  • Can a glass jar with glass media work as well, or is this doomed to fall apart?

  • @lullie0911

    DONT USE GLASS JAAARRR!!

  • Gd kenex but definitely led balls

  • Swap the jar for a glass one & lead balls & we have a winner, thanks for the sharing the kinex idea.very clever

  • nie podoba mi sie to kurwa

  • Never use steel balls with a metal can, they can spark upon impact and ignite the black powder. Basically a pipe bomb...

  • nerd ><

  • hit puberty halfway through? lol, compare his voice in the beginning and end

  • i like your use of knex

  • You should NEVER use steal ball. only lead. as Steal will couse a spark and blow the can up like a pipe-bomb

  • @cyberjackcyberjack Depends what mixture you have, stainless steal shouldn't cause any sparks and even if it did you'd have to have more powerful ingredients than KNO3, S, and C. If it were flash powder (Al, KNO4, C,) then you'd have to take extreme care. Or Thermite.

  • I got thit one out of a remot contwolled cah" i love that accent hahaha

  • Gay

  • @lionsforlyons what about plastic ;)

  • Title plus discription FAIL.

  • @TerminatorFRA DO NOT USE LEAD BALLS, IF THE DUST PARTICLES ARE INHALED YOU WILL DIE

  • @ThePyrotube 2 things:

I don't think that there will be lead dust

And everyone grinding whatever chemicals, should know that you should use proper safe precautions (like, a mouth cap to prevent inhaling any dust)

  • @ThePyrotube Use lead balls, you'll be fine.

  • I wouldn't put all the ingredients in a ball mill anyway. The risk is too great. Combine them after milling them individually.

  • could u use glass marbels?

  • hey my ball mill keeps acting up it runs like a champ then out of nowhere the media and bp get stuck and it starts spinning off balance and no grinding happens all the stuff on the inside just stops spinnin! please help if you know what to do!

  • @panzuman its because one of your chemical is a little moist next time let them dry out in the sun before you start to mill and the chemical is most likely your potassium nitrate

  • @MrCoreyBrantley well thats a problem i cant fix lol i live in florida and our humid weather is not kind to most pyrotechnics :(

  • @panzuman haha ya i live in colorado so everything is really dry i just made some bp but it burns really slow cuz i havent made a ball mill yet

  • @MrCoreyBrantley hey i actually found a ball mill tut on here it supposed to be a starr roller but hey works like a ball mill and and ive made some of the best bp ever! of course it took me a couple of days due to my humidity problem heres the title if you copy it into the search bar it should come right up How To Make a Firework Star roller part 1 of 3 ball mill

  • if ur making black powder grind kno3 with sulfur together then emty gconents and the grind the charcoal seperatly and then mixtogether which ever way u prefer

  • then ball mill it for a good 3 hours then granulate it and you have perfect black powder

  • nice gun

  • nice vid but not being funny but metal balls in a metal tin if that sparks while its milling !!!!!!!BOOM!!!!!!! perfect claymore mine in your living room if u have have to use it this way mix dont mix them together

  • ur absoultely right u need to use a plastic bottle and some ceramic ball bearings otherwise its a ticking time bomb

  • @Jman999000 Really? I would rather use the metal can and metal balls than plastic. You don't generate static electricity with metal but you do with a lot of plastics. For instance, using a vacuum cleaner to suck up petrol would be EXTREMELY dangerous. In any case its not as if he has got flints in there as well is it? Also there isn't much in the way of percussive forces to create a spark.

  • baked bean cans are shit for ball mill because all the powder goes in the ridges in the side of the can

  • use a table fan instead of a RC motor, but nice 5*

  • lol his voice changed

  • you can ball mill all of the chemicals 4 black powder cause none of them are shock sensitive

  • There is a small chance that the balls spark. Best is to use lead or aluminum balls.

  • @Bakkiepleuah

lead and antimony are very good becaus they dont create sparks

  • @Bakkiepleuah or glass marbels

  • ha cant wait til ur mill sparks and u blow up ur house or kill urself.

  • Just felt like saying that for no reason?

Fucking ignorant 13 year old faggot.

