  • @faith9421 So go, you'll have great time. Pow Wow's are celebrations of life and culture. The drums will have your feet tapping in no time. We Onkwehonwe, (Oon-gwe-hoon-we), or Original people are friendly and welcoming sorts. We don't scalp anymore, LOL! Try the fry bread, you'll love it. Since you have Native blood you should feel right at home. We are your people,, part of who you are, after all.

  • D.I.V.I.N.O !!!!!!

  • This is so cool

  • Much Respect to the Native Americans, from a guy with Native Central American blood (Aztec/Mayan/etc.)

  • Proud to be 3/4 s Native American, Creek and Cherokee.

  • Thanks for sharing. This is what we should be seeing all over the streets on 13 October formerly known as Columbus day.

  • the girls at 2:04.......i love their outfits......so colorful!! and i love native american dances their outfits and dancing are so beautiful :D

  • Proud to be native no i dont know my blood quantum but i was once told the amount of blood doesnt matter its the amount of native in your heart. Cherokee forever

  • @Lee1179 I am 1/4th lakota but my heart is that of a honky cracker

  • INFO: The question of what these dances mean and how to get more info, etc. comes up regularly, If you live in the USA, find out where your nearest Tribal Headquarters is and contact them. If you live outside the USA, contact an appropriate NGO at the UN. In general, Native People sing and dance for all the same reasons that people in other cultures sing and dance. Some of the dances here are competition, some are not. The dress is a bit 'extra fancy,' called: regalia, common for special events.

  • @citizenbfk Or contact Canadian First Nations tribes :) They do the same thing (well kinna).

  • @lusoguyJesuspower - good info, thanks for adding it.

  • could watch and listen forever... would like to know the story behind the dances and become more educated in the native american old generation ways..

  • @carvinmom Attend pow-wows in your area. Get to know the people. Check out Native American Documentaries at Amazon.com and take your pick. (There's a six-part series titled "Native Americans" at Amazon, p.5. - a great introduction to info guaranteed you were never taught in school.) Also, "500 Nations," "Incident at Oglala - The Leonard Peltier Story" - as a start. Then get acquainted with the genocides and plight of survival. It'll help you appreciate the pow-wows. (library's cheaper)

  • It seems that they have a happy life though some of them really have a difficult living.

For this point, the whites and the first natives get well along, american culture become multiple.

  • Is there a story to these dances or a meaning behind them? Some of the dancers are dressed like birds. Or is it a contest? I see some of the dancers with numbers on their costumes

  • Thumbs up if you are or support our natives :D

    IM A PROUD NATIVE!

  • native and ~PROUD~

  • i can so easily dance to this then this hiphop/rap crap they have today

  • your culture is so rich, i am african american but i respect your culture so much, you must remind the future generations that you come from a strong people, warriors and you guys are more than what the history books teach

  • nice i was there im cree

  • not amercan nor native, but would love to see this in real life,

  • @TheKitaleigh

    It's amazing~

The atmosphere of everything is beautiful :)

  • I am a descendant of one of the last chiefs of a tribe of southern Louisiana. My Native American blood has been muted by Mexican and European heritage unfortunately. But the blood still runs through my veins though. I wish I could participate in a pow wow like this, but no one would believe I am Native. I am very pale. This is amazing and I wish I could dance to the flute and drum like this. :)

  • @ultimatlykoolgirl : go to a powwow! I live near a reservation in Michigan and people of all colors dance at the powwows. Don't let your perception of someone else's perceptions keep you from doing what you want to do!

  • @ultimatlykoolgirl you are missing out! I am Lnu and live on first nations.. our blood is still strong in our community.. you can always go to a pow-wow...and not perform..just go for the food and company and new friends.. :)

  • you can. You are more than your skin and the fact that you have mixed blood makes you more special, not less ( in my opinion.) You are the last of a dying tribe. It is up to you to continue and preserve your native american culture in southern lousianna. I have mad respect for your community for the hardships and struggles you have endured. I hope you participate in powwows and other events. You are native american and your pale skin matters not. Your community is counting on you! Just my opinion

  • hot stuff

  • I have high respect for Natives , Like : Pawnee, Shoshone, Cheyenne, Sioux, Blackfeet, Crow .

