As a former performing musician, I can tell you that it's not childish at all. Performers love breaking up the monotony of performing the same 17 songs every night. When you're out on the road, away form your family for months on end, you welcome someone taking the time to try and make you laugh. Music isn't a joke? The entire point of a show is for people to come together and have a good time and forget about their troubles for a couple hours.

RIght on. Even though it's what you love to do, it's also lots of work. I loved it when we'd write new songs, or change up the older ones. It gets to be a rut like anybody's job. The crap we pull on each other ends up being talked about fondly for years. The funniest things in my life have been practical jokes from the road.

For every Taylor Swift or Brad Paisley, there are dozens of back up musicians, session musicians, composers, producers, engineers that work just as hard as the star to bring you the music that you love. And some people honestly don't want to be stars. They would rather spend their time playing music than doing interviews. I never said I was famous.