  • nice use of the ol toys mate. 5/5

  • his voice broke

  • please re-do the vid as your idea is bloody brilliant and is well worth showing off, good to see people using their brains,i will now use a similar design as yours, 5*s for your ball mill!! but the vid is not good...thanks for sharing:)

  • Wow, explaining description...

  • shit, the video's messed up

  • A few questions.. I've seen on several pyro sites about how dangerous ball milling pyro stuff is (but they didn't mention black powder, just that it's dangerous), that you should find a secluded area, barricade it with sand bags etc, so, is it safe to ballmill black powder in your own home? Also, if it is, is a plastic container good, or should I find myself another container?

  • DONT do it in your house!,the chances of explosion is low but still there, use ONLY lead balls or ceramic balls NOT GLASS!! DO NOT USE STEEL THEY WILL SPARK!! plastic container will be fine but again stick with the stated grinding media, the sand bags are a very good idea to surround the ballmill and to come higher by a good ft or so, depending on your envoironment(houses/buildings ect) as u have a potential bomb also keep the lid a pop fit so if it does ignite it'll flare out rather than explode

  • @ARCEYE78 Not glass? So marbles wouldn't work? Explain.

  • @IEatGuns they are simply too light, but my info is from a friend who does this but i can understand heavier is better :)

  • You should never ball mill all the chems for black powder together, otherwise it can be dangerous. Mill them separately into a fine powder and then mix them together outside of the ball mill. Any container should be fine if you do it this way.

  • crappy vid good idea

  • What if all I have is Legos?

  • there are motors for legos too

  • how do you think steel .177 bbs would work (the small ones)

im grinding aluminum to make alluminum powder

  • You could get Altimers breathing that shit.

  • Actually, its spelled Alzheimer's

  • Watchout when milling metals. They can spontaniously ignite when you open the lid. Make sure to leave some fresh air in the container by opening it every 30min.

  • u cant use this

  • well if its JUST aluminum, you should be fine, but when you get into combustible materials like black powder, use lead, or brass.

  • brass tumbling pellets are recommended by the teleflyte corp

  • CAN I USE MARBLES FOR BALL MILL? DO THEY MAKE SPARK? i NEED TO KNOW THE 4TH IS COMEING UP SOOON (;

  • marbles ar glass so no the wont spark

  • they can...

  • you can use coins, like nickels.

  • ban u sub anything for the ball barings such as dead AA batteries?

  • Buddy you are asking for big trouble using metal balls in a ballmill, it only a matter of time before it turns into a grenade. You only need one spark and its all over rover. You SHOULD ONLY use either lead balls or ceramic, anyone else dont follow this guys instructions unless you want to seriously harm yourself

  • I can see the hazard of using none lead of ceramic balls for mixing black powder but is this a danger if your mixing charcoal?

  • I agree with you there, personally I would only ball mill the charcoal and sulfur together, then ball mill the potassium/sodium nitrate separately, once all ingredients are ball milled then just screen them together. You would have to be pretty unlucky to have BP ignite in a ball mill if only using lead or ceramic balls but strange things happen from time to time.

  • ok i choose to get hurt

  • gayyy. u can blow up that way.

  • do not use any metallic compounds in you mediocre set up!!!!

    ...stupid americans

  • you do know were the united kingdom is right?? cuz its not the us....... its england

  • oh srry, im not from uk or us, im kinda new at youtube, im still learning how to comment

  • seriously.. this is a kid whos not even old enough to own guns.. did you really think he'd know what hes doing?

  • I just made mine inspierd by your idea thank you i use a glas jar and glas media for now i'm gonna get led media soon i think.

    -Greets DESTROYER-

  • I would not use glass media most likey it will break and cause sparks making your ballmill into a pipe bomb

  • I ran it for 4-5 hours with glass media none of the glass media broke and it didn't explode :) ill try to get lead ones thou. Thanks for the response.

  • the little k'nex roller and car motor concept was pretty clever, but the fact that you are using a tin can and steel balls makes you seem very unintelligible. a spark could happen and send your ass to the hospital or a morgue. please exercise more spark prevention and caution when making a machine that deals with explosives.