  • i wish i can dance like them :)

  • Wow, this was just awesome, have never seen anything like it, most likely because I'm swedish xD Thumbs up to these people! :D

  • Hello i have a message too first Nations it goes like this as white citizen of Canada and i,m speaking for number of or community what we want u too know is that we cannot forgive nor can we forget what we have done i along with many are truly disgusted and ashamed of it in every way u are a reminder of a once normal world you value whats really important Family,Love, respect i just wish our community could follow the same example but just know that u have a large majority of our support.

  • I'm native. I went to a powwow last weekend. Next year I'm gonna participate in it with my cousins and dance and I'm only twelve. Go native and powow

  • rabito124 has made a comment on Pow Wow:

    PRECIOSO

  • This is so cool! I wish I was Native!

  • @dream0clouds me too dude.

  • @dream0clouds Perhaps 300 years ago you would be saying something different.

  • @dream0clouds doesn't everyone lol! ;o)

  • @dream0clouds I wish I could teach you about Natives like myself(yes i know i dont look it). Try researching about it. its very fasinating

  • @dream0clouds I am Native American. I just don't know what tribe and how much Indian Blood I have.

  • i am a mix of many different tribes, to name a few:

    cherokee

    blackfoot

    & shoshonee

when i was young, i USED to be in touch with my native american side, but i have lost my way & dont know how to find my way back! ;(

  • @200Raikou Start going to Powwows again, thats wht im doing this whole summer, and the Powwows are everywhere.. every weekend u can find one!

  • @ashcommanda well, i live out in the middle of nowhere, so i dont think ill find any powwows near me

  • @200Raikou

find your way back home son, times are coming when you will need to be brave and strong xxxxxxx

  • @200Raikou Get with your elders. Keep attending pow-wows. Understand that EVERYONE is mixed. Know what you want.

  • I wonder how We Natives would be living if it werent for the treaties or residential schools. It's sad seeing the youth these days drink, smoke, or whatever they're doing, instead of this. I mean, Im 14 and i would LOVE to take part of this, But No because of my family drinking and everything.

  • The elderly gentelman with the american eagle feathers on his back amazed me at his age. He has dance in his heart and blood.

  • Old school rave .-) Deepest respect to the natives!

  • breath-taking!!!! I am a history teacher and find this cultural material so awesome!!!!

  • I am a Guamanian that respects and admires the way you all preserve and keep your traditions. It upsets me that most of the females of my clan married a pale face and now our culture is dead. Can I join your clan?

  • Native American Indian Dancing

@ Northeast Arizona, on White Mountian

    Apache land.

  • I hate asking this, but what tribe is this?

  • @Ozzymania1988 A Pow Wow usually involves different tribes. We have one every year where I live in Nevada, it is run by the Pauite tribe, but tribes from all across North America participate.

  • thank you

    Robin Silver Lake Wa

  • so beautiful!

  • I love natives, and I love how they keep their traditions alive, I love the earth I'm 19 and I treat the earth right unlike people who make a bloody mess out of it and i hate governments period.Natives inspire me to try and to keep the peace between everyone especially at my school.

  • The real native Americans plz be very proud of who you are and continue to keep your cultures alive from all tribes , I am sick and tired of how all our governments treating you guys unfairly and cruel

  • Much better than the Powwow'as thar ive attended in the past, the only one that i can assimlate with, was one i attended in Kentucky,

  • I'm a native indian from Suriname from the Caraib (Kalinja ) tribe and i want to say to all other native tribes, from north and south America,NEVER,give up ur traditions and ur pride! You see,we are the best guardians of nature. It's the thing about me and mother earth,it's something that most people from the west don't understand. If you do not respect mother nature, she will no longer respect you. It's a wisdom from our ancestors and we must never forget that.

