Im not saying riquelme's not good, i'm just saying the only thing he is good at is passing, technique, vision, dribbling and set peices. however, players like alvaro recoba or ronaldinho can combine speed and stamina with their dribbling to make them unstoppable, something Riquelme cannot accomplish. There are many underrated players in this world but i can't say he is very underrated - look at guahtemo blanco, like riquelme but underrated just because he did not win many trophies.

Yeah but there are so many players good at what he is good at - Veron, ronaldinho, David Silva, Sneijder, Diego, kaka and even van der vaart. The skills you see here, are amateur compared to the skills of the above.

These are terrific skills, especially that rainbow flick by the turkish player. That alone beats any of the skills above. And actually Veron has picked the Copa Santador Libertados a lot of times aswell as being capped by Argentina more than Riquelme and also being a better passer than scholes.

I like Riquelme - I got nothing against him. It's just some people here treat him as if he is the best player and most underrated in the world when in fact he is not. I agree you don't need to be fast to be a playmaker but you don't need to be slow because it is likely you will lose the ball but when you look at zidane, he's not the fastest player in the world but he is not that slow too and he has skills and balance to hold of players to find the perfect pass like a typical player.
Also Fifa 100 is also reliable as there are players there that dont play for europe and are good playmakers - e.g. Veron is a better playmaker playing for a non-european team and he was named in the FIFA 100 AND at the age of over 30, he is in the starting line-up for Argentina whilst Riquelme doesn't even get called up nowadays. Also most of the players you mentioned on the list have average speed and are in the FIFA 100

Im not saying riquelme's not good, i'm just saying the only thing he is good at is passing, technique, vision, dribbling and set peices. however, players like alvaro recoba or ronaldinho can combine speed and stamina with their dribbling to make them unstoppable, something Riquelme cannot accomplish. There are many underrated players in this world but i can't say he is very underrated - look at guahtemo blanco, like riquelme but underrated just because he did not win many trophies.

Yeah but there are so many players good at what he is good at - Veron, ronaldinho, David Silva, Sneijder, Diego, kaka and even van der vaart. The skills you see here, are amateur compared to the skills of the above.
So i wouldn't really say he is underrated considering the fact he plays for a great team Argentina. He is also not prone to injury.

These are terrific skills, especially that rainbow flick by the turkish player. That alone beats any of the skills above. And actually Veron has picked the Copa Santador Libertados a lot of times aswell as being capped by Argentina more than Riquelme and also being a better passer than scholes.
Just because he was too slow for the premier league doesn't mean he is crap - a lot of players mess up in the epl and he is 1 of the best f.k.takers

I like Riquelme - I got nothing against him. It's just some people here treat him as if he is the best player and most underrated in the world when in fact he is not. He is a great player but cannot even last 90 minutes on a football pitch. He could have been easily better if he payed more attention and improved his form.
Why else do you think he is worth 3 million(according to transfermarkt)

I have to disagree.He could not have been better,And he has played many matches over 90 minutes.I follow him still ,watch him weekly in the Argentine competition with Boca Juniors.He is still playing fantastic at age 33.Ofcourse his transfervalue will drop with age,thats logical.I hope to fullfill my dream of watching him play,Got tickets for Arsenal Boca juniors Emirates Cup on 30 July, in London.he isnt THE best player ever.But he is one of the most elegant players of all time.

Look, at passing- Riquelme is better than xavi or pirlo of fabregas at passing, however playmakinng all together (crossing, passing, vision, technique), xavi and fabregas are better because riquelme is slow and his skills here are nothing compared to the technical skills of Xavi and also Riquelme is always underpressure

I agree you don't need to be fast to be a playmaker but you don't need to be slow because it is likely you will lose the ball but when you look at zidane, he's not the fastest player in the world but he is not that slow too and he has skills and balance to hold of players to find the perfect pass like a typical player.

Also Fifa 100 is also reliable as there are players there that dont play for europe and are good playmakers - e.g. Veron is a better playmaker playing for a non-european team and he was named in the FIFA 100 AND at the age of over 30, he is in the starting line-up for Argentina whilst Riquelme doesn't even get called up nowadays. Also most of the players you mentioned on the list have average speed and are in the FIFA 100
