I think we differ on the definition of Rights. I wish I had my Black's Law Dictionary - But a Right is Your freedom that government cannot take from you, it is your will, your own course which you determine as a free agent with no coercion ir interference government. A government cannot be said to have denied a right by not providing the means to ones wishes. Public education is not a right. Education is, but not if you are getting it for free. Does that make sense?
The reason it was taken out of schools is because many students were upset that they had to learn about black history but they weren't learning about their race. What about Native American why can't we learn about our history in school and teach it to other people we were here first. So until we ALL get our own months to learn about our ancestry (which will never happen because there's no where near enough months in a year) then you need to do research in your own time like we've had to.

We have laws you know in regards to reasonable suspicion, its nothing new, its been there since 1791. The Arizona law states that race cannot be a factor. I know alot of latinos and they rarely get pulled over. If you have valid docs, like a drivers license or state id, then you have nothing to worry about.

I wish I had my Black's Law Dictionary - But a Right is Your freedom that government cannot take from you, it is your will, your own course which you determine as a free agent with no coercion ir interference government. The reason it was taken out of schools is because many students were upset that they had to learn about black history but they weren't learning about their race. What about Native American why can't we learn about our history in school and teach it to other people we were here first. So until we ALL get our own months to learn about our ancestry (which will never happen because there's no where near enough months in a year) then you need to do research in your own time like we've had to.

This is an old story. Its not just racism, but also fascism that were now dealing with. It doesn't matter what you look like, if the cops want to fuck with you, then you look illegal. Many a surprised white person have found that out recently. Anyone can be detained & harassed if the cop even has a 1/100 doubt in his mind that your a citizen.

Maybe Arizona does not want cheap slaves though. Take California for example; jobs are scarce, and the demand for social services such as unemployment are higher in demand. We both know that those social services are paid for by tax payers, right? Tax payers who have jobs, and the higher the taxes, the less they are motivated to work.

You have to give a cop a reason to contact you. J-walking, littering, speeding, etc., then if the cop wants to ask you to prove "lawful presence" he will ask for in ID. You do carry ID, right?

Racial profiling already frequently occurs among the African American population and no its not because all of them are riding dirty, because just as many white people as black have been caught but blacks get prosecuted more. racial profiling. Lets say there was a robbery in progress, and the people who saw the robbery stated that it was black guy with a blue and green shirt with baggy jeans. Are you going to look for people who has blue and green shirts or baggy jeans, no you are going to look for the black guy who has match that. And if you are in the vicinity and happen to wear that, then you are going to be questioned period.

@showlivia Last time I checked, Mexican is not a race, its a nationality. And thats what the law states, you have to have a reasonable suspicion to stop someone. If there was a crime that took place such as a robbery and you similarity fit the description of the robber, I am going to question you because thats reasonable suspicion. If you have a broken taillight on the car, thats enough to stop you because its a safety violation. Smell like you drunk alcohol, thats enough to question you.

@showlivia you are missing the point. Lets say that someone is speeding, you are going to get pulled over and its not because of your race, its because of the action that you have done. We have laws you know in regards to reasonable suspicion, its nothing new, its been there since 1791. The Arizona law states that race cannot be a factor. I know alot of latinos and they rarely get pulled over. If you have valid docs, like a drivers license or state id, then you have nothing to worry about.

It is important for understanding the interactions between countries and cultures and understanding each other deeper than stereotypical views. Most ideologies don't correspond to reality. its not about the who" i need to know about my heritage" its about a need for recognition from the academy as a true discipline.

School districts have limited amount of time and money to cover a lot of subjects. You have to weigh some over the other. Ethnic studies don't promote social productivity

There was writing, as well as astronomy, pluming, medicine and great civilazations here LONG before Europe colonized. Mainstream history teaches lies. Lies breed resentment. Ethnic studies curb this resentment by telling the truth.
