I was listening to various recordings of this piece by Chopin, and Halo 3's ad kept being posted as how someone found the piece. How do they know the name and composer of the piano piece? How is the music supposed to be relevant to the still photos of toys? It makes no connection to me.

@thumlyly I believe that on all these videos there are plenty of comments of people asking what the music is, and plenty of people answering. So the correlation between this video and that piece has been established by the sheer amount of exposure the video received. There may be no inherent connection between the music and the still photos. That said, I find it to be a very fitting score for the video. One of the best commercials I've seen, but then again, I am an irredeemable fan.

@20110102 Well for one the brutes look kind of like big Jackals and some of the armor isn't correct. Second There is one War Chieftain holding the Fist of Rukt but the Chieftain of the Jiralhanae is the only one allowed to use it. So it would be nice if they just made it look like a Gravity Hammer. And this last one isn't a flaw but it would be cool to see some Elites in there helping the humans. That's all but I still think it's a great trailer.

Well since its not cannon, there is the possibility that the Chieftain is THE chieftain with the fist of rukt.

Jackals look all correct to me, some liberties with the armor seams to have been taken but its still "in style". The diorama was made pre-schism (harvest? reach?) not made to reflect halo 3. The brutes and jackals sizes vary from H1 to H3. Ex grunts going from 5ft to 3ft something

But yeah your points are valid.

Canonically its really out of place, closer to Halo:Wars than H3

I've watched this at least ten times and it still takes my breath away. What an incredible ad. The models are beautifully done, but the sense of loss, desperation, and ultimately resignation are just so crushing. And then the plasma grenade lights up. My only criticism is I don't think you need the MC to lift his head at the end, but I'm sure they put it in there because regular folks wouldn't get just the grenade alone. Overall, beautiful work.
