  • I can't hear the gong in the end. It adds the final icing to the cake. But great job on surviving a 30 minute performance! I can't even attempt to do that much on its piano version.

  • A little too slow for my taste but great nevertheless.

  • WOW they sound so good. I play the flute and wanted to audition. How hard is it for the flutes?

  • Just listened to this performance again. I agree with the comments below that the instrumentalists are superior--on par with Julliard, Eastman, Michigan, etc. On second listening, however, the conductors interpretation is weak. He makes little use of dynamics besides loud and louder. Imagine what this group could do with someone like Frank Wickes or the young conducter who did such an outstanding job on one of the unlabelled recordings on AOL video.

  • No, Alain Cazes is an absolutely brilliant conductor. I'll post the 2nd part of this video when I get a chance, where it was beautiful and quiet.

  • Would enjoy hearing that. It did puzzle me that such a seemingly mediocre conductor could assemble such a talented pool of musicians. It would be pleasing to know that I was mistaken.

  • Superior to Eastman, at least since Hunsberger retired.

  • you'd be hard pressed to find many universities in north america with a wind ensemble that has a low brass section this good.

  • wait till we play the planets!

  • This was a great performance. Needless to say it sounded better in person.
