  • brilliant

  • This vid has been blocked in Germany for two years now like every other single album song of Kris. That's a shame...

  • The truth hurts I guess, this song makes me die a little each time I hear it and I can't stop playing it. Greatest Song Writer of all time. Not to mention he's unafraid of the big corporate money that wants all the killing and all the war. If Fox wants fair and balanced they should have played this. Kris, please keep showing this side of America to the world. God Bless the USA.

  • I really like this song. I'm trying to find a video of it tho that's not putting Pres. Bush down or O Reilly. Are there any other videos out there of this song? I totally agree with stopping the war and that it shouldn't have ever been started but know Bush wasn't entirely to blame and also know O Reilly has some good thoughts too.

  • @grac27 This is the official video to the song. I have found only two official vids he ever made to his songs except for the promotional vids - this one and Love is the way...

  • I love his music but.. I really hate libs.

  • This is the sort of the thing that needs to be played on the "NEWS". I guess the truth doesn't sell and Fox is making a mint! At least Kris isn't afraid to say it like it is. Keep telling the story.

  • kinell fire...... FANTASTIC----- end of chat....

  • wow. My favorite songwriter of all time.

  • 10 people doesn´t want the wars to end. 10 people want more dead bodies..

  • very powerful . This is raw Kris just awsome

  • This is douchetastic. Crappy singing and unrelated subjects? you suck

  • @apoatley dont think you know music

  • The one thing wrong with this song is that it makes contemporary music suck ass by comparison. I want to party with you Kris!

  • Whatba aaaaannnnamazing song but don't take revenge or it will make her situation worse and sedn it round in cycles ok hmm

  • every time i try to sing along i cant to much emotion

  • Good singer and a good actor. This is such a powerful song, it shows both sides. We all pray to one god. Would he be happy at our man as destroyed everything he as created.

  • WOW this was...well depressing but, true!

  • Daily-News at:

    Usa-Today-News[.]blogspot[.]com

  • I don`t believe in god, but i believe in kris ;)

  • I truely like this. Men of god that served this great nation with your blood and tears open your eyes for your country and your family. God is wating on you!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this and thank you Kris for always being true to yourself and telling us the ugly truth about what goes on in the world. God bless you Kris. I have so much respect for you. Keep writing your songs. I've never heard one of your songs that I didn't like. I love them all. I am truly in awe of you.

  • Kristofferson will live in my heart forever. He is a man with a lot of compassion for people. He is all about freedom, justice and mercy. Plus one brilliant songwriter!

  • a very profound and powerful song from a man who never disappoints his audience....a true genius with words...keep 'em coming, kris....we love you

  • First time I hear this song, and it is so profound. Once again, Kris true to himself and his values, never wavering. I admire this man so much.

  • kris hasnt let holywood or the music industry chew him up and spit him out, he is still himself, very touching song. thank u kris

  • This is an awesome song and I thought I'd add it to my favorites just for the hell of it.

  • thank kris for this great song and all the others

  • My favorite song in the world! Absolutely beautiful

  • Have a look on you tube.......type in "Ring of Power" part 1-30. It's a real eye opener.

  • who was the lady that got chained and thrown into the water to drown ..... first time i heard this song

  • laci petterson

  • wow, powerful song that's about all i can say

  • This song is just great and wise with its lyrics and its message "No more war and no more killing in the name of god (of any god, I think) ... or it's all over..."

  • He Knows this first hand Ya all need to know he was a helo pilot in my war. He knows what he is singing about He flew Med a vac in the tet offensive Un like pres AWOL an/ deferment cheney he lived it like i did. Bring them home NOW I am a disabled VET USN Retired Naval Aviation

  • Mr Kristofferson was in the 8th Infantry in Germany during the early sixties. He did fly helecopters and was trained as an Army Ranger. He got out of the Army in '65 and continued his music career.

