  • you are very beautiful))

    thanks for finger waves)

  • Would liquid pomade work better than gel?

  • @ladyrey I believe so, but i have never used it myself...

  • Oh thank you so much for this video! It helped me a lot doing mine! Im actually quite good at them now :) Love the lip ring...thanks again!

  • You're doing it all wrong.

  • If it wasn't for the piercing, you would look like you came out of the 20s! :D

like your facial structure an stuff.

    you're gorgeous. :D

  • did you use hairgel?

  • @loewenzahnguru Yes, loads of hair jell.

  • I love YouTube.

  • I just love the finger wave look but have been frustrated with many of the less direct tutorials. This one gets to the point.

  • marry me

  • finger waves are hard enough to do on someone else's head, I can't imagine trying to do them on my own head.

  • You did a great job Mistique. You look great and the look is very flattering. Kudos

  • omg thank u sooo MUCH!

u dont knw how LONG it took me to find a vid of how to do the bob

    n u did good ;)

  • What's the music?

  • I'm trying this look for my Halloween costume in addition to finger curls. Thanks for putting this video up! :)

  • I like your way of doing videos...creative and well. Good luck with all... :) C.

  • Would a person with bangs still be able to make this work?

  • @elementwind91 I had a bit of a sweeping fringdge when I did it, although it was probably a bit longer than bangs. You could just give it a try and see how you go. I think if you use lots of gel or wave lotion you should be able to tuck them in :)

  • seet!

  • Your ridges need to be stronger, and you need more jel,The wave needs to be two fingers apart.Hope that helps :) but you are getting the concept :)

  • @AlishaDawnMarieClark Thanks that is really helpful. I realise this is not the correct technic, but when I was looking up how to do it, I couldn't find anything so I thought I would have a go. My hair is very straight so fingerwaves don't come to easy for it, but I am hoping to upload a better video soon.

    Thanks for you'r advise!

  • Nice hair horrible music!

  • It did help--thanks very much! :) I'm going bonkers viewing fingerwave videos today. Smooth, simple technique. Will give it a go for a bohemian night. Cheers1

  • Awesome video!! Thanks! I love your makeup!!

  • Thanks so much! This tutorial has been a godsend! I have to have to do my own hair for a fashion show this weekend and the designer told me today thats how she wants it done :) This has been such a great help!

  • watch?v=Q6K971gYQOo is the only vid I have found so far that's authentic. Sorry to tell you but there are NO shortcuts. Curling irons can create whats called a "Marcel" style but NOT finger waves. the end product is VERY different

  • Great Job! Thanks i'll try it! You actually kind of look like a combination of Myrna Loy and Maureen O'Hara! Thanks again for the demo! :D

  • @tangoredlucy Good eye--she does! A magnificent compliment indeed.

  • awesome video! what should i do with bangs? does it still work?

  • I got a 20's haircut today but I have short side bangs but I'm going to try it anyway!

  • I love your accent and you are ABSOLUTELY gorgeous!

I'm going to try it on my own hair, I'm not sure it'll look as good though..

  • FINGER WAVES Were 1920's

  • @jorgeyaquiful in the 1930's too.

  • You're so cuteee : )

  • what music is this ???

  • First song "leap Frog"

Second: "happy Feet" cool huh! Um I'm a big fan of the Firecracker Jazz band (rare& modern)- check them out, you're gonna love their music!!!! SWING BABY YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, It's probably easier to curl your hair with a curling tong before waving it. And try hair wax / pomade cos it gives it flexibility while you're putting the waves in your hair. Gel tends to go crispy very quickly.

  • It's probably easier if you curl your hair with a curling tong before waving it. And try hair wax / pomade cos it gives it more flexibility to allow it to move while you're coming through your hair. Gel tends to go crispy.

  • Thanks a lot for the upload...gonna try this.

  • Good tutorial. But next time have the music down a bit. I feel like I had to choose between listening to u or the music at times.

  • looks great!

also- what is the name of the song?

  • PRETTY!

  • What's the song??? I like it...

  • I love finger waves!

  • Thanks! awesome video-- I have been looking for this forever

  • you need to have the hair completely wet, not drippin, and you need waving lotion to creat the waves and ridges, :)

  • My hair is very wet, and not dripping, but I need to invest in a waving lotion. I keep reading about them, but I don't know where to find it. Gel is not the same I'm told! Do you have any idea where I could buy it? thanks! :)

  • you can buy waving lotion at a local Sallys store. that if there is a sally there. lol but yeah its easier and the hair sticks better, i know becuz i just finished doing the waves on my manikins head.

  • @MistiqueMakeup HEY gal! I finally uploaded a fingerwaving vid and I had to shout out to you about Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion, which i used and loved. I remember seeing this comment a few days ago. Motions is an 'ethnic' line...I got it at my local drugstore for about 5.00 US.

