  • I read the book return to oz, but I nvr saw the movie. I liked it, I read nearly the entire Oz series

  • Oh I love explorers, prince of Egypt, rescuers down underXD!!!!!

Rescuers down under would look SO COOL in 3D, I mean come on! U wanna put beauty & the beast in 3D but not this? I mean I love Beauty & the beast, but y in 3D? There's no point! I mean at least lion king has like the stampede & stuff that would look cool in 3D

  • Huzzah, for your # 1 pick. It's still a fantastic movie, even now, 30 years later.

  • He forgot Balto. ='(

  • The last starfighter

  • I wanna know what that song was when it played during babe

  • @sexyshinyashots edith piaf - nein no regrette

  • That Tiny Toons film terrified me as a child. I can't put my finger on why, but it scares me.

  • the tiny toons hitch hikers is casey jones

  • Antz?

  • 11 on settings the castle for beauty and the beast is in Germany not France, but the main character is supposed to be French

  • Dude, I am soooo glad you mentioned The Secret of NIMH!!!!! I loved that movie ever since I was 3! Haven't seen it in a long time but it has been and always will be one of my all-time favorites. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for reminding me of this childhood classic!

  • i use to watch iron giant all the time when i was a time, theres something about it i just loved.

  • @BlueRise85 You watched all the time when you were a time?

  • Wow, Scarecrow really fucked up Oz didn't he? lol

  • Rescuers Down Under really should be re-released in 3D!!! I keep saying it and I'm not going to stop until someone listens to me!

  • Flight of the navigator is awesome, and holds nostalgic value to me. That and the Goonies are my 2 favorite movies from my childhood. I like other movies from my childhood too, but not as much as Navigator and Goonies.

And I agree with the Prince of Egypt review. That movie is epic, with great visuals and music.

  • Now I know why The Secret of Nimh is his favorite, and watching his videos I find out why I consider him The King of YouTube. Shane Dawson had a good start but he changed after a while so he's not exactly my favorite anymore. The Nostalgia Critic isn't perfect I know that but what he does and and how he explains stuff makes sense. He points the dumb plot holes, explains how stupid some things are, turing boring shit into hilarious gold, and giving good life lessons. I crown him king.

  • I'll admit, Babe made me cry as a kid.

  • Awww, no Titan A.E.? Sad face.

  • the rocketter sucked

  • I want to watch Rescuers down-under again.

  • Mask of the phantasm is one of my favorite movies, I did hope it did better since I saw it in theaters. I tried watching return to oz here but the audio is out of sinc. I aslo saw prince of egypt in theaters, but not being very biblical myself I have yet to get the DVD. aS for secret of nym, it was a masterpeice deserving of being number one.

If don bluth still animated we'd still have classic 2D animation instead of all this 3D. Seriously, i miss 2D animation.

  • Happily s- WHAT!?

  • Prince of Egypt is one of my favorite films animated or otherwise. It's such a fun, yet dark movie and fills me with a sense of warmth whenever I watch it. As for Iron Giant, as a kid I really liked this movie, but it's a film that I haven't seen in years, and has sort of faded to the back of my mind. As for Return to Oz, I've never seen it, but after seeing it on this review, I'm really interested in seeing it.

  • I actually enjoyed both Babe movies. They both seemed light-hearted and fun, yet weren't too childish. Mask of the Phantasm is byfar one of my favorite Batman movies, even though I only saw it a few months back, when it first came out, I barely knew what Batman was, so I had little interest in it, and in time I just forgot about it, and only a search of Google actually reminded me that it was made. The Secret of Nimh, is one of those films I saw and liked but only saw it the one time.

  • I liked RDU better than the first, The bearded dragon was my favorite...

  • To be honest, I didn't like Babe: Pig in the City. In comparison to the first film, it tries way too hard to be wacky and kid-friendly. I still have no idea what the plot of the movie is. I mean, the abuse of wide-angle lens is obvious. I remember hating it as a kid, I tried watching it again, and I still don't like it.

