  • Lovely always....

  • That information comes from MILESAGO: Australasian Music & Popular Culture 1964-1975.

  • The lineup on the album is thought to have included members of renowned Sydney jazz-rock band Crossfire (Mick Kenny, Jim Kelly, Tony Buchanan, Phil Scorgie, Ian Bloxom, and Steve Hopes) and certainly Kelly and Buchanan were among the busiest session players in Sydney at that time.

  • Andy’s backing band by this stage was Zenta (Rick Alford, guitar; Paddy Lelliot, bass; Trevor Norton, drums; Glen Greenhalgh, vocals). However, the musicians on Andy's 1975 recordings were all seasoned Aussie session players.

  • Another recording from these sessions ("Turn Me On") was played once during a radio interview with Andy, but the album (which would have appeared early in 1976) was never released.

  • At some stage during mid-1975 Andy recorded thirteen songs -- enough for an LP -- produced by Col Joye at ATA Studios; all were originals by Andy, except a cover of Don McLean's "Winter Has Me In Its Grip". His debut single "Words and Music" / "Westfield Mansions" was issued in Australia on ATA in August 1975, and a planned second single "To a Girl" / "Walking Along" was assigned a catalogue number, but was never released.

  • Andy Gibb first recording, "To A Girl" was taped at ATA studios probably in September 1974, apparently while the Bee Gees were touring Australia, since it featured Andy's brother Maurice on organ, and Maurice and John Alderson contributed to the song.

  • Gibb family went back many years, and Col and Phil had played a significant role in helping the young Bee Gees establish their career in Australia in the early 1960s. Andy, the youngest Gibb brother, had spent most of his youth in the UK, but on the advice of oldest brother Barry, he returned to Australia in 1974 to launch his own music career. He began writing his own songs, put together a backing band (Melody Fayre), began performing, and signed with the Joye Music publishing company.

  • Andy Gibb family moved to Australia in 1967. He formed Zenta in Australia and tour with Bay City Rollers in 1975. In 1976 he got got married to Australian.

  • @MrCheekytony Andy Gibb's family moved to Australia in 1957... The Bee Gees left Australia in '67.

  • @nzoz1975

The Gibb family moved to Australia when Andy Gibb was just 6 years old. ARIA (Australia Record Industry Association) Awards 2011 paid tribute to Andy Gibb and Maurice Gibb on 26 November.

  • @MrCheekytony I didn't know he toured with Bay City Rollers. He must have been only 17 or 18 then. He is so cute here. I wish I had it on DVD. Did anyone notice his crooked tooth? Small imperfection, must have got fixed later. Those Gibbs always seem to have perfect smiles:) I sure miss Andy, I have loved him since I was a kid.

  • Andy is beautiful as always.....the backing music on this song is astoundingly good!

  • you can hear The Hustle in the background

  • @Insaneindumembrain I get what you're saying, and I'm a female. However not all the women Andy was associated with were as you out it ''whores''. His first wife Kim seemed to be a lovely, grounded girl.

  • This is a beautiful song... it's almost a throwback to all the Bill Shepherd Bee Gees hits... it's a sound that I would liked the Bee Gees to stay with, as opposed to the disco route they went on.

  • my first true love!!

  • What a beautiful young man Andy was and how he grew into a gorgeous man!

  • I love this!!! Wish I had it on dvd. It's so rare to see something of him live and he was so young there only 17. Still very very handsome and that voice is so dreamy!! We lost a great talent, I will miss him till I die! I agree with the other people here, I don't care if people laugh at my musical taste. I like as sorts of music. Why can't we like OZZY , and The BEE GEES!

  • CORRECTION TO 1 OF MY COMMENTS- BROTHER OF 2 BEE GEES & COUSIN TO 1...

  • gr8

  • Thank you for posting this...I'd never seen it, despite being a fan since this time period...Hard to believe it'll be 23 years since we lost him on 3-10...will love him & his brothers always!

  • My goodness! The child had such depth in his words and voice at age 17. Definitely a Gibb, with 23 chromosones from his mother and 23 chromosones from his father in every cell. I think that's the only recipe that could produce such musically talented Brothers Gibb.

  • My goodness! The child had such depth in his words and voice at age 17. Definitely a Gibb, with 23 chromosones from his mother and 23 chromosones from his father in every cell. I think that's the only mix that could produce such musically talented Brothers Gibb.

  • I miss you Andy..I could cry watching this. Ah..sod it-- here come the tears......:'-(

  • See u in the heaven one day my dear darling Andy Gibb xxAnniexx

merry christmas to all who love this beauty man!

  • i like the song of 70's, specially his song word and music

  • I will love Andy Gibb till the day i die. I couldn't care less what people think of me and my musical tastes!!

  • @SweetSesatia I will always love him too!

