43's running left to right are sounding lush with there turbos at full pressure
Right to left, no turbo sound that I could hear.
The old Paxman Valenta engine sounded the best, combination of a throbbing engine sound and turbo whistle was awesome to hear, it just sounded "POWER" !!!!
The great loco's of all time are or have slowly being taken away from us Deltics,Class 47, etc etc The 125 are the last of the dying breed of Great British loco's which are looking to be taken from us so we have nothing to watch only crappy Voyagers and Turbostars..
Marvellous. Sadly missed. I worked in Virgin Cross Country Control at this time, and although the HSTs were a bit troublesome at times, it was great to work with them both behind the scenes and on board. Definitely the best years of my career so far.
I was probably on one of those HST's heading Northbound while on holiday to Birmingham around about this time. Such a brilliant place to catch valenta's at full pelt! Amazing vid m8, priceless doesn't begin to describe this vid!
Nah mate, I saw them a couple of weeks ago. They have an awesome rumble that gets to the bottom of your spine, and even the brand new NXEC MTU's are whistling/screaming like they were starting to bed in.
wish i had moved house 2 near the XCountry line sooner. I live about 2 minutes from it and what do i get? Virgin bloody Voyagers =( check out my farewell virgin vid in prep 4 the return of the hst from cross country trains
I guess this track is on a hill ?

@tnewton1988 Don't forget all the electric multiple units we have to put up with too - glorified trams.

I wonder what MTU's will sound like on the Lickey now?
TheMysticEgg 3 years ago 2
The same as the clip that 43180 and 43084 are in. But I think that they are Valentas that are not accelerating.

Wow, it just shows how much I missed out on...
Some lovely noise there, I just wish I'd gotten in this stuff sooner.
And yes, Lickey is 1 in 37.5 for quite some way. I believe it's nearer 4 miles than 2, but I've not got an official source for that.
Good video there wellowvids, got any other Valenta videos?
Yurules 4 years ago
