W. championchips in Falun in 1993 were probably the last big event, where yet no all jumpers used new V-technique. Does please anybody remember which jumpers jumped there with this old paralel technique? Probably Weissflog and Thoma? Or some others? Thanks in advance.

I hope that I don't mix the stories up but I think Matti was totally drunk when made this giant jump. In his autobiography "to hell and back" he stated that once he and his manager emptied two dozen cans of vodka the night before an event in Planica. The moning after, while being still totally drunk, he set a new jump record. In the eighties, he still could control his drinking problem. later, he wasn't able to do so anymore.

Matti is one of the best athletes ever- he has quite a few olympic gold medals to show for it... ( he cannot jump in 10 different events ) and his personal life might be in a bit of trouble, BUT don't ever judge a person unless you think you are worthy... he didn't decide to be in public eye, all he ever wanted was to jump... at the age of 16 he was the best in the world... so who ever is saying bad things about him, cast the stone