He did not serve in Vietnam but he did serve with honor which is what your point is anyway. I am positive had he served with us in Vietnam (Marine Infantry here) he would have done his duty. Unlike the shrub and DICK.

Regardless, Mr Kristofferson is a giant among us.

  • He volunteered for Vietnam, but fortunately (!!!) they didn't let him go, because they wanted him to teach English literature at West Point ... For sure he would have done his duty and might never have returned... just inconceivable... I not even dare to think about it...

  • Springsteen failed his physical for vietnam. Where would music be without these 2 giants

  • Thank you jetphixer. Canada loves you.

  • i'm on the right but this true we should help war is not right

  • the zillions of dollars

    A TRUE American Master Craftsman

  • Sad.

  • So simple, beautiful and true.

  • yep....unlike todays singers his era -cash,nelson,jennings,hendrix,joplin-of singers were observant and aware of the world around them.Todays singers [if you can call them singers]seem willfully ignorant and don't show awareness of the world around them.

  • AMEN!!

  • I can really relate with Kris.

  • Yes, Kris, it was a tradgedy when Lacy and Connor were murdered, but it did take our minds off what our troops were going through. We were able to forget about them ..............for a while. Thank you for pointing this out in your own special way.

  • Like it or not, what he's saying in the song is the truth. The ppictures just help tell the story obviously

  • well, I was pleased to hear the positive words in "fast food nation" Thought it was cool enough, that you took time to write and meet your "fans". Confusing enough as it was.

  • We will take your example now, Kris, and start to speak out, all of us together, to keep offering the same, simple truth: Love is the answer! ...until we get it right.

  • Just keep on telling it like it is, Kris, because somebody's got to.

  • It's an amazing vid. Wow.

  • souns like jerks off too much1 (jotm1) was one of bush's coke buddies during vietnam, and just thinks he was in the war

  • jotm1, you are bullshit in general. Its degenerative, ignorant, fuckups like you that are ruining our world and country all in one. Its people like you that are making everyone fight, and is ruining the peace in this world. Just leave. Change yourself and see how much better your world will become. You can change, just try.

  • AMEN! finally someone said it the right way!!!!

  • @Drumma425 Hey A-hole, It's now 3 years later. How's that hope/change working for you? And hows that peace/love/dove imposter Barry Soetoro sittin with you now that he has put troops in 2 MORE countries? (Libya, Uganda.} How much better has Barry made the world?

  • @Drumma425 Hey General Bullshit, It's now 3 years later. How's that hope/change working for you? And hows that peace/love/dove candidate Barry Soetoro sittin with you now that he has put troops in 2 MORE countries? (Libya, Uganda.} How much better has Barry made the world? Is America's 2nd coming of Ghandi "ruining the peace" in this world?

  • amen RAE20351MB

  • o so u think little wolfs someones bitch.....well ur ours!....we wuldnt piss on u cz u sound thirsty...ur not fit to wipe kk's ass!

  • hey rae20351mb i saw u on some other video um just wanted tocomment on the video this song is two or three years old and it still holds up today for what its saying if not more thanks for yourservice rae just wondering whats your thought on where this country is going.kriskristophersons music is great

  • global2012,

I think, I hope, that we have come full circle.

I was in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, when so many dreams died so suddenly and abruptly. I think that perhaps now we may finally have a chance to reach the end of that long, hard road, and to regain the destiny that we came so close to grasping all those years ago.

Vietnam was what we had instead of a happy childhood -- but we can't end our lives with the cynical bitterness of men like jotm1. We still have time to change.

  • "Vietnam was what we had instead of a happy childhood."

I thought you were fying sorties in 1965? If so, your childhood would have happened PRIOR to 11.22.63. Your timeline doesn't fit.

What a bullshit artist you are.

  • jotm1, "Your timeline doesn't fit."

