if your chasing real power, dont start spending money on a 6, if you want a nice daily driver with a bit of balls. then the i6 is good. im telling you now u wont get 200rwkw out of your car if you keep it n/a. if the xc has an 8 in it. then this is the car the i would be putting money into. just my opinion

even though they use heaps of fuel the ed falcon are still very cheap performance cars as even when they are stock they go hard.Now you can buy ed's for next to nothing.
yeah they are great value, and i love the shape of them i wont buy anything else lol, and mine have never really chewed the fuel, i was always getting 550-600 ks from a tank, although the big cam and no tuning turned that into about 250-300km lol
I m probably getting about 250-300 km on my ed but it hasnt been serviced for years and has well over 200 kays on it.Even though i have i m not very impressed by the unreliability of some ford models in the past.I do think the ed was a great model and extremely reliable with great performance.Also was the ed body lighter than the au body as i d imagine you would get better performance from the au engine being in the ed.Due to power to weight ratio.
yeah it would have some advantage for sure being in the ed, 250-300 is bAD! change your oxygen sensor, coolent temp and map, you'l be up to 500ks+ unless your motor is fucked lol or your injectors are leaking etc..
i also think it needs a major service aswell and a good tune up is its due for one.The motor seems ok although it is starting to get a bit tired as the ed used have a very twitchy acceleraction were as now it seems a bit slower.But i have noticed parts are extremely cheap for ed's i even saw a ed engine with 180 k's go for $350 on ebay.Also its not leaking any fluids aswell.So thats a good sign.
does the au xr6 engine just fit in or do you have to get a au xr6 gearbox aswell and make a few modifications to fit it into a ed.Also is it a good way to get fairly cheap performance aswell.
yeah it fits just need to grind the fins on the front of the sump, and cut the A/C bracket so the dizzy can be dropped in. as for performance... the AU motor is stronger and VERY smooth, but you can get plenty of go with a stock ed motor and a cam + good exhaust, diff gears, or you could go the manual way.
you could leave the head stock and get a descent cam for $400 depends whether its VCT or not, 4.11's are about $500 fitted providing you have a 3.45 diff from factory.
4g???????? a cam should cost about $400? a flash tune for your car au?? should be about 800 odd AU xr8s go very hard with a good cam and exhaust with a tune because they have GT40P Heads and Intake. Id say my ed woulda cained a stock xr8 :P its a LOW 14's car
Sure you can get a cam for that price, but if your not a back yard mechanic like me....Places quote you 4g :(....Flash tune is about 1200 all up. Yours has a race cam? Do you struggle with idleing? Also does rough idle stuff ur engine?
what a rip.... Yes the idle is very much "drag car is" it lumps from 700-1000 contsantly its nice, im not sure if a lumpy idle fucks the motor....its probably not the best thats why i had my idle turned up a bit.
lol well i spent a fair bit, the head work plus cam was $2200 including purchase of the tickford head, the AU motor was $700 with 50,000k on the clock, 3" zorst $1400
4.11;s $500 shift kit $2 :P i made it, this car is now off the road, got a nice black Fairmont now in Immacualte nick, putting this gear in that car except with a manual and 3.45 diff gears and maybe a more Computer friendly cam for the time being.
