  • I feel so sorry for the kids today who are growing up with crap vs. rap. What happened? I still listen to Jay-Z and Kanye some but they don't even come close to the music of this era. Like Nas said - hiphop is dead.

  • Before the MP3. This album and Spellbound by K-Solo fought valiantly for a spot in my Panasonic walkman.

Tony D (produced this song and other PRT joints) I didn't know Tony personally but he always took the time to respond to my emails on my soundclick page and gave me advice on my music, the music biz and tips re: beat production. Seemed like a real cool dude, just saw he passed and wanted to post this.

  • @DEFSCOTTYB what the heck?? Is this Tony Dofat?? He also did Ruff House Survivors..sad indeed..sucks..

  • Comment removed

  • NO DOUBT REAL HIP HOP STANS STRONG ALWAYS!!!!!!!

  • PRT in full & total e-f-f-e-c-t!!

  • Classic shit <3

  • I love this video. But people, please stop leaving these silly comments about yesterday's Hip Hop and todays. Im a musician and understand why there's a difference. Do your history before you be so careless to exalt one and condemn the other. Hip Hop like this will not sustain today. It's like you putting Jaws in the movies today. It's classic, we love it, but the reality is that things have evolved. From the tube tv, to plasma, from beta to blu ray. Things evolve, Hip Hop has too

  • @CALICOTV301 What hip hop has done is not evolution. It's just plain change. Most music types have changed and evolved a little. But hip hop has devolved. I can listen to rock music from the 50's, 60's , 70's and later and find a connection. I do not find that with hiphop. Ask a kid knowadays about their favorite hip hop song and they'll tell you they like a song because of the beat. Not what is says or how the lyrics flow. It was different back then.

  • @CALICOTV301 hip hop has not gotten better this shit wack as fuck but you are right everything else has gotten better BUT hip hop has gotten worse it has not progressed it has regressed.

  • @illmatic826 Define "Worse." You have to realize that music at a certain level becomes a business. It keeps millions employed. If Hip Hop turned to what it was yesterday, it would flop, and there'd be many unemployed. From publicists, to lawyers, to radio personalities, video gamers, movies, etc.

So lyrically, production wise, etc. Things have advanced. Jadakiss doesn't rhyme like Grandmaster Flash. In addition, it's a business. If McDonalds so you other than what they are, it would plummet

  • @CALICOTV301 OH I see you one of dem mainstream lovers well tell me this if today is so much better then why does everybody sound the same, name me 5 new "original" artist thats mainstream that dont talk about money, bitches, or that punk ass swagg but I do admit you made some good points about the business side of it but thats just it hip-hop is so watered down & coorporate now that someone like soulja shit get more props than someone like Rakim & Nas but name me 5 lyricist today you cant do it

  • @illmatic826 If you see that, then either my message went WAY over your head, or it was WAY to low. I listen to NPR before I listen to the radio. I listen to underground like myself, Vinnie Paz, RA the Rugged Man, Hiero, etc.

Again, I think you missed my point. Peace

  • @illmatic826 Illmatic. I mean, Hip Hop is a business. What's selling is the stuff that makes people dance. The simple stuff. People don't like to think on the dancefloor. They want to be able to chant it, and have fun. It's mostly the young crowd. That's what they grew up on, so to them, it's what's hot. I just spoke to a young guy, he said Waka is better than KRS. He looked at KRS like an old man. So I understand why that is. So if he's buys Waka, thats what has to be sold. It's business

  • @CALICOTV301 Your mate is a toy.

  • @illmatic826 Hip Hop during this time didn't make much money, so not so much hinged on it for survival. Now, without Hip Hop, movies wouldn't have soundtracks, video games, etc. Soulja Boy (millions) has more myspace fans than Jadakiss (a little over 200k). If you run a business, and really care nothing about Hip Hop, who would you invest in, who sounds better, or who sells better? Sorry to say, but it's the reality. If the people stop buying it, then maybe this will come back. Until then, nada

  • love it!

  • 1:45 precious

  • lyrical murder to the fullest

  • one of my favorite rap groups

  • JERSEY!!!!!! They was killing it!!

  • NEW JERSEY HIP HOP HEADS STAND UP!!!

  • Peace to the Gods and Earths, first and foremost, But ummmm.......Tell me Wise ain't Killin dem Skinny Jeans! Just sayin.

  • bien oldschool comme j'aime

  • The fugees sampled "before I manifest the rhyme" for their song "manifest"

  • Pure butta!!!

  • how does this video not have over a million hits? the problem with people today is that they don't know what real hip hop is.

  • so many memories

  • this is a CLASSIC!! rock dis funky joint

  • this is a damn classic

  • Was just watching Weeds and heard this phrase asalaam alikum..... wa'alikum asalaam....and the first thing i thought about was PRT....Damn i miss the ole' days.....Peace

  • yo, Wise Intelligent of Poor Righteous Teachers was interviewed for the book 'H0W T0 RAP - The Art and Science of the Hip-Hop MC '

Def worth checking out if you like real, classic HipHop and complex lyricism, there is a ton of knowledge dropped in that book

  • @bripell62 STOP SPAMMING HIP HOP

  • @bripell62 yeah well put together i just thought they catered for the maintstream rather than the art by interviewing a few simple rappers.. some real gems dropped from the best tho

    peace

  • this group put the city on the map when hip hop "jumped" to another level! much love and respect to killa homes

  • what up

  • Aww damn whoever uploaded this thank u...i used to have this tape back in the day

  • @Jay8941 Damn, I did, too. As a white, 13 year-old suburban kid this intelligent hip hop (PRT, PE, KRS-ONE, etc.) opened my eyes more than anything else and has completely shaped my world view to this day.

  • This is my type of hip hop. There are some terrible songs from back in da day, but not as much as today. Not everybody could drop a 12" back then. Nowadays anybody can drop a wack track on the Internet. You have to wade through a lot of self-produced crap to get to the blood, sweat and tears stuff. Good music needs to prevail, no matter the age. Good music should also be able to last...like this track.

  • I'm 34 years old. We had some good times back in the days. You couldn't get into the cypher if you could not rhyme. You always had the backpack crew that could flat out dance. Clear the floor. No gold. Peace signs around your neck. Miss those days.

  • WWWWWWOWWWW! ThAT was awesome shiggidy. What The HELL happened to good, naw, GREAT hip hop????

  • I fish under that bridge at least 10x a year. Friggin awesome!

  • @SROD12321 where is that bridge? what city state

  • @brooklynse It connects Morrisville, PA and Trenton, NJ over the Delaware River. Locally we call it the "Trenton Makes" bridge. It's a pretty cool political message that you rarely see advertised so big on a bridge like that.

Oh and we fish right where they were dancing (underneath the bridge).

  • @SROD12321 Damn dude.you a local? where you from? donelly homes? roger gardens? wilbur section? chambersburg? I grew up in donelly homes where this video was shot. the lil guy at 3:43 name was tracy. he passed a couple of years ago.

  • I needed this, this new so called Hip Hop can't touch this. Yo, I am repurchasing this album on Itunes today!

  • Shows you how much influence Public Enemy had. During the late 80's early 90's lot of conscious rap came out after PE. X Clan, Brand Nubian, tribe called quest and too many others to mention. I know there are some conscious rappers out here but people dont want to hear nowadays they want to SEE. Thats why so many are blind these days because they dont hear and listen all they want to do is see.

  • @brothaman101 Peace...What's good brothaman?

  • did anyone see the lil guy dancing lol!!!

  • @oklayboi LOL