  • the spark would'nt be enough to set it on fire.

anyway if he was milling the potassium nitrate separately from the charcoal and sulphur it wouln't be a problem

  • @AlexWerkmeister im using marbles and a tin can..... is that okay? also do i granulate after ball milling???

  • @AlexWerkmeister He's probably making the gun powder himself which means its going to be too impure to ignite from that much friction

  • @AlexWerkmeister hmm i would go for led balls.. but to keep and make it easy for myself, i would go for the big boulders, wich you can buy at any toystore :P the funpart of this too is that the big boulders have a nice colour :P and there glass ofcourse.

  • @AlexWerkmeister black powder isn't friction vulnerable, it's in fact an excellerant/propellant NOT an explosive, and a spark wouldn't be enough to cause it to react; plus it wouldn't explode it would just set alight quite fast.

  • @TheTrueSong n explode n black powder can react with a spark i ignited bp once that way

  • @TheTrueSong A spark wouldn't ignite black power?! How do you think flintlocks work? You are confusing black powder and smokeless powder.

  • @SuperJogvan Not really, I agree you'd have to be more careful towards the end of the milling process but other than that the black powder is not fine enough to be igniting with just a spark. I do agree that having all the chemicals in at once is one of stupidest things anyone can do, but the chances are that it won't blow up. Use lead balls as a precaution though...

  • @AlexWerkmeister Not enough power in his ingredients to do that, and they aren't explosives, they're excellerants. The finished result is explosive :D But like you'd ever mix them at once ahah

  • Lead media is easy to get, just go to a fishing store and they'll have lead balls as weights for fishing lines.

There will be a hole through them, but that won't really be a problem (just clean them out with a needle or something if you're gonna grind something else)

  • @AlexWerkmeister I'm pretty sure you don't mean 'unintelligible'

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh runnnnnnnnnn hes gone an made a time bomb.... sooner or later KAAAAABOOOOOOOMMMM

  • I use a empty peanut butter jar it works great my only problem is that the marbles are not heavy enough I have to buy lead

  • I made a similar one like this. I tested it with aluminum and after about 10 minutes of run time, I touched the can and it actually took a shock of static (from my hand to the can). Very bad idea if you use black powder or whatever.

  • yes he is

  • Can u use glass marbles??? cheers

  • yeah you can its actually much safer than using metal balls or you can use small BB's i use really small bb's for my pelet gun

  • fair enough a beantin would work but steal/whatever ballbearings! what a tit I would think ceramic would be best, please correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Does anyone know if I can use a plastic cylinder? I mean PVC.. Won't it build up any static electricity? Thnx.

  • no using plastic is better than this numb nuts idea and lead balls {fishing sinkers} a spark is bad very bad....the idea this guy had wasn't bad just no metal cans

  • lead balls don't spark, but steel and geomag balls might spark............

  • lol its well fine

  • how should i use that thing cut all the stars and put em in the mill without rolling the balls fromself?

  • what is it ?

  • where do i get lead bals ?

  • You can make yourself!

    Its simply!

  • how ? :D

  • You just make a gypsum negative ball form (chill) (not important to make a correct ball) with a hole (where you put inside the melted lead)!

After when the gypsum dried (the perfect dried out is needed) you can fill up the (chill) with liquid lead.

You must wear safety gloves, glass and mask!!!

    That is all!

  • The point of using a ball mill, is to grind your chemicals with no risk of sparking!!!! I thought a metal tin was bad enough, but they you used metal BB's!!! You got to use glass, or ceramic marbles instead.

  • he used lead balls which are 100% safe here.

the can is probably also spark-free...

  • Lead barely sparks -try throwing one against a rock wall-

  • he specifically said he was using steel balls lead balls would probably be best, these little balls found in geomap?

regardless he certainly didn't stress the importance of spark prevention.

  • the point of the mill is to grind your stuff down into a fine powder

and your best off using ceramic balls if possible so theres no sparks.

  • and lead, dont forget that.

    it's 100% spark free. :D

  • yea an after posting i realised that ceramic can chip an you dont need filler in the black powder adding weight an doing nothing.

  • Kind of, but the real point is to mix the ingredients for maximum surface contact between the different elements.

