Thing about guys doin this is that they need help from that special shirt they wear, hell that shirt takes off like 200 pounds of that the combind weight and so really there only doin about 800 to 900 pounds, and another thing is that if they lost that fat ass belly and accually have the bar touch their chest like it's sopose to they wouldnt be able to get no where near that amount of weight.
@SpikeMiva1985 they actully do less - the bench press world record for raw's only 715 while suited is like 1050 or so? not far from 400 pound diffrence
Think all of this top end stuff needs a standard benchmark across ALL federations/organisations...like in olympic lifting. Then a 300lb guy with assists is judged against his peers...I agree by the way about some form of chain safety system...how many spotters there and how little use were they?
Back in the day, before squat suits or even squat racks, bumper plates and rotating weights, steroids and all that shit strength was a feat that was achieved through hard work, dedication, patience and above all it was functional, 100% efficient strength. Squats were done all the way down like the real life motion and benching was all about how much someone could bench without a squad of spotters, bench shirts and bombing out. Benching and all lifts should be done with little to no assistance.
@krakistophales yar to bad things changed and today powerlifters always sick that one extra pound... honestly i used to have 0 respect for suit users but i came to learn its the way for more weight, i still prefer raw but i guess you cant be not impressed by suits bench and squat... but i get your point really today's lifting have somthing bit disguesting bout them
I understand people want to lift more, that's the reason we're all in powerlifting to begin with. But it seems the sport's lost its way...instead of relying on your own strength and setting fantastic records with the power of the limitless human body, people perverted supplemental things originally designed to help with injury rehab into supersuits that artificially increase strength. I can't find myself respecting that.
@krakistophales well what can you do if u want to be one of thouse topped guys - without equipment and supplements its impossible even if u work hard and have good genetics it doesnt work without the needle.... i think most of the natrual compettitons are one big bullshit - and most compettetors use roids, they just find ways to hide it like ronniecoleman did
I'm not trying to take away from his achievements, but I'm just saying that it seems all these squat suits, bench shirts, easy lift racks for squats, quarter squatting 1200 lbs and all that seems to take away from what the original concept of powerlifting is all about. It's gotten to the point where guys that can lift 500 lbs raw in their garage for any lift don't mean shit because these guys are "squatting" 1200 lbs with triple ply suits 6 inches down.

Benching 1090 in all those shirts and shit with 8 or so spotters isn't what benching is intended to be, IMO. You shouldn't bench more than what you can bench within a power rack with safety rods in place by yourself. Anything more than that is just the bench shirt and ammonia and all that other shit.
why even attempt to do that?? humans weren't meant to press that much weight. if this guy keep pushing the envelope he's going to end up dead underneath a bar or severely crippled.
he is taking the body to the extreme. Humans CAN potentially do a lot more of what we do. But is not efficient to do it in terms of survival. Humans can take the time to do this because we dont have to fight for our lifes anymore like animals.
he just dropped it was all.. he said it hurt... theres a video that was on here about him lifting... and if you check it out... you can see me recording it down in front
Thank god that 10 year old boy came over and got it off his cheat or he might have gotten hurt.

If by "world record bench press" you actually mean "1090lbs dropped on someones chest" then i say kudos!!!!

Oh crap!
Why dont they set up a catch like how they use chains for squats? that is just below the lowest part of the rep (and above the neck!)