I left college after my first semester and enlisted as soon as I turned 17. The Air Force tagged me for language aptitude and sent me to Yale University for an 8-month intensive course in Mandarin Chinese; I flew my first combat sortie out of Danang shortly before my 19th birthday -- so yeah, Vietnam was very much a part of my childhood. At the age when other kids were wondering who to take to the Senior Prom, I was being mortared by some VC in Eye Corps.

  • jotm1,

The things you're saying, man, you're not making me angry. I just feel embarrassed for you, and more than a little sad, that you have to say such spiteful things to your own brothers in arms. None of us had a real fun time in Vietnam, but that was long ago and 10,000 miles away from here. The mistakes we made, well, we won't even get them back or have a chance to undo them. All we can do now is to try to do some good with the time that we have left. Maybe make some peace.

  • You're the guy slammmed his brothers in arms. The entire USAF SP's were insulted by your snide stick up the ass in the guardshack comment among others.

You just don't like it when you crack wise and are given a taste of your own medicine.

You want to make peace? Well, knock yourself out. You should start by keeping your nasty comments to yourself.

  • jotm1,

Since you persist in maintaining such a high profile, I can only honestly say that we who flew the missions over Indian Country and carried the war to the North regarded AP's as somewhat analogous to tits on a bull -- everyone could see them, but no one was really sure what they did.

  • jotm1,

You really are a piece of work -- the kind of guy who, when you come into a room, makes it feel like somebody just left.

Face it -- you were a school-crossing guard in the world's largest paramilitary organization.

  • jotm1 (Jerks-Off-Too-Much1) You're still dumber than dogshit.

  • Little wolf

WHO's lil bitch are you? RAE20351MB?

Have a lil more firewater, lapdog.

  • to jotm1 ,maybe i should get drunk and high like you; then you might make a lil sense. why dont you go watch saving private ryan, then youl see wat combat is really like, ur just a paper soldier marching in parades - thats probably the most youve ever done for your country.

  • You mean get drunk and high like your hero, KK

    I'm a tea-toatler.

Maybe you can further emulate your hero and punch your spouse in the face to express your anger.

  • Great song, great lyrics, lots of trues. Thx Kris

  • if we had tweezers, we might be able to find jotm1's balls - maybe even a brain.

  • u gots un gul, swissy

  • roughly translated it means forget the tweezers and look in your mouth

  • If jotm 1 ever pulls his head out of his ass it'll be a sound heard round the world! You bore us all, even without listing your brother's laurels. I think you're lying about serving anyway. I know one thing, you're all cheap talk, and NEVER SAW COMBAT! You would have been fragged it you did.

  • you wouldn't know a banana clip from a banana split. A tripod from a tricycle. A C-ration from a C-cap.

You, little man of little wit, come off as a pussy and an asshole all rolled into one.

  • C'mon "big man" of such "big wit" answer the question - EVER SEE COMBAT? We can all see through you and know you didn't. You're a weak impotent fool with a big mouth, little intellect, no compassion and still dumber than dogshit. Period.

  • Been there, done that, left part of myself there.

    Now, go fuck yourself, asshole.

  • a sound you are obviosly very familiar with. have another swig of firewater and puff on this piecepipe.

  • Littlewolf sez "My brother ... in Vietnam" ... blah, blah, blah.

What was YOUR military service? Does this mean YOU didn't do Jack Squat worth of military service?

  • So, you never served. I did, but not in combat; he went to Viet Nam, not me, and obviously not you either. It's obvious how little you know, or want to know. Your comments make it clear that you are dumber than dogshit.

  • Last time I looked my DD Form 214 said I am an Honorably discharged Military ploiceman, USAF 09 May 1972. I wont bore you with a list of my brother's laurels.

Now, pick up your piece of dogshit and smoke it asswipe while you utilize your room temp IQ to put the pieces of that puzzle together and figure out your lifelong loser streak wont be threatened here tonight.

  • john1,

Hey, I DID serve in Vietnam, from 12/65 through 3/68, and I logged 173 combat sorties with Rolling Thunder, participated in the first US air strikes on the POL dumps at Hanoi and Haiphong, Operation Bolo, Silver Dawn, Rivet Top, and was at Danang for Tet in 1968.