  • OMG Prince of Egypt is my all time favorite Dreamworks film ever. I love the adapted story I love the music I love the minor characters as well as the main ones, and I love the interaction between each character. The relationship between Moses and Ramesis is amazing and the visuals are stunning. This movie needs to be re released on the big screen, but not 3D.

  • I wonder if Tiny Toon was before or after Paul Reuben's fated theater romp... because if it was after, kudos on them referencing him in the theater.

  • It good to see somebody talking about the iron Giant. God i loved that movie as a kid :D

  • When he said rescuers down under and return to oz I felt like "OMG! I thought no one but me liked those movies!!!" over half those movies I enjoyed as a kid and I am glad the nostalgia critic brought them to light:)

  • omg the tiny tunes summer vacation movie my brother and me used to watch it when we were little, yes it was stupid and pointless but we LOVED IT!

  • All animated movies with mice are pretty much the same.

  • @zachzilla26 BULLSHIT!

  • I seriously think that Mask of the Phantasm is by FAR the best Batman movie ever made, even though the quality was so-so even for that time, and the fact that it was stuffed with flashbacks, which I generally hate.

The reason why is that it gives the best portrait of Bruce Wayne. No actor has ever done him justice before or since. Christian Bale's non-dimensional rendition makes me puke.

  • I agree with batman, that was a good movie

  • Comment removed

  • well just like "The Recuers Down Under" i was expecting "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West" to be on the list. but its ohkay.

  • @daingbangus69

that was the film of my childhood

  • Yeesh, the Mask of the Phantasm theme music still gives me chills.

  • Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was my favorite movie as a kid. It had more blood and violence than the animated series and The Joker was badass.

  • If you like secret of nihm you should read the book it is based off of, mrs. Frisby and the rats of nihm. Same story of mrs. F. trying to save her son Timothy before moving day

  • The Iron Giant. That's all I needed to hear.

  • Haha! I saw number 1 coming :D.

  • Love The Prince of Egypt.

  • who here was waiting for the kick when non, je ne reggrette rien played

  • Tiny Toons How I Spent My Vacation was freakin' AWESOME! Still have my VHS since I believe its still yet to be released on DVD.

  • 12.46 the house frodo and sam pass in the first movie

  • @georgel19841 fuck no

  • its funny that i've seen almost all of these movies or atleast heard of them

  • The rescuers had a sequel???? OMG O_O

  • How come I cant find The Secret of Nimh on Youtube? I miss it!

  • @Kennichu Its on netflix :p

  • I knew The Secret of NIMH would win.

  • Song of the South should've been on the list. You never see it around anymore! My dad was lucky to order it on DVD!

  • and and and and and lauren faust helped make the iron giant and we all know what awesome show she made now /) if ya get me

  • @akatsuki15721 hell yes brony

  • @justhammond3 i dont get you, plz tell me

  • @TheLucifer696 ;look up friendship is magic

  • Watership down?

  • batman did bad because the producers were late on advertising.

  • For me, The Prince of Egypt should've been number 1. Just my opinion - I was thoroughly underwhelmed by The Secret of NIMH.

  • you forgot about the DARK CRYSTAL!!

  • The Iron Giant was like my childhood freakin favorite! I am so glad to see I am not the only one who apreciates this!

  • Batman: Mask of Phantasm wasn't that underrated was it??

  • Oh my goodness, the Iron Giant is the reason i have a giant crush on robots like Optimus Prime.

  • but in the first the wizard of oz movie kids were afraid of FLYING MONKEYS

  • the robot in return to oz kind of reminds me of bioshock, and i have no reason why

  • the babe movie is ok but i've seen that movie over 10times on tv and thats a reason why i dont watch tv anymore

  • 11:13 pretty much sums it up.

  • #6 brings back memories.