  • O thanks so much hun :) - I will have to have a look and see if I can order it from the states, because I haven't seen anything like it over here, and people kind of look at me like I'm odd if I ask about it. I am a little odd, but still ... ;)

    xx

  • thank you soo much i have been looking for ever for a 20's style hair do. i am doing hair and makeup for the school production of bugsy malone. lolz

  • Why thank you! I love the 20's :) Well I love a whole bunch of different era's but I really love the 20's :)

  • You look wonderful - I would love to see you do a tutorial on how you did your makeup here. Thanks for all the videos!

  • I have been a bit out of the loope lately, moving and looking for jobs, working two jobs and moving again, but I have the internet now, and I have had a few requests for it, so I will try and get on it soon, but I can't promise when it will be. stay tuned! :)

  • Thank you so much, I love it! :D And you look gorgeous!

  • Thanks I'm glad you like it :)

  • finger wave was so difficult for me, when i tried doing it the first time, but after trying like hecka times i finally got a hang of it.. i love the look!

  • It is tricky, but the more you try to do it the easier it will get! I need to start playing with it again, because I haven't done it for a long time, and my hair is getting long, so I need to work on it more!

  • I ADORE the 1920's makeup and look with the lip piercing. FABULOUS!

  • Fanks! hehe I might put a ring it for it next time...

  • You are a classic beauty.

  • Thankyou that is so sweet to say :D

  • this looks really fits you!!

    your are very beautiful!!!

I would like you better without the lip ring...but, everybody has a choice! Love all your vids!!!thank you so much for this one!!

  • Thank you!! I've been looking for a picture and/or video of this hairstyle & had such trouble finding it cause i didn't know what the name of the style was. My hair is medium length & i wanted to give it a shot but I don't want the waves to be too drastic. I tried to do a lil bit of my hair earlier tonite & it looked like it might work but i need more pins & i got a lil lost at what to do after i passed my forehead lol

  • Great job. Keep the videos comming.

  • Love it!!!! I'm a hairstylist, and I must say that was a very good tutorial for those who don't know what a finger wave is!!! Keep up the good work!! Btw~ love the makeup as well!

  • thanks! really well-explained! looks fab so no need to excuse it! let the 20s roll!

  • I am in a play set in the 1930's and this video helped me understand how to the finger wave! Thank you SO SO SO much!

  • instead of using bobby pins, you should buy actual pin curl pins, to hold them in. and you might need to use a different type of gel, and, is it wet when you do it? but it looks great! i tried it once on myself, didn't work. Great job!

  • very cute!!!

  • you are beautifull

  • Comment removed

  • if you curled your bangs before u did the wave it might be easier and u probably wouldnt have to use as much product.. might wanna give that a try :)

  • nice from the front but it looks like serious boo boo

    from the back.

  • you kinda look like evan rachel wood...

  • aw what a cute accent!

  • thanks!!! i hope i can do it...!!!

    btw u r really pretty :)

  • fabulous! and gorgeous!

  • oo i love finger waves i wish it would come back in style u did very good job ^_^

  • thanks, this is definately the best quality vid on finger curls.. and i forgive you for not having them very tight, it looks a bit hard to do on such long hair! thanks so much!

  • Very helpful, thanks!

  • u should put gell in it

  • Thanks for the video!! :) I love finger waves. And you're so pretty, too! :)

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much! This has been so helpful! :)

  • So, what kind of gels do you use? And thank you SO MUCH for making this.

  • afro hair is easier.

  • u sexy when ur hair is wet

  • lol thanks! I'll have to have wet hair more often! lol

  • oOh :3 im learning this at school! x]

  • There is a must read book for the hairstylist coming out of school called "From the bowl to the chair" a must read for 9.95

  • is your hair wet or does it have hair gel in it at the beginning

p.s. great vid! thx for the help

  • Its both. I wet it, and then a dumped on heaps of gel

  • okey dokey! thank ya very much

  • thanks for uploading this, it's really helpful!

  • Your welcome :) I'm hoping to get another video up on it soon with a more.... ah crap I can't spell Acturate (? no i know thats not right) style as I keep getting told i'm not doing it right. I just have to work on it a bit more because I''m not very got at it, and my hair is longer now so its harder! hehe

  • that looks really hard. I'm going to need a Lot of gel and 3 bobby pins.

  • I guess it really depents on your hair. bobbie pins def help tho! keep em in untill nice dry :~)

  • I like it but it was alittle hard to here you.

  • thank-you so much. you look gorgeous. well done. :]

  • you welcome :) And thanks!

  • thankyou for this, best vid on finger waves so far. however I don't have long hair at the front. I have a sweeping side fringe but I want to wave it. can I still do it??

