  • Guru and pac are the kings of hip hop XD

  • The arguement about Premo sounding the same is like saying James Brown sounds the same...need I say more

  • Rough and Rugged...............when it matters...love the piano

  • Word to Joe Frazier got to do what pays ya!

  • @Obamanomics /watch?v=pdyiP8YZRn0

  • @sk8poompers yo thanks for the link homie- never heard that cut before!

  • Im alwayz laughin,,HAHA cuz u punkz some clownz.....lol

  • das efx scratches sound hot as hell

  • did he have a problem with mike tyson?

  • @GetDown9I I think he was just using Mike Tyson as a reference for throwing lyrical blows at other MC's.

  • This has to be in Premier's top 20

  • nema na cemu.

  • Top seven. Best Ever is a bit of a stretch. KRS, Rakim, Chuck D, Talib Kweli Nas...ok top six

  • DAMN I miss this shit

  • the 3 idiots not liking this should show more respect.

  • Gangstar`s best Album.I bought this album atleast three times cause it kept on f`ing up.

  • nas is goat lyrically, guru had better production.....

  • GET YA HATER'S UP - BARTON BLOCK

  • No one EVER talks about this song when discussing the best Gang Starr tracks, but this might be my favorite Gang Starr of all-time.

  • this was my fav joint on this album

  • GURU will always be the man. R.I.P.

  • F.A.L.A in my language means "Thanks"

  • @MultyKiLler1 maybe 'fala' does but not F.A.L.A!

  • @jeezuschryst i know :D

  • FUCK AROUND and LAY AROUND U GOIN DIE.

  • guru was boring at times and reminded me of a conscious version of too short. but i cant lie, step in the arena was a classic , dj premier !!!!

  • i wish i was a teen when this kind of music was out. FUCK NEW SKOOL

  • 3 new skool cats just got snuffed

  • @mikemaw20034

    No doubt money.

They need to buy a watch to know what the time is. word em up!

  • HIP-HOP....

  • What a piano break !!

  • 3 dislikes....really??

  • No album from Gangstarr or affiliates made such an impact as Straight Out Of Compton, Doggystle, The Chronic or the Marshall Mathers LP. And that is the truth. I like Dre best still but Premier a close second. They will always be the best producers of the east and west coast!

  • @royalsteven

I'd say Jazzmatazz made as big an impact as Straight out of Compton and The Chronic. I don't think anyone had really tried to combine jazz and hip hop before it.

    @supreemeDJ

I'm not sure I'd call them underrated. Almost all rap and hip hop fans will have heard of them, but no doubt they were/are 2 of the best.

    RIP GURU

  • Just because he tried something new doesn't mean it was a big succes. But yes it was pretty big. No Time To Play was a little hit. Jazzmatazz wasn't really new though. Gangstarr mixed jazz with beats already and maybe others like A Tribe Called Quest.

  • @royalsteven

Actually it was a new concept. What Guru did different from previous jazz-hiphop fusions, was that he had actual jazz players in studio. In other words, the instrumentals on Jazzmatazz aren't sampled, they're composed from beginning to end

  • Oh ok, in that way ok. But weren't The Roots the first to do that?

  • @royalsteven

The Roots recorded with a live band, but that wasn't jazz. I'm not 100 % sure, though

  • @royalsteven

Who the hell cares about the impact artists made. I care about sound the artist makes, maybe thats just me

  • I don´t personally care either but it is a sort of sign of what the artist means to others.

  • Guru's voice is so soothing

  • The two most underrrated emcees of all time - GURU and Redman. These cats were/are beasts in the game.

  • hands down, Guru is the best rapper ever. Nas is a close 2nd!

  • @NasIsLegend

I can only hear Big Shug!

  • @NasIsLegend wooorrrrddddd

  • @NasIsLegend

    nas stole megas flow

    fuckin punk

  • @NasIsLegend Trippy.. i always thought the same thing... nd its not like thats a common choice

  • @NasIsLegend HAHAHA NO SON BUT GURU WAS REALLY REAL PERSONA IN RAP GAME

  • @NasIsLegend ...bahhahaha

  • @NasIsLegend wut about big l????