    Greetings from Suriname

  • I am not Native American, but I find their traditions so entracing. I am discusted by all the racism that Native Americans recieve. I find there dances beautiful, interesting, and inspiring. I am proud to be able to live around people of native decent, and that they are willing to share their traditions with me.

  • @neoncookie14 thank you for your kind words of my people, I am half native. :)

  • This is why I'm proud to be native

  • My mom used to dance :) I miss those Powwow :'(

  • @DBKK which god are you referring to - the one that was a little flock of white fluffy sheep that murdered 60 million people for love and money and blamed it on Christ - he is probably rolling in his grave as you continue to slander his good name - you will not be eating money when all the trees are gone and Christ could tell you that

  • beautiful

  • Amazing!!!

Glad to see that the real americans are keeping their traditions alive despite the terrible attrocities the white men have done to you.

Peace and Love from Sri Lanka!

  • "British colonialism—the term "NATIVES", as applied to the inhabitants of colonies, assumed a disparaging and patronising sense, implying that the people concerned were incapable of taking care of themselves and in need of Europeans to administer their lives." (Wikipedia)

  • white mountain apaches!

    I miss whiteriver :T

  • umm yea where not indeans where NATIVES

  • i cant wait to attend the one in cal poly pomona later this month

  • its beautiful

  • Nobody take that wrong wen I say "show"..... it's BEAUTIFUL, I just mean as where in the times before this was practice everyday on the land...normal thing to do. Now people go see them as entertainment and have no understanding or awareness. Sigh...I deeply love the culture.

  • i'm not illegal i'm native

  • i have recently found out i was cherokee and i have always love the native american music and dancing but especially now i really take pride in being native american and i want to learn more

  • @zperez30 how did you find out? I am also trying to find out what tribe I have been from

  • Native Pride Baby!!

  • Hey how are yah hey how are yah

  • Amazing..i went to one of these when i was like 12 and absolutely loved it.

  • Amazing... its your land after all ....

  • Thats awesome :)

  • Even today we Navajo people still face so many racism. Outside our home, beyond the four sacred mountains, is an alien land that many of us still refuse to be part of. I am only fifteen years old and I know many dances and is a fluent speaker of my language, but recently my family visited a city and we were judged on because we mainly speak Navajo and our heritage.

All I have to say to you haters...Ch'iidii!! Ch'iidiitah sida!!! *Evil spirits, go sit in hell*

  • @halloween265 Keep your soul like this . NEver frget who you are, never forget where ever life may carry you. But not ever take yourself too seriously.

I wish you keep yourself safe and that life treat you and those you care for , kindly.

  • I am not a native, but it's still my origins. And I find this strangely beautiful and interesting.

  • Makes me sad to think that a lot of the natives are losing their way. I am not a native, but love and respect their culture. I feel at peace hearing the language, and hearing the music. I just wish that all the young generations listened and learned the ways of their ancestors. I am trying to teach myself Navajo. It is hard, but my determination is strong.

  • :)

  • man now i want to learn more about my ansisters i really got into this but pow wows are awesome :D!!

  • @UnicornMan1231 needs to stop being ignorant and hateful it would serve him well.

  • So important for future generations of Native Americans to know their heritage and to keep it with them, passing it on and on and on so that it is not forgotten. They still face so much racism...so much temptation to stray from the ways of their ancestors...They need their roots to give them strength.

  • @dhog41 me being half native and hispanic, both races are being rediculed nowadays, it's sickening

  • thank you for posting this video i am part cherokee and i like to look up native american videos i am learning cherokee language and am on my way to learning more about my ancestors this was a wonderful video thank you again

  • thank you for posting this video i am part cherokee and i like to look up native american videos i am learning cherokee language and am on my way to learning more about my ancestors this was a wonderful video thank you again

  • such a great culture it was, shame what happened to them. This performing while people sit on plastic chairs doesn't cut it for me. At least some should stay away from the digital age and preserve their pristine way of living, even though that's not possible anymore.

