If there a book or something you have referred to to teach her these tricks? I would love to work on tricks with my future border collie, and i want to be prepared and learn from the best!
Katherine, we've been watching you and Dazzle for a few years now and we just LOVE these videos! Such creative trickstering you do! You inspire us to higher training standards every time we watch! Keep up the good work!

Heya, next year sometime i'm considering having a BC i already own corgis and a GSD and their favourite treats are sausage.... do BC's have a favourite treat...?
With ant dog (of just about any breed), no breed really likes a certain thing. It all depends on the dog. And good luck with your BC, they're a lot of fun!
I tried the limping thing but my dog never seemed to pick it up. How did you teach Dazzle this trick. I am dying to know. Also, I can't figure out how you did the hand stand.
Very good Job with Dazzle's tricks!! I am impressed, keep up the good work..you inspire people to have more fun with their dogs. (Take a quick look at my video..Caleb's tricks)
Dazzle is such a beautiful dog! My dog Bandit is learning many of the same tricks. I loved the bubbles one and taught him that by shaping in about 4 minutes. Teaching tricks is such an awesome way to spend time with your dogs! It is amazing how once they know how to learn, the possibilities are unlimited. Love your channel! Pam, Isabelle, & Bandit
I noticed Dazzle does the back legs up in this video. How did you teach it? Did you use the wall method? Jesse learned from Heather's own method and I was wondering if you created your own method?
I taught Dazzle to put her paws up on a wall as a separate trick then later decided to teach her the handstand. I did not do "the wall" method for the handstand, but it might have helped anyway because she did already know it....but no, I did not specifically use that method. I shaped the handstand and also used a foot target. I don't know if that is anyone else's method - I have not heard of anyone else doing that.
What exactly do you mean by foot targeting and shaping? What steps did you personally use? I am using my sister's method instead on the wall method because most people have difficulty fading their hand or the wall.
She's nothing short of amazing! I love seeing what she's been up to. Did you see the National Geographic March 2008 article about animal intelligence? The article features two BC's, no surprise! Go to ngm . nationalgeographic . com and search for border collie.
Aww, she is drooling at those treats! She is absolutely amazing, and so are you! What a magnificent trainer, and her tricks are fabulous and so complicated! AWESOME!!!
It amazes me every time I watch you and Dazzle! She is an amazing dog and you are such a great trainer!!! I LOVE the trick she does with her lifting her leg to pee...especially since she is a girl!!! LMAO! So cute!!!
Kat, she is just adorable! Amazing, too. Excellent job with her!! The saliva was really going there, in one of the later "leave it" clips...hehehe. What a good girl!
That was totally amazing. Really cute dog. I have a dog and i practise agility and allegiance with her. She's not that good but we do it just for fun. And to learn dogs new trics is very funny =D just love to see that dogs can learn and not be just a dog who's barking outside and don't listen. :)
Lol kkz i think were gonna leave the handstanding with aki because she's going to be unspeakably HUGE and probably heavier then my dad. how much does dazzle weigh??? Oh yeah since you online at the moment, how did you teach dazzle to pick things up walk bakwards down the stairs and the million other tricks you can do, the best trick aki can do at the moment would be to bow or wave :S oh yeah also how did u get dazzle 2 hide, cross her legs and put her toys in the basket XD +-+akira n sharny+-+-
Dazzle is about 30 pounds, she is pretty small for a Border Collie. Daz learned most of her tricks by Shaping - so I just wait for her to do something on her own and then reward her for it. Then I "shape" that into a behavior I want. I plan to put a video up in a bit showing how that all works because I can't explain it very well in just a few words! It is much easier to just show people instead of trying to type it out!
Okeez that would be awesome akira's about 25pound at the moment she,ll obviously be way more bigger in later life she's in france at the moment so i dont know if she's grown she's coming back today ( I CANT WAIT!) anyways c ya enjoy your weekend XD
Excellent :) haha how did i know that dazzle would be handstanding in this vid! do you think akira's body size could do a handstand? because she's so flippin huge! anywayzzz BRILL VID excellent tricks and LOL at all the treats on the floor ahahaha
lol! Thanks! Dazzle's handstands still have a ways to go, but she is improving every day. :)
It might be challenging with Akira, but if you do plenty of work where she puts her back feet up onto a wall or a chair so she can work on building the muscle in her shoulders and core she might just get it! Just be very very patient with that trick because it will probably be pretty tiring for her physically at first. :)