  • You won't know unless you try! :D

    I have bangs.. so I can't. I tried. :|

  • its a bit harder, but you might still be able to do it. Just takes keep working on it! the good thing about having banks or layers is that you can add in little kiss-curls if you want :)

  • So cute! I love it! Thank you)

  • When I wore my hair short, I used to get asked all the time how I got such fabulous finger waves. I have crazy naturally curly hair, so I got finger waves in my attempts to actually straighten the darned mop. I had not heard of finger waves before then. I never knew what people were talking about, since I always thought it was just my miserable failure of a hair style!

Wonderful video. Glad to finally see how it's done. I really want to try and recreate the old look on my new long locks.

  • My sister has the same problem with her hair around her forhead. She used to finger waves when we were younger and I was really jalous cos she could do it really easy and i couldn't! hehe

  • wow awsum learnt alot... dyu thik it's easier with short hair??

  • Well i haven't tried it cos I'v had long hair for a long time (i'm thinking of cutting it short but I don't think I will lol) but I find that because my hair is so heavy it pulls it down so it is hard for me to do.

  • well, i simply love it, it really suits you =)

  • thanks

  • great !! :D

  • Great video... just curious... have you tried to place your fingers down with your palm on your forehead? It worked better that way for me and avoided my thumb getting in the way...

    Again... great post... thanks!

  • No! lol I should! I don't think of doing things the logical way hahaha I'll def try it next time! thanks :)

  • I'm so glad you amde this, it was a load of help!

  • pple dnt ask us hairdressers to to do this,so we just dnt bother!good on ya!

  • I get messages from hairdressers every now and then telling me that I do it wrong, so i am still working on the correct way to do it. Once I nail it (which might not be fore a while! lol) i'll post a new video :)

  • fab video, will have to try it out! pls talk through your 20s makeup too! ta x

  • Yeah I am going to try to do one soon :)

  • yay! finally i can see how it's done! thanks

  • i did that how she said to and it looks awosome!

  • me too, it worked really well

  • Thanks for explaining how it works. I'm going to try it out now. (:

  • Great video. It gave me a good idea on how to finger wave my hair ( I'm throwing a 20's themed party on Sunday ).

One suggestion, tough. At parts of the video, the music overwhelms and its hard to hear your voice.

Thanks for posting this! I've got to go practice.....

  • thanks, I love having music in my videos, but i know that it is a bit loud some times. Sorry about that!

  • amazing thanks

  • ahhhh thanks so much

    this was so helpful

  • youre very cute and pretty

  • Fabulous make up! You look gorgeous

and thanks for the technique - practicing right now for my friend's hen party :) 20s rock! Dublin - watch out for 8 20s jazz chicks next Sat- !!! LOL

  • nice waves. ;)

  • thanks a ton!

  • WOW.

You look a lot like Evan Rachel Wood!

  • Where'd u get the song?

    (Great video by-the-way :))

  • Wow, brings back memories. When I was a kid, my one granny would take me with her to the beauty shop for a wash and set or fool around and try those marcel wave things on me if I stayed the night. She had this nice dark wavy hair. I had this straight mousy blond fine hair with a bit of wave. Drove her crazy since it's hard to work with. The other granny started doing perms on me. I always had wacked-off bangs in all the pictures, for some reason, ha-ha. I truly had a nice childhood.

  • What kind of gel do you put in your hair before you start coming it into curls?

  • I used just Wella Shock wave Gel, but apparently you can get something called a Waving Lotion, which is ment to be really good, but Im not 100% what that is, and haven't found it yet. It might be called something different over here.

  • ooh I see, thank you.

  • I love your accent. :)

And it's so generous of you to do this thank you so much!

  • you have gorgeous eyes! and thanks so much this is really easy to follow.

  • You're so pretty! You should take out that piercing though, it would be very pretty without.

  • Wow, looks great! I love the look... hmm, maybe I shall try soon..

  • Your hair looks so cute! I have been looking for a lesson in finger waves, too, so thanks for posting this!

  • omg that hair is a mess!

  • i love this <3 well done :) how would you get a wave with more volume without it falling flat? would i need to use a setting lotion?

  • hmmm I think that would help. You can get "fingerwave clips" which you can clip in to give that higher "crimp" look where the wave changes direction, but I haven't been able to get any. Also try doing it wet, letting it dry and set in shape over night, and then re-doing it dry in the morning. You might be able to get more volume that way :) Hope that helps!

  • I wasn't able to find the "fingerwaves clips" alone, but a friend of mine, whose mother is a hairdresser, gave around 15 of them to me for my birthday. God bless him! They're small aluminium clips, very light, but you can imitate them quite well using cheap plastic clips with short triangular teeth - the ones the hairdresser uses to clip your hair out of the way! If you write "hairdresser clips" into Google Pictures, the first image you get is the one - and you can get it in any supermarket!

  • That was really helpful! Thankyou!

  • I'll keep my eye out for those clips, and i like the other ideas too, thanks very much :)
