u had to chose the righ path to drop it down. omg i cant believe i just type all this out. LOL

  • make a video of all your games...... like a collection video!

  • You know what i figured out you kind of sound like Ray Ramano..

  • cannot unhear

  • Thanks for the 2600 review! Gotta love em

  • Amidar doesn't need to make sense. In fact, I say it makes too much already. It needs more flamethrowers, blunderbusses and watermelons. Now that'd be a classic.

  • This reminds me a lot of a mini-game in Canis Canem Edit (less stupidly known as Bully).

  • Awsome music at the end. You should use that for an opening theme for now on.

  • Nice review! I always thought the Parker Brothers games were better.. like Frogger, Reactor, and Star Wars Empire Strike Back.. The 2600 was the schs-nitt!

  • You had me at "you're playing as a paint roller"!

  • The plot: Warriors hire monkey to paint a room! Monkey failes to be there in time! Warriors try to kill monkey while monkey tries to paint room to save his life! In an other room a painter is trying to paint a room when he suddely reallizes that his alergic to pigs...and also there is a strange virus runing around turning everone into pigs!

    MVHH

  • Yet another 2600 review!

    Thanks man

  • pigs turning into chickens.. I'm confused..

  • Gosh...

I dont know why but i really hate Atari 2600 and 5200.

I still prefer the ZX Spectrum :P

Though, its still some classic shit.

  • I just looked up the Spectrum and a lot of the games did look pretty nice.

  • That IS some strange cartridge art.

  • i does look fun

  • all you do is climb latters?

  • Not working :(

  • dude, why cant you just bird ass the pigs

  • or suck them up into spaces' ass?

  • These 2 posts are EPIC WIN! NICE! :)

  • I saw this in the store the other day. I had not idea what it was. I ended up getting Solaris instead. ^_^

  • I need this.

  • hey mark, what kind of camera do you use to film the real-life segments? even on normal quality, it looks fantastic.

  • STERRRRRRN

  • Reminds me of Qix...sorta...without the gorilla

  • Yeah I agree, Ultimate Qix for the Genesis, that game was cool and reeeally hard.

  • sorry messed up.i should have said "ultimate bruce lee".sorry about that!!!

  • lol its so random

  • It looks like Burgertime to me.

  • what happened to the reg atari 2600 its the 2600 jr.

  • Randomness at it's best.

  • Hmm Who Wan't HardWare Rewiews After Your Comment Just Say More Hardware Like This :

I Like This Game... We Need More Hardware Rewiew... Just Don't Spam!?

  • We need more hardware reviews, Mark!

  • looks like a coleco vision game, i believe it was called "dr pepper" or something like that, was better on coleco vision

  • Pepper II, great game!

  • omg we need to find you a copy of mort the chicken from psx id love to hear your review on that game

  • LOL Mark you sound drunk when you explain the plot. :P

  • "Woops, I did not heed the warning bleep, and lost a life."

  • to me this game is about a guy building a wall. LOVE AMIDAR

  • It all makes perfect sence to me.

  • looks like a mix of pac-man and donkey kong. good vid

  • Lookws exactly the same as "Oh, Mummy!" to me!

  • I bet that no one of this threads of comments knows wich game is "Oh Mummy" :D (at least he has an Amstrad ;D)

  • awesome

  • OMG i accidently rated your video 2/5 I am so sorry =S

I love your videos,I am so sry

  • What a weird setup for a video game. I thought mark made the story up by himself, but then he showed the cartridge.

Roller painter chased by pigs - a gorilla painting the jungle? A real gem in terms of story. ^^

  • Ah, I remember this game, it also has some rip-offs and "clones".

I did a gameplay video of this and it was one of my first Atari 2600 gameplay videos.

  • 2:26 Chickens!

  • i want it

  • Haha yeah that ONE button. INTELLIVISION LIVES!

But really this is a great game. I used to play it in the the arcade a lot. Awesome video.

  • is that it, only two levels?

  • Great concept for a modern game and great cartridge art too.

  • I do not understand why so many people complain all the time about mark's videos! If people do not like the video why don't they just read the title and if its not for a system you want to see then don't click it. But no people still feel they have to watch it and put shit comments up and complain about it.

OH WELL great review man as always!!!

  • @Rleeson85 your comment is over one year old but I just come now on this side to answer you. You are right but these shitty comments are a problem the whole youtube channel has. I think, let the people write anything what they want and ignore it is the best way to handle that.

And beside that Mark has a great talent and a big sense of humor. I hope he keep up his working.

    Greetings from Germany :-)

  • best graphics ive ever seen !!looks fun

  • If the you don't appreciate the plot of this game, then you're just not cool enough to play Atari 2600 in the first place.

  • nice

  • I wonder what do the pigs turn in to.

  • Other farm animals, probably.

  • amy whitehouse? no wait itll be the same.............

  • You're far from first

  • hahaha this game is so mindlessly awsome

  • nice work, keep ir up!

  • seems like a fun game....

  • 4th comment

  • hahaha fail

  • Awesomeness! Looks like a fun game, Mark!

  • amidar is one of my favorite games for the atari 2600,anyways,GREAT VID!!!

  • well it looks like your 2nd but who the fuck cares?

  • Finally another old game review, keep it up

  • finally? um you do know that 2 days ago was a different Atari 2600 review also right?
