  • This sounds a good deal like the Hendrix piece Psycho.

  • The one and only

  • i don't know where all the drugs conversation came from. I never understand why people will ever think drugs make anyone better at anything.....they impair you, remember? Sure there are functioning druggies/alcoholics...but never will anyone ever be able to be as good as they are sober. To state otherwise means you have a drug problem or you're stupid. LOL

  • Good God, that was AMAZING. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is totally terrific!!!

  • righteous

  • This song is freakin killer I love it

  • Man this is great stuff and I was BORN in 1979!!!

  • In some states it must be a crime to have such an awesome guitar sound...lol

  • Wow!!!

  • Sounds like he's breaking out of jail lol, well done. this track kills it.....

  • stevie wasn't only a player with a lot of feeling. his technical scills were amazing

  • Jesus... that is smokin'! But he was on a role at this point and was not to be stopped. Folks, that is both rare AND great.

We're just coming up on 20 years that he's been gone....

Namaste and RIP, brother. You are sorely missed.

  • OMG what is this Amazing playing It sounds like a little solo from Clapton crossroads at 2:22. Is this Miserlou dick Dale style picking "so fast". I play allot of stevie even Rude Mood I give a run for its money, but this takes the biscuit . I have to reinvent my playing style for ever song of his I attempt.

  • i think this is stevie's bumble bee blues version...fucking amazing.....he's playing out of his skin on this one...

  • Lawd-a-mighty! I've never heard this before. That is utterly amazing! Love you Stevie!!!!

  • Beautiful groove!!!!

  • Chateau Strut, written by Doyle Bramhall. It is the coolest thing I've ever heard from Steive!

  • This is the coolest tune that "Ive never heard" - great stuff- thanks !

  • I love this song. Lol, it sounds like he says Chuck Norris is on bass though. Hahaha

  • There is a 40 second clip of this on the album from Double Trouble's "Been A Long Time" it's considered a hidden track and it's not listed on the C.D. but it's the last track, Man I love this stuff

  • It's amazing how strong his arm and hand is. Does anyone realize how many pull-offs he's doing in this song? That is arm numbing..it's crazy =O

  • WOW good stuff. Thanks. This is a rare one.

I told Stevie after he played Als Bamboo on New years eve in Dallas his music made me feel better than any drugs could. Anyone know what year that was? 81-82 I do believe. At the time I thought damn pay $10 to see Stevie. Sure glad I did. He gave me 2 guitar picks too.

  • The way he plays this tune,It's like a twister tornado.

  • "Probably the coolest thing you've never heard Stevie play."

Stevie has quite a bit of those, doesn't he? Excellent choice!

  • Focking superb!

  • holy shit!!

  • Hey thanks Tommy, I've been trying to find out what it was.

  • This sounds like one of SRV's boogies mixed with pipeline. Very good stuff!

  • OH MY LORD!!!! Makes me HOT!!!

  • This tune is called "Chateau Strut", there's a little cut from the song on the Double Trouble album as a hidden track. Doyle Bramhall plays this song on his new album as well. I love it a lot, Stevie was really on that night (as always, lol). I just can say WOW. Miss you Stevie.

  • Which album if you don't mind clarifying?

  • It's called "Is It News", released in 2007.

  • @TommyKJr I have Double Trouble's 2001 "Been a Long Time", and the Bonus Track is a 50 seconds song very much alike to this one... are u sure that isn't this one that you're talking about?

  • this is so good, i listen to it everyday, i study it, i absorb it, i live it.

  • Whatever it was I think its pretty obvious that the drugs weren't the reason he could play the way he did.

  • was just about to say that, THANKS FOR UPLOADING THIS AMAZING CLIP! xD

  • @OwenC56 definitely right about that!

SRV could rip it no matter what he was on, but I personally think he got better after he dropped the drugs.

  • this cut here, it goes straight to my favorites, totally kicks ass as only SRV can.

  • That IS THE BEST I`VE heard Stevie!!.It`s like Hendrix meets Coryell head on!!.It`s fantastic, Thanks again!!.

  • man he's on fire! wish it was better quality sound though... does it have a name???

  • Ahhhhhhh.....the power of cocaine & the blues, like a freightrain comin' right at ya!

  • not in 1979, they were cranked up on meth

  • stevie git sober four years before he diied dude, what dise ti bad he had to use drugs spose to mean, he died in a heli crash not from drugs

  • The drugs have a way of reducing your output. It simply wears down the body. In his case he almost died while on tour in Europe from the drugs and alcohol for way too many years. There also was a 6-10 month period loss where he was in rehab where he could of produced another album. He even admits that his playing was not to the level he is able- because of all that shit he was addicted to. Simply put ...burning out. Music is my drug so I don't need it. But many musicians .........well.....

  • Drugs had nothing to do with his guitar playing, it was a god given talent he had, something natural, in him, not drugs.

  • Great stuff owen.

  • That's some down ass shit. Thanks for posting this gem.
