not made of cheaper material. the thing that i can see that make it cheaper is that it has button buttons first off. next is the over all material used is less. The power supply is smaller and not integrated into the machine. blu ray drives are alot cheaper now, running $110 at avg. ( as apposed to $500-550 2 years ago) smaller CPU at 45nm from original 90 nm. and less parts that perform more functions. i think that the original had 4000+ parts, this one has just around half that.