  • andy gibbbs is the best omg :O

  • good simple days forever gone

  • @amr7037 That is the truth indeed. Ain't it sad that music has become more and more depraved and all the good singers are slowly dying off. Thank God for youtube, so we can remember those simple times and pretty melodies.

  • @amr7037 I wish those days were back, too. My friends think I'm crazy when I tell them that I listen to this music, but I literally sometimes wish my family and everyone I know lived in the 70's/80's. To put it short and sweet, those days rocked!!

The thing is I'm only 14, but I belong in the 70's/80's

  • @fiomily225 yes i guess were all on that boat, its nice simple soft golden era,now its all so fast common sense has been lost, wish there was a moment were we could go bdack to those days,ps listen to queens those were the days of our life check it out my friends x

  • rip Andy,i miss ur songs..

  • Una bella canción y buena voz con un toque de dulzura...felicidades por tu interpretación

  • @klimber1000 Andy and Berry had similar voices and when you look at pics of Barry in the '60's it's like you're looking at Andy.

  • I like his songs

  • LOVE the 70s clothes too! I wish fashions were still that way!- Andy, he was gorgeous! Wish men looked like him these days instead of hard-knock morons!

  • I miss you Andy Gibb you were so talented. Such a talented singer.

  • awesome

  • Nothing wrong with lovey-dovey!!!! Andy was such a romantic singer!

  • His songs are ok at best, I think he should made more dramatic music. Seems all his songs are to lovey dovey. Made this was the down fall to his successs, that he so desired.....

  • @MrMaxwell2010 I think the song, "Flowing Rivers" from Andy's first album is one example that is different from his other songs. It's not lovey dovey and Andy wrote it himself. There's a really good live version on YT, where he is wearning a black and white striped vest. Anyway, just in case you're interested....

  • Any chance you can post a download link for this video. Youtube audio quality is poor.

  • yet anyhow, I will always love u guy .

  • i love this song...i wish i could do what it says in the lyrics but unfortunately so many hindrances..heartbreaking!

  • I think he looked really sad, even though he was 17, fresh and cute and with a thousand girls and the world at his feet he still looked unhappy....I can tell by his eyes he wasn't happy here.

  • LOL! somebody threw a confetti on him he looks pissed!

  • There is no-one like Andy Gibb!Andy Gibb 4ever!!!!

  • EVERYONE is comparing that brat Justin Bieber to this guy. I mean Bieber is said to be haunted by Andy's ghost! what rubbish! Bieber could never express emotion in the way Andy did and as for his voice...it is weak compared to Andy's!!!! Andy was gorgeous as well he had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen on a man.

  • @SweetSesatia If Andy's ghost is around, I doubt that he would waste time on Bieber. Apparently Justin's response to this was "Who?" I reckon that Andy's ghost would be saying "Justin Who?"

  • @Aspie08 LOL! I agree with that! And i can quite see Bieber saying 'Who'! Justin Bieber seems rather vacuous to be honest although the hating on him is a little harsh. I think if Andy's ghost is around he would be near to his dear brothers- and mom.

  • rest in peace andy, we love u and your songs

  • Thanks::::..::::

  • Andy dowsn't seem like the type to become a hardcore alcoholic, and his bro's were pretty tame, (party wise), esp having that kind of fame in the booze/cocain time of the century. Was it the pressure of being the lil bro of that famous group?

  • smile from you is all i need !!!!!!

  • Andy was way ahead of his time - so talented and such a polished performer at just 17 years! He doesn't even flinch when they throw that confetti in his face. His voice is so dreamy....Amazing Andy.

  • where have you found this video? Amazing done

  • An old episode of Countdown, which was a pioneering pop show in Australia. The show has become something of a legend in Oz. The show gave Blondie, Motels, Billy Idol, John Cougar Mellancamp and a few others their initial successes, prior to the world hearing about 'em. Andy Gibb could pretty much walk onto the set and be shot, seeing as The Bee Gees have strong connections in Australia...

  • @nzoz1975 What do you mean SHOT ??????????

  • @MrSteveUtah I meant 'filmed' by TV cameras.... TV/Film people often use say 'shot' in reference to filming something.

  • I can't help but watch Andy over & over again. Now I came to realize Andy had been at the onset of his career a very sweet, gentle & versatile performer. His pieces mostly expressed his thoughts or feelings of a romantic love affair. Very, very sad & with all regrets that he did not live long to experience the real meaning of true love, of being loved by a genuine sweetheart. He was such a great loss! RIP Andy. We love you more than you can imagine.

  • Oh, this is something worth watching. Thanks for someone who was kind enough to share. I didn't get to know & see Andy when he was alive but it doesn't make any difference now because I can feel his spirit & his music everywhere. Him & his older bro Maurice are few of the gems in the music industry. Their music & legacy will live on forever. Love the Brothers Gibb.