  • @NasIsLegend WORD

  • @NasIsLegend cant forget Rakim in the top 3

  • @NasIsLegend when the level is highest is only a question of taste;) peace

  • @NasIsLegend lil wayne is the best rapper of all time

  • "Werd to mike tyson hit ya quick like lightnin/ swing my left jab first and then come in with the right *cold deck ya* "

  • @voidvibe

so why the fuck you in here bitch........

    Rhyme In Peace....Guru!

  • this is why I stopped listening to old school hip hop and switched to electro/dnb/dubstep

hip hop heads always argue about who's the fucking best. It's annoying as fuck.

  • i can feel and see the new york aura when premo plays this beat man

  • I dont care whatever anyone thinks! you put a piano in a beat it should be dope! But yeah premo iz dope!

  • GANG STARR RUNNING SHIT 1989 - ETERNITY

  • Dr. Dre cant touch Pete Rock, Large Proffesor or DJ Premier... period

  • Comment removed

  • @calibar38 WORD UP!!!! Dre's shook in the game now that's why his stupid album keeps getting pushed back. Dre's no longer relevant in Hip Hop as far as I'm concerned, he's better off peddling dem $500 headphones he's keeps gassing people about. Premo made the 2 grimmy-ass beats for the likes of a POP artist like Christina Aguliera & the shit came off too....for Christ's sakes who's even making such stupid-ass-comparisms?,

  • Juxtaposing GANGSTARR and DR. DRE is just not fair. Dj Preemo has never compromise his trademark style whereas Dre on the other hand has moulded his style to be more commercial friendly. That being said, this whole this one is better than that one is getting old. Just leave it at preferences. Long live GANGSTARR!

  • @widerling that is the best argument i've heard from the whole dj premier vs dr. dre debate. but that thing that DJ premier supposedly doesn't evolve his style because it still sounds the same hinders him by some fags like people at the source or something.

  • Juxtaposing GANGSTARR and DR. DRE is just not fair. Dj Preemo has never compromise his trademark style whereas Dre on the other hand has molded his style to be more commercial friendly. That being said, this whole this one is better than that one is getting old. Just leave it at preferences. Long live GANGSTARR!

  • such beautifull sound, i know what im gonna listen to early mornings. good shit to start yo day.

  • dont even talk about Dre , everyone who knows GANGSTARR IS GANGSTARR

    DJ PREMIER & GURU - GANGSTARR 4EVER

    chill, peace yall

  • guru maybe dead but at least preemo is still around gangstarr for life

  • RIP Guru....hip hop died along with you.

  • dr. dre makes shit beats compared to premier

  • dj premier is the east coast version of dre and dre is the west coast version of dj premier YING YANG BITCHES ;)

  • dr. dre can fuck with this..he is a real producer preemo only takes samples and loops them simple as that thats all he does and it sounds fucking great but thats all he does. you know deep cover right DRE DID THAT BEAT FROM SCRATCH. love preemo but he aint fucking with dre.

  • @eastwestlover 99% of Dre's beats are sampled & 99% of his beats after 2001 suck

  • @eastwestlover how you can say that premo 'just samples' check out how he made the mass appeal track and you´ll change your mind and that is only one of many examples

  • one of the best gangstarr joints hands down.

  • type ill

  • Boston to New York City all day!!!! R.I.P Guru. Big up Big Shug and Primo

  • good lyrix

  • I remember the commercial on The Box advertising this album before it came out. Everybody at the party got quiet and just bugged, thinking a new Gangstarr song was coming out. We were standing there like dogs with our tongues dragging. I bought this album twice. Tape/CD. STILL BANGS

  • shit cant remember who else used that same piano loop

  • Now that you mentioned that. D.I.T.C comes to mind. I could be wrong, but it sounds like something Lord Finesse used in one of his older tracks.