  • 4:11 i think that's where far east movement got the name of the song from.

  • wasn't #11 reviewed during disneycember?

  • 11. Can't believe this movie is forgotten

    10. If you love Tiny Toons Adventures, YOU'LL LOVE THIS. 9. Silly yet enjoyable. I recommend it. 8. Never seen it. 7. Haven't seen this one either. 6. It's okay. 5. Decent film. 4. Special effects are pretty cheesy. Still a good movie though. 3. Loved it as a kid. Still do. 2. Extremely dark and incredible. Batman fans will love it. 1. One of the greatest animated films ever. It deserves better recognition.

  • I thought "The Iron Giant" was one of the most boring and ridiculous films ever made.

  • also no mention of the goofy movie? balls!

  • @Montork its good, but not great. Its nowhere near Batman: MotP, Prince of Egypt or the other things on this list.

  • @LordManda2 no but its better then rescuers down under and no one ever talks about it. Hell he didn't even mention it during his disneycember bit where he reviewed disney movies all december. he got the fucking 3 cabyarios but not the goofy movie? i honestly think he isn't aware of its existence.

  • @Montork He actually mentioned it in his 'Top 11 Nostalgia Critic I'll never do.'

  • @Montork A Goofy Movie wasn't made by the main animation wing of Disney, it was made by their toon department, the people who make their tv productions and direct to video sequels. If you look up Disney's animated theatrical movie canon, A Goofy Movie isn't on the list for that reason. Doug was only reviewing the Disney animated canon, or their hand drawn animated canon even. Plus, A Goofy Movie was in his "Top 11 nostalgia critics he'll never do", so he is aware of it and its quality.

  • @BigSal51 oh shit your right, i haven't seen that bit until now! holy shit it was by the tv and video sequels department? NO WAY! it was so good! i know they put it out before lion king because lion king was taking longer then expected but i had no idea! shit! still if it was released as a theatrical movie it should have been counted as one. oh well i guess it will always exist in some kind of separated bubble from the rest.

  • @Montork He recently did a Disneycember of A Goofy Movie due to so many people requesting it.

  • @PrinterThorn what? really? i can't find that anywhere...

  • i hate rescuers down under, its all pretty action scenes, the story is so simple it can be told in five seconds.. and yet no one can ever shut up about it. fuck.

  • @Bob27Fat but this was top 11 underrated kids films right? But i totally agree with Jackie Brown

  • My eyes lit up when he mentioned Mask of the Phantasm.

  • Prince of Egypt and Iron Giant are awesome and sadly underrated.

  • HOLEEEEEY SHIT IT'S FRIGGIN IRON GIANT!!!!!!!

    *nostalgiagasm*

  • The Rocketeer and The Prince of Egypt are at the top on my favorites list :)

  • The last two movies are depressing masterpieces. :) / :(

  • i own the rocketeer

  • Great list, but some more adult choices are Paths of glory, D.O.A. (with Dennis Quaid), King of Comedy, Jackie Brown, and Snatch

  • i loved the tiny toons movie as a kid and sl do now that im 15

  • My only problem with "Babe:Pig In The City" were the chimps. They cared about nothing but themselves, and not once in the film did they appear the least bit repentant, nor did their selfishness come back to haunt them. They did not deserve to be part of the movie's happy ending.

Of course, when you consider their owner(Mickey Rooney),whom I'm guessing was intended as this delightful animal lover, but instead came off as some pathetic, creepy old man,for whom I felt NO sympathy when he dies.

  • @snarkus63 If you want to see Some more Carelessness, read the Junior Novel. There are Scenes in there that were deleted from the film.

  • I got to see both batman's at drive in theater when they came out we got to look at both cause it wasnt hard to turn head to see other when a bunch of people are in bed of pick up truck

  • don't forget: Igor, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Megamind, the Great Mouse Detective, The Illusionist, Watership Downs, Dagger of Kamui, Alice (Swedish stop mo), GI Joe, the Movie, The Puppettoon Movie, Asterix and Cleopatra, and the Little Norse Prince.