  • Barry is the better singer compared to andy, robin and maurice.

  • Thanks for this great classic really worth having and keeping. We no longer get that kind of music these days

  • I dont remember much about the bee gees intil 1977, but I was 5 in 1975.

  • Thank you for posting this. Wow, even at 17 he had IT. He could melt the North Pole. What a super talent guy with great looks . Andy , you are loved and missed every day. RIP sweet Andy. Forever Love, MS ROBIN

  • He was only 17 here. Can you imagine? Barely old enough to drive.

  • This clip is so great, This is Andy before he had his oh so sexy hairy chest. He is so gorgeous even then I love you Andy forever Tammy

  • It's nice to see him perform live. My flash player doesn't always work but it's letting me see this one real well.

  • Singing live - what a beautiful voice.

  • i love it how molly keeps getting confetti thrown on him by aa girl while he's speaking!!

  • I LOVE this clip, Andy is so cute and sweet here and amazing how young he was! I grew up with Andy and miss him everyday. Hope the new Bee Gees dvd collection will include alot of Andy as well. Thanks for posting!

  • I didn't realize it hit the top 5 in Aus. It only made the B side of the 45 in the 70s here in the US. I loved it from the first listen. And he was so young when he wrote and recorded it. Too young to have experienced the feelings he wrote about.

  • Andy was so innocent looking here, I just love his performance. think i've seen this video before but watching it again is truly a treat this morning. thank you!

  • beautiful song..Andy my fav.

  • one if the best songs ever xxxandy was a genius and a wonderful performer wish he belived in himself,,,,i miss him love this i keep watching lolxxxim babsxxxx

  • very beautiful music of all times...

  • this is one of my favorite songs. i actually have a cover version of this lovely song. thanks andy.. genius song writing!!! great song!!!

  • QUEM E ESSE OTARIO

  • you can tell just how great his voice is here, sounds wonderful.

this video is sad though, he was untouched at this time by los angeles and the cocaine. if he could of saw what the drugs would do to his life, he never would of touched them..

he had it all, and the drugs destroyed it.

i pray he rests with our Lord Jesus

  • ah ok... somehow similar with my culture...

  • who throws the petals on andy's face?

    ezra from manila

  • The audience at Countdown always threw petals and wedding rice at the performers. I know one singer (not Andy) who used to frequently do appear on this show and he told the story of how he got a petal stuck in his throat and began chocking in mid-performance.

Countdown could be a cruel show for performers. The girls in the studio also had adventurous hands.

  • This is my favorite song, so romantic, handsome Andy, romantic voice, beautiful melody and lovely lyric, what more can I ask!!!

Andy is my all time favorite, so sad he has gone so early...

  • Gracias por compartir este video de Nuestro Querido Andy ¡¡¡¡

  • there will be music everywhere...

  • He was only five years older than me - he was born in 1958 and died in 1988. I'm glad I grew up knowing him. I love you, Andy. RIP. I miss him hence is why I am looking him up on youtube today. I hope I will meet him some day in heaven. I didn't know this song was sung live. I have it on one of my cd's. I still have his albums and some of his sheet music that I won on eBay a long time ago.

  • This has been my fav song since I was about 12! Andy was already about 19, but was younger here. A beautiul song by a beautiful man. He reminds me so much of his older brother Barry. Love all the Gibbs the best talent in the business!

  • Andy is one of my favorites, he was a great artist but got hooked on illegal substance, another wasted talent. I read he died penniless. However like his brothers, he gave the world wth good music. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • he's got the same wonderful voice just like his brothers, singing effortlessly.

  • miss you my angel andy xxx

always in my heart xlove this song x

  • timeless!!!

  • amazing in every way...

    we miss you Andy

  • excelent song, do you have the song named IN THE END? TXS JRG

  • This is so sweet, I have never seen this clip before, its awesome! Andy was so young here. He was angelic but at the same time a bit devilish. I wish I had this on dvd. I don't think there will ever be another like him.. Miss and love Andy..

  • If you do the math he was 17... young!

  • can't get enough of this song! thanks for the post!

  • inolvidable andy gib por siempre en mi corazon

  • He was good looking. No question.

....but Shaun Cassidy was prettier at that time!!!!

  • heavenly andy....love this performance such silky smooooooth voice ,,,so sweet n young andy ...love this many thnx for showing ,,,x

  • That is so true bab`s you are right, Andy was the best.

  • Happy Birthday Andy!

  • muy bueno me encantan los sigo desde esa epoca bee gees por siempre

  • Great,

    And he looks like Barry.

  • I remember buying the record (45). So sad though his life ended so quickly. R.I.P. Andy.