  • yep more surface area means the chain reaction of the burning goes quicker and smoother.

If you didn't mill down your powder it would be like being smothered with a pillow. breathing becomes slow and unpredictable.

  • wats the point of the mil

  • what dose the ball mill do?

  • it grinds the powder into finer powder

  • glass marbles can chip and that will fuck up your mixture

  • too bad use lead fishing sinkers or iron cast balls both work the same...

  • is it ok to use glass marbles instead of leadballs?

  • Kind of.

If you use glass balls, you're 99% safe from the black powder exploding from a spark, but if you use lead balls, you're 100% safe.

Just mix the chemicals separately, and you'll be fine.

  • how did u connect the gear wheel to the other wheels to make them spin plz tell me

  • nice little frag grenade u made there

  • xXKentoXx sorry about the spam tag --

    misclick

  • just get those some cheap ass rock polishers

  • havnt seen it yet :)

  • for those who are really good in chemistry, can the kaliumnitrate in gunpowder being changed for kalkamonsalpeter?

  • no it cant m8

  • im not sure if im right here but just adding pottasium would change it to kalkamonsalpetre since pottasium nitrate is saltpetre. there wouldnt be any change if its the case but its jsut a matter of adding pottasium.

(if im wrong please some1 say haha)

  • hey man, im just getting into pyro technics and ive been studying how the ball mill runs and works. ive noticed that it needs an engine, time belt, and two rolling sticks. I noticed many people use a remote control engine or something and i just wanted to know if u could use like a plug in fan for an engine, where would i get a time belt, and for the rolling sticks i figured a few skate bearings with wodden dowels would do let me know if u think this would be a good ball mill cool man

  • a fan motor works really well, and remember to use lead balls because they dont spark

  • would like glass marbles work?

  • i dont know i could test it i guess

  • inside the ball mill to crush your chosen chemical into powder? No, they will spark and depending on your chosen chemical this can be very bad. You should only use lead balls.

  • Glass marbles will spark?

  • I didn't think they would but apparently they do so you should use lead or ceramic only. Although the ceramic balls are harder to find and more expensive. Just use lead (fishing sinkers, be sure they are lead though).

  • yea it does work better if you use lead balls, i am also in to pyro techinics and i am currently working on a fire cracker bomb that is about 2 ft. long and im almost done it should be on my youtube account later this year.

  • Do you need a lisence to do that?

And if you do,did you get one,or have you not gotten caught?XD

  • COMMENT 100 W00T LOL! lol this isn't a very good video

  • hitler sucks

  • i made one simler and manule but it works great

  • BUSh SUCKS

  • Those are steel balls.. They'd spark.

  • anyone know if this would powder magnesium granules into a fine powder?

  • i think so, a big round battery works well though

  • no i mean as in can you powder the magnesium, not use it as media

  • you can powder it by rolling the big battery over the magnisium

  • really ,cool should i take off the plastic bit so i just have the metal battery bit?, ty anyways

  • it doesn't matter, i mean it rolls and crushes doesn't it?

  • i will try but im guessing it will work really slowly

  • naww i tried it, not with maginisium but it takes like 2 mins. check out my how to make a sparkler bomb vid. and u'll see

  • putin suck

  • chrome is better.

  • wtf ??? I have a mini cannon...but you undersdand when I shot with it.

  • Very innovative ball mill. Good work!

  • u r right BUSH SUCK

  • so!!! i dont understand!!?????????

  • what is it for????

  • are u stupid, its the best way to make blackpowder because it mixes the mat's the best so go fuck yourself

  • wow you realy think everybody is a douche. i bet your a disposable douche too. please stop commenting stupid (douche)*cough*

  • Ya ur right

  • It's safer to do it with water so the consistancy is a litle more viscous than paste. Then after it's done, spread it out on a tray and allow time for the water to fully evaporate (at room temp or so).. Presto. (both ways are however valid and have their own merits)

  • y does your voice change ????? lol

  • whats wrong with sitting for about 2 hours grinding it up with a motar and pestel?

  • just, 2 hours of constany grinding is really long....(baicly impossible)

  • yeah you would have a hell of an armache. how well does a jar full of pennies or q
