@ChadzBeerReviews Widmer actually brews some very good special beers that I'm sure you don't get in NY. Don't just think they only brew the beers you find in the supermarket.
I had this beer when I was in Florida. I could tell it was old (the liquor store didn't appear to sell a lot of craft beer), but it was still pretty good. It was the only craft beer I found where I was at so I was happy to have it. Not great, but a solid Pale Ale!
Just to correct you on the Craft Brewers Alliance. Anheuser-Busch does not own it. A-B owns own 32% of the business, and that is only for Widmer, Redhook, and Kona to use A-B for their distribution. Goose Island was part of the CBA, but no longer after being bought by A-B earlier this year.
@ChadzBeerReviews Do you normally go around saying that a company is owned by the minority owner? I just get tired of people bashing the CBA brewers by saying their owned by Anheuser-Busch. A-B is only a partner for their distribution network. They have nothing to do with the making of the beer. I think Widmer makes very good beer, but there are always the people who try to discredit them by throwing in the Bud ownership. Really pisses me off,
This is like the only beer they make that I don't think it's good. Not like it tastes bad, but it just has this weird mouth feel. The roastiness and malts don't work with this beer, I believe.
@BeerichiTuba You probably get the actual Hawaiian version on the West Coast. I wonder if there's a diference between their brew and Redhooks' brew? I thought it was pretty good, actually.
there pipeline porter is also delicious i love kona brewing they nailed it

@jeffbrister2004 yeah that's for recommending it. I could see getting a sixer for the next party or BBQ I goto. I think anyone could drink it.

@Ronlb3469 we get most of their line here because it's contract brewed by Redhook.

Yeah, this one is real solid for a pale ale. Nice light hop notes and just a real clean drinking beer. Good for Hawaii weather.

@StumpyJoeJr In retrospect, I think I should've rated it a point higher.

@Ronlb3469 If Bud owns 1/3rd of you then you are owned by Bud in my opinion.

@Ronlb3469 Yeah but all the CBA brewers are supermarket brewers, they're not making top shelf stuff like Southern Tier, Three Floyds, Founders, etc.
If you were 33% dirty would you be surprised if people called you dirty? Or would you say "no, I'm 66% clean! It's not fair to call me dirty"