  • Great performance! It kinda makes me sad to watch it though, knowing how his life turned out. Look at the so-called talent we've got to contend with nowadays. They all sound the same and mimic one another. Singers back then like Andy, Karen Carpenter, Glen Campbell, David Cassidy, Olivia etc all had unique voices that you could recognise in an instant.

  • fantastic peformance ...great love t his song!!!!babsie thnx for the posting!!!!! love ya andyx

  • Can someone tell me the name of the song at the beginning ,when the man is talking

  • Do the hustle by the late great Van McCoy!

  • Thank you

  • thats pretty impressive, this is a great song but then again look at the songwriting talent in his family

  • Did Andy or his brothers write this song?

  • andy did write it

  • It makes me sad to watch this. He was young (looks like he had his teeth fixed before he hit the USA). 17! My kid is older than that now and I'm still obsessed.

  • There is so much growing up that I can relate to my growing up with the Bee Gees, and this really hit home. I remember sitting in my room imagining Andy singing this to me. Thanks for bringing that feeling back to me again

  • I know what you mean, mia...what a great guy...what a voice...what wonderful lyrics...ahhh...

    martha

  • Love it so much! thanks!

  • 0:45-0:46 OWNED LOL

  • What a beautiful song. Is he really 17 here? He seems older...more confident...

  • Lol look at his brothers, they were legends when he was growing up, he was inspired by his brothers and has the same talent if not more.

  • he is one of my favporite especially >>.Words and music

  • Wow, he sounds and looks just like his brother Barry - beautiful looking with a fantastic voice.

  • So beautiful!!!

  • ohh god what a tragedy about this man.

  • so sweet andy is when he was young....and his voice on this is so tender......angelic andy x

  • Andy Gibb wrote it only he knows the answer

  • such a talent that was wasted so suddenlly , he i s the voice of the 70s, and for years to come, and what a hunk

  • So young, so beautiful, so talented...I will always love him and be in love with him.

  • So warm and loving, Andy was all heart.

  • I just love this song and Andy Gibb

  • thanks . . . for posting this. Great song. been looking for this . . .

  • Can never get enough of this song. First song I heard by Andy. So cool. This one was written by Andy as well.

  • K Sar I might be an Idiot here but how old was Andy here was he 16 or 17 my Bro says he is 16 and I say he is 17 who's right

  • Depends on if this show was before or after 3/5/75...Andy's b-day. The show is Count Down Australia I think, but I don't know when he performed on it. Odds are in your favor though since more months after March and also, I think Andy was not on stage yet at 16 ;)

  • 7th of September 1975 so would have been 17

  • Thank You

  • I just love him so!!! Beautiful and awesome song!!!

  • What a waste of precious talent,to die so young, with such a promising career..

  • que bergona esta cancion

  • I love this song.

  • How wonderful to have these clips - he was so good

  • Absolutely BRILLIANT. Sung so BEAUTIFULLY by the gorgeous Andy. What a beautiful, talented person. Your voice and music never stopped when you left our world. The Angels are watching over you and we know you are watching over your fans, from far above. God Bless. Rest in Peace.

  • PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a nice song of andy

  • its so fantastic song.....

its make me shaver to the bone

  • Look from the time 2.00 to 2.54, at Andy's gorgeous face. What a dreamworld look. So stunningly beautiful and sung with so much emotion. What a tragic, tragic loss to our world. so young, so multi talented. What a fantastic guy.

  • omg! that's the hustle in the background!

    GREAT SONG! "DO THE HUSTLE!"

  • Andy's singing this song with so much emotion in his voice and his face. But is it just me or can anybody else see that there is so much sadness behind this song. It makes me wonder, Andy was 17 years old here, but mybe i'm looking too deep, but to me Andy's beautiful eyes are filled with sadness. It just goes to show THAT money can buy you everything but , not happiness love and LIFE!

  • Not heard this one for 25 yrs ....love it! think im stuck in the past but who cares?!

  • Doesn't matter... you're in good company.

  • I'm breathless. If only.....

  • This is one of my favorite performances by Andy. Beautiful song, handsome young face, that hair and those teeth. So innocent looking. I love that kid. Hugs, Andy.

    Alexa

  • i still love andy gibb, no matter what! too bad he died young.. thank you to youtube and thank you, nzoz1975, for posting this video and bringing back my memories of my biggest crush when i was in high school.

  • Andy was seventeen when he sang this song that he so beautifully wrote. What a beautiful melancholy voice for a 17 year old. So grown up. How man 17 year old can write and sing like Andy??? A very few, like Michael Jackson, David Cassidy and Donny Osmond. The best teenage singers around in Andy's time.

  • i always love the gibbs brother they are legend of history in music millions fans where never forget,we miss you guys.andy,barry.please come back! show us to broadway once again.

  • LMAO i agree w/ you but isn't scary if they'll be back and perform in broadway?

i love andy and the gibbs brothers...