  • it sounds like strong winds

  • Greeting from Eskişehir, Turkey. My far brothers and sisters. I hug and kiss you.

  • give it up for the men's traditional dancers

  • I would like to marry a indian woman!! Polska

  • Beautiful. Near the end of this video the woman seemed like she was dancing on air in her movements. Took my breath away. The work in creating their personal regalia is just magnificent in color and representation.

  • I have Taino in my blood,Native Indian of Puerto Rico and This is just beautiful...thnk you soo much for posting.

  • Very beautiful !! Love the dancing and drums!

  • una tradizione, va mantenuta, che sia loro onostra...... Loro lo fanno noi?

    Meditazione - GizArt

  • Vote up si vous venez depuis Misteur Valaire!!

  • This is what is left.

  • native and indian danceing are very different and they are very differnt cultures i`m 25% native canadian and i like the religond of the native people your belife is your belifes no set god or gods

  • amazing. <3

  • There is both sadness and gladness in me. Sadness that the final way to respect tradition is to make it a show for another people, but gladness that the ways are held to in even this regard.

  • Now THAT is dancing!

  • the native americans should control united states, they are the true owners of this land not the white people.......

  • I love going to Pow wows! You learn so much and when the dancing starts you cant take your eyes off!

  • nice im really interested in seeing all those dances and i really want to know much more about native americans by the way im mexican american? but i really love how those drumming sounds and the singing sorry if my writting is bad? not so good at it if u able to understand it?

  • I never said they weren't pretty. I was more talking about the music and the boldness of the outfit moving too it. But thanks.

  • gotta love that drumming! I gets stuck in my head for weeks every year after our annual pow wow.

  • i love going to powwows they r sooo much fun!!!!!!! i am native and i dont get to go to powwows as often cuz i go with my grandma and cousins and i only see them during the summer, it really sucks because im forgetting how and im not dancing as much so i dont learn how to use better footwork i really hope i get to go to a lot more though!!!

  • so ein pow wow wo muß man mal gesehn haben am besten in OKL.

  • das muß man real gesehn haben egal von welchem stamm ein pow wow wow

  • i love it when they bounce around and yell... XDDDD awesome stuff!!!

  • @BitchTapout are u trying to be funny, because thats not funny at all. That can really offend people, and we dont bounce around and yell. Thats all a stero type.

  • @Showdagirl omg here we go.... wow i respect them.. i said i love it then they do that... it looks awesome... but omg i said just what they r doing!!!!! they bounce and then they get into the music and they yell stuff...

  • @BitchTapout kinda offensive. there are meanings to these songs and dances.

  • @capone935 no shit... omg i said i liked it!!!! wow.... i said that they r DOING!!!! a general statement sorry i didnt write a book of everything they r doing... HOLY CRAP!

  • Good Dance

  • This is what our native american youngsters need to stick to rather than acting like little gangsters. I find it a lack of knowledge to our native american youth who act like nothing but a bunch of low life gangsters. We natives struggle, but we struggle for our culture not for our gangs or whatever. I love the youth, desire for them to be real too, many are lost and uncontrolled. I was there at this pow wow too

  • @MrNative1953 I agree. Everyone in my family started dancing as soon as they could walk even though i havent danced in two years and im losing my footwork. I really need to dance daily even if im not at a powwow

  • @MrNative1953 My mother said [WELL SPOKEN]....

  • @MrNative1953

I agree. You can actually observe it here on Youtube where a Saami yoik (native scandinavian) stolen by Virign Records was presented togehter with native american rhythm as true native american chant in the Sacred Spirit album and have been hailed by the audience as true native american chant.

  • @MrNative1953

I don't live in the USA but it's good that you try to keep your culture.

I live in Belgium so i try to keep my culture to speak my language.

  • @MrNative1953

    you were 16 once also.