  • I was bumpin the DITC - rare and unreleased production album and theres a joint on there produced by Show and im pretty sure I heard that same piano sample, it might of been altered somewhat.

  • Ima dope one ready to blast and wreck shot

  • anyone who considers this beat / track to be wack don`t know shit!

gang starr foundation on its prime! great times! love the joint with melachi, he rips it.. the beat.. the whole hard to earn lp blows me away every time!

    f.a.l.a...what a joint! mostly tha voice..everything!

glad that we still got the lp`s from this era because 90% of today`s rap is shit!

  • quando sento sto beat me vie da piagne!

    ke livelli!

  • i guess i could see how somebody might find this beat wack, but they just dont understand the genius of dj premier when he is in deep concentration

  • i still get chillswhen i hear this joint.premo best producer ever!!!!! if a nigga say this wack they want that snap synthesize bullshit

  • I cant honestly see how they may think this is wack. I understand the difference between the golden era and now, but its similar to whats going on today, repetition, hard snaps / drums... cats just forget how the fuck we got to where we are... Long live Premo...

  • I liked Hard To Earn but I didnt like this song before, but now I do.

  • it's not about though... it's about the lyrics

  • Gang Starr!!! PrimO!!! Guru!!! Big Shug!!...One Of My Favourite Preem Beats...That Piano Is Just Hypnotic!...My Mind Just Gets Sucked Into A Vortex Or Some Shit...DJ Premier...Year Round Genius!!!

  • best dj who ever lived and who will ever live

  • Don't forget Pete Rock.

Personally, I prefer him, but Premo comes on a good 2nd place

  • That's a tough decision. JDilla and D.I.T.C definitely go in the top 5 along with Preem and Pete.

  • Yeah, but now I like Primo better again :-P

I think he's number 1, but I haven't heard enough of JDilla, I liked his songs on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 though

  • Old people can't understand that hip hop is an art and that primo is the reincarnation of Mozart!

  • Secondo me questo è uno dei beat più potenti di SEMPRE.PREEEEMOOOO

  • FIREE.

  • Damm Dr.Dre is cool but he cant do shit like this this is an ill ass piano premo needs to be in the same class as Dre.

  • what???? dr dre doesnt even come close

anyone who knows real hiphop knows that

  • @nugsncaps O okay didnt know you took a "real hiphop" class, my bad. I actually thought my opinion was right, but if you say my opinion is wrong when i say dr dre is tight then i must be wrong

  • @nugsncaps and whats really funny is if you did a little research you would see how much Gang Starr admired Dre

  • @nugsncaps no albums beat straight outta compton, chronic & doggystyle though.

  • @ogfunk187 this one right here and plenty others you kiddin!

  • @bronxreaper Premos Is in the same class as dr dre the both are

legends for me.Dr Dre-West Coast, Dj Premo-East Coast The Both Got

    The World Locked...

  • @bronxreaper

in the same class as dre?

haha don't make me laugh he is in another league

  • @strikeout1991 haha na he in a whole nother sport bro lol

  • I remember the day I brought this tape, I went to chill at my girls house later that night but didn't have a Phille to smoke and listen to Hard to Earn for the first time. She said if you go back out I'm not letting you back in. I chose the Phille and Hard to Earn over the Power U. One of the best Decions I ever Made.

  • :D:D:D:D you did the right thing : )

  • i don't know you but you my peoples for that post right there

  • early 90s rolling deep in a 98 regency through east new york screw facing everybody while the bass shattered windows and set off car alarms and this joint played!!nyc stand up!!

  • "I did my time and now i'm free..."

  • Gangstarr, Wutang Clan (and all afilliates of Gstar and WU), Cyne and Dead Prez IMO are/were the best groups of all time for lyrics, beats and message.

  • More rep than Lucky Luciano !!

  • "Word to Mike Tyson, hit you quick like lightning, swing my left jab first, and then come in with the right, full deck ya', nah I can't never respect the, punk like ya', you get drop like 1, 2 and your out son, just like a one round 'bout son!"