    We live in a world

    whose system reveres power.

    It is the ultimate virtue.

    The takers of life

    are the obedient servants

    of the most powerful.

  • My brother was one of those who fought in our name in Viet Nam. Did you? Are you commenting from Iraq or Afghanistan? Kris was in the military and didn't go AWOL like Bush, and didn't get 5 false deferments like Cheney, who had Halliburton trade with Lybia during our embargo in order to not "lose its competitive advantage" AS CHENEY SAID! WAKE UP! This country was founded by LIBERALS!! Fools just go along to get along.

  • I love Kristofferson, but let's be honest, he is a liberal. I do not say that in an insulting way, but I think he can sing what he sings because people have fought in our name.

  • kris is moving......emotionally moving

  • The war in Iraq was totally wrong..Period

  • War is bad

    everybody would agree

    but it is sometimes necessary

  • "God please FOREGIVE the U-S-A!

  • That video is incredible! The song is as true now as it would have been during Korea, Vietnam, the 1st gulf war or any others!

  • and all 3+1 made by USA

  • This song should be our National Anthem. Sad, but so, so true.

  • Not in my name!

I will not support democrats and republicans who work for a war creating, all consuming, insatiable corporate system.

    Back to reason and sanity!

    votenaderdotorg

  • Guess what: If you vote Nader it will be in your name. Use your head.

  • I'm playing this song during adult education class at church tomorrow along with "Pilgrim's Progress". I think speaking about Laci Peterson's death and putting it in the context of our collective sins and suffering is so powerful. Only someone as wise and poetic as Kris Kristofferson could do it.

  • medesdaddy, i agree you one hundred percent, i've always loved KRIS & HIS MUSIC!

  • This is amazing!! Very touching.

  • what a wonderful man ,

  • Beautiful!

  • I just posted it on TheCDR . us JOIN US!

  • What a fantastic song. The other one worth listening to is "Some humans ain't human" by John Prine

  • New for me! Great!

  • Excellent...this blew me away and I have listened to his music since the late 60's.

  • I love Kris, I' ve been a fan of his for 35 years (I'm 51). He is a wise poet who has always spoken the truth using the lyrics of his music. I swear to God, God must be crying too. We have to stop this war now. I hope the american people unite and make our govt stop the killing.

    peace

I also like They Killed Him and Love Is the Way. More truth from Kris, more wisdom for us if we use it.

  • What does the verse about the pregnant woman being drowned reference? Is this a metaphor? Or does it reference an actual murder?

  • my guess is Laci Peterson

  • Abeer Qassim Hamza.

  • It's not only god but Mary Too ,who cries at each times she appears & speaks to poor hearted human one ;the most often our childs in poor situation or country.

  • Please listen~!! God, this (war) occupation is one the saddest things to have happened to this country since Viet- Nam. Shut it down NOW.

  • Hell is not a hot place, it is a condition of utter meaninglessness in living life.

Bush took us there with his war.

  • Sometimes war is neccessary BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR IRAQ...Iraq is a war of choice by a criminal President and Vice President and enabled by a criminal Republican Party and a spineless Democratic Party...A war based on lies and deception cannot be won .......

  • Heard Kris being interviewed on the Johnie Walker show last Sunday (in Britain) and heard this.I'm not familiar with his music, but thought this was thoughtful and humane.

  • Some fans hail Kris and curse Bush. I hate the war in Iraq, but Kris did another song called, "Sandinista", endorsing that political- communist party in Nicaragua. I don't understand.

  • The Sandinistas brought down a political dynasty much like that of the Bushes or Kennedys, and then they succeeded in defeating a US-backed attempt to overthrow them and install a US-approved government. The party was also democratically elected twice. Wiki Sandinista National Liberation Front and Contras. Also, a protip for the future: communist does not automatically mean bad.
