The korean age system is like that. It doesn't matter which month you were born, everyone that' was born in 93 is going to be 20 in 2012. So new year's day, you eat the special new year's rice cake soup and gain a year to your age.

(Mar 93-Feb 94 would have studied together in the school, hence "friends"). If you watch a lot of Korean dramas or shows, when they meet strangers they would always asks for your birth YEAR for easy calculation of your age.

This is one of the reason I'm starting to become a Taemin fan. I remember Shinee mentioning that their hyungs were only really supportive on camera. They really didn't hang out with them outside of work. You can tell that Taemin is not going to be this way with Kai and the rest of Kai's group. I think its because Taemin knows what it feels like to be that young and not have people around to encourage you. Also, Taemin is pretty confident in his abilities and doesn't need to feel threatened.

Although Taemin seems to be older than Kai, according to Korean/Lunar calender, Since Kai was born in January, he is the same age as Taemin. Its the same case as Yuri( dec' 89) and Sooyoung (early 90'er).

example: born early90, only distinguish early90 people (jan, feb, march) from the rest of the year!! that's all!

It gets tricky when you leave the school behind and onto the real work force, then early 94 can decide if they are going to be friends with 93 or step down to be friends with 94 lines. Because of this dilemma, Korean school's going to not admit early kids in the school anymore. It's going to be the same year from Jan to Dec in 2015(ish?) school system.