  • @MrNative1953 greetings from Kirati, native of the Himalayas.

watch this video --- > "Tribute to the Real People of Mother Earth: Native American-N-Himalayas Kirat "

I think all the native of the world must realize their original identity and revive their ancient culture and religion. Today Mother Nature is angry and Mother Earth is dying all attributed to western civilization, globalization and greedy corporation.

    Regards_From_1_Native_Bro_2_Another

    May Mother Earth bless us.

  • @MrNative1953 The low end way of life is what this country is selling to all children throughout the United States, not just Native Americans. For that matter all American children are forgetting about where they come from in exchange for this progressive way of life so many Americans lead. I am 1/4 Navajo, the rest of me is Mexican. Growing up I took great interest in my Navajo heritage but everybody would always laugh and taunt me especially my Mexican side, of all people......

  • @MrNative1953 You are right . The generation as humans are forgetting the true meaning of life as who they are and what they are born with pride.

  • nice video... i am mixteco from south mexico! i love to go see the dances of my people in the GUELAGETZA..totally amazing!

  • @90loneeagle this is native american dancing not mexican??? You have officially confused me.

  • @Showdagirl i know this is native american dancing! mexican heritage is not only your tipical mariachi music, in case you never knew, back then before columbus, before borders, mexico ranged all the way up to what is now california, new mex, texas, etc. so native americas OF THE AMERICAS SOUTH, CENTRAL, NORTH UP TO CANADA were native people, you would see native americans all the way down to what is now peru! my point is mexico has beautiful NATIVE DANCES that they still practice!

  • @Showdagirl and by the way i never said(wrote) that THIS VIDEO was of mexican indian heritage.!

  • I remember when I tried teaching my white friend at highschool how to pow wow he thought it was easy after 40 minutes he was sweating like a pig . LMAO good memories

  • UMM JUST CORRECTING THE COMMENT ABOUT THE "COSTUMES", THEY'RE REALLY NOT CALLED COSTUMES, THEY'RE CALLED REGALIA AND EVERY TRIBE HAS A DIFFERENT ONE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT MY REGALIA IS, I'M MIXED WITH SO MANY TRIBES, BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I AM HUICHOL, NAHUA, AND CORA INDIAN [[ALL FROM MEXICO]] :D

  • when I was very young we had a native man performing the eagle dance at our school :) I was so impressed and has always been amazed by native americans :)

  • I've always loved it when the men would come out with all there feathers and bird gear, to me it seem such a powerful and masculine thing. I remember back in grade school, learning about Indians, i was always in aw by the pictures, and also there social structure.

  • fantastic music and sound

  • i love the girl with the colors she looks like a bird

  • Sioux Indian for life.

  • HO-LAH.!!!!

  • this is so beautiful to see! My grandmother was a native american indian, I never got the chance to meet her, but I'm interested in learning what her culture is all about. My father never told me anything about my grandmother while he was alive, so I'm making it my job to learn about her & her culture myself. Thanx for the upload.

  • @braden74112 das macht keinen sinn. nicht zeigen. Indianer sind komplex menschen. wir wissen, andere sprachen anderen dann unsere eigenen..

  • Part 1) First set of dancers are Southern Straight. That's the guy without a bustle. The guy in the back is a Fancy Feather, hence the double bustle. Then you've got jingle dancers, After that is woman's fancy shawl, then it's Men's Northern Traditional. The group of girls is doing a mixed category. The girl in green and yellow is dancing Women's Southern Cloth.

  • Part 2) Then another clip has women dancing mixed styles, with a women in white and blue dancing Women's Northern Buckskin. Rest is intertribals. Grass dancers are mixed in there, those are the ones with lots of ribbons or yarn with no bustle. I didn't see any chicken dancers, or a crow hop being done.

  • @Tisagunde and the point of doing that is what?

  • God bless all Native Americans.

  • these dances are so beautiful! back home in Ecuador when i visit my fathers relative who are native Ecuadorianos, they have similar dances as this. thank you for sharing these clips with us.