  • It's such a shame that so few people have seen The Rocketeer. It's like a sci-fi Indiana Jones movie. It was awesome. So was Secret Of Nimh.

  • Maybe it's because I was 13 when I saw it, but the ending of The Explorers was a letdown--I just was disappointed.

  • I actually do not like The Iron Giant. Because Cartoon Network, which doesn't air it's movies once, Cramed it into my face.

  • I practically grew up watching Milo & Otis and The Iron Giant, so I was pretty psyched seeing it on the list.

  • I remember loving "Return to Oz" as a kid becasue I had actually read the Oz books and this movie is closer than the original movie. Love it for that. :)

  • @LibraGamesUnlimited same here!

  • @Leolady4 Yeah if there's one thing I hate is people who never read the books who compare "Return to Oz" with "The Wizard of Oz" and act like the "The Wizard of Oz" is the end all be all of the Oz story. I actually blew one person's mind once listing off all the things "The Wizard of Oz" got wrong compared to the books and how much better the books were (well the ones actually written by Baum and not the ones other people wrote later on). Would love to see faithful movies made.

  • With the tiny toons movie you had to notice Pee Wee Herman in the movie theater with the popcorn in his lap ... and nowadays you think of the incident where he was caught in the movie theather wanking off ... and you'd imagine there's a hole cut into that popcorn bag -.-;

  • Batman:The Mask of the Phantasm was my first Batman film.

  • I was a small kid when Secret of Nmph came out and that movie made me cry. Now that I am older, I do think it was an intense film and it doesn't surprise me that this is #1.

  • @Zodia195 Nimh,its spelled nimh.

  • Dude, the Iron Giant was my movie when I was little.

  • LOVE ALL OF THESE!! except the rocketeer - never seen it

  • Loved it.

  • I LOVE this list. :D

  • I've seen both the prince of Egypt and the ten commandments and they are really awesome

  • omg i thought i was the ONLY ONE who wondered y no one in beauty and the beast had a french accent! XD

  • @MrGoopy1 Yeah Im joking

  • I think I when I was a child, I actually had the pleasure to see Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

  • I love The Rescuers Down Under, it's such a great movie. I saw part of Prince of Egypt a few years ago when my choir sang 'When You Believe.' The Iron Giant's a pretty good movie too. I've seen Return to Oz. The Wheelers are pretty cool. I'm so going to rent the other movies so I can watch them.

  • I agree with most of the critic's picks except for Babe: Pig in the City. I didn't think it was that great of a movie, the original Babe was waaaaay better. I remember watching it in theaters with my mom, she loved the movie so much she went out and bought a Babe piggy bank that talked.

  • this Was BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • two movies ive NEVER seen anyone talk about that i love from my childhood are 1992 - Split Infinity 1993 - Rigoletto

i loved that you topped this list off with Secret of Nimh it's one of the most powerful animated American films ive ever had the joy of seeing.

  • Batman was the shit!

  • I agreed with every movie on the list that I actually knew. and thank you for mentioning flight of the navigator, while I could not remember the name I did like it as a kid although not a single person I know has seen it.

  • My girlfriend's reaction to The Secret of NIMH: "That was cute."

  • VEN DISIEL WAS THE IRON GIANT HOLY SHIT.

  • Tiny Toon Adventures How I Spent My Summer Vacation!!! my friend and i used to watch that allllll the time :D

  • 14:40 But why didn't it have Harley Quinn? She's the best character!

  • wonderful movie picks... The Secret of Nimh makes me cry every time. :) love that movie... :)

  • I did'nt see Babe Pig in the city

  • Yes! I've seen them all

  • I thank the cheer luck I re:found the Secret of N.I.M.H. ^3^

  • What about El Dorado? oWo

  • @violatormelms

I was thinking the same thing!

  • E.T. in Tiny Toons, that's for causin the video game crash of '83

  • I saw the secrets of nimh. Unfortunatly i read the book its based off of first and thought "Wow this is nothing like the book". To be honest i dont think i got to the end of it

  • thumbs up if you have iron giant on dvd no then get it now

  • I really like mature the nostalgia critic was in this video. Also, cuz of him, I wanna see The Secret of Nimh. Hell even the song from it is mind blowing

  • to me this is Nostalgia Critic BEST video. In this video, he seems to be himself rather than his NC persona. Cept even more collective.

  • The Iron Giant is Awesome cause I also have it and no it not on DVD.

  • I cannot believe that people don't even talk about the Prince of Egypt and only one or two of my friends know about this movie :( well at least I have it but not on dvd.

  • Of all the movies that SHOULD be re-released in 3D, Rescuers Down Under is #1!

  • 16.01 the duke from rock a doodle

  • I remember when i was in italia 1 going to switch cause i didn't want to watch tv shows anymore and suddenly Babe came on and said meh okj let me watch like 1 minute of it. I ended watching it all.

  • Wheelers scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • Hey! I love wicked! :(

  • I just watched the Top 11 Drug PSAs before this, and the Peewee Herman "This, is crack" joke during Flight of the Navigator almost killed my lungs.

  • wow for once i completely agree with the nostalgic critic...THE WORLD IS ENDING XD

  • Babe is a good movie but I wouldn't put it so high on the list, maybe not even on the list at all. Your top two picks are certainly deserving, both are gems in Timm's and Bluth's respective collections.

  • the iron giant was one of my favourite films when i was a kid

  • But he forgot The room by tomy wiseau

  • @pochopaz7381 lol your joking right? plz tell me your joking

  • @pochopaz7381 its not underrrated to him his review the room

  • Comment removed

  • I actually loved The Rescuers. I thought it was better than The Rescuers Down Under; I thought that was good, too.

  • return of Oz what a movie , a creepy one but a good one

    i enjoyed it alot

    you, pumkinhead

  • :) I'm totally going to get out the video tapes and watch babe: Pig in the city tomorow...I loved that movie when I was little...

  • @Marbles471 Jee-zus, Ya Dont have to write MASSIVE REPLYS To near everyone!

    7. Explorers! Damn! So THAT'S what that movie I've had vague memories of for 20 years was called!

    6. Poor, underappreciated, neglected Iron Giant. At least Brad Bird later scored it big with The Incredibles, though.

    4. Saw Return to Oz as as kid and was totally weirded out. Saw it again recently and was even more weirded out.

    2. I had never seen Mask of the Phantasm until recently and was amazed at how good it actually was.

    1. Hell yeah.

    2.

  • 11. Yeah! Though I disagree in that I also loved the 1977 original Rescuers. It's as low-key and somber as the sequel is high-flying and lighthearted, but I like that, too.

    10. How I Spent My Summer Vacation is a scream, and I only hope it somehow finds younger viewers who can overlook all the now-outdated references.

    8. I was one of those people who thought Prince of Egypt would have been great if no songs were in it. And you're right----it HAS been totally forgotten.

    (cont)

  • I'm seeing a lot of Iron Giant in the comments... I guess I'll go ahead and favorite this video.

  • The record for the longest gap between a movie and its sequel goes to The Wizard of Oz. Return to Oz showed up forty-six years after its predecessor.

  • I loved Iron Giant it was good, Sad,funny and had a good action scene at the end i saw the movie few days ago on Cartoon Network and i saw it again i loved it.

  • Mask of the phantasm is actually my favorite batman movie.

  • I actually like phantom menace I don't know why people hate it as the villain the two main characters are pretty damn cool

  • Ive always liked the iron giant and Pig in the city. great movies!

  • I loved the Iron Giant when I was a kid! I miss it so much!
