  • WOW!!!!! I loved the songs in the background. Sounds so logical.

  • Ill..u..min...ati..

  • You got this from Djehuty from Dherbs. It's all good, just source your material! It's lifted largely word for word.

  • as a young boy, i did not believe the story of the way Sam was reported to have died. Now your report finally makes sense. Thank you very much.

  • Fabulous investigative research. Thank you for your and commitment to bring me the truth.

  • I like this video.... Thanks for the effort, the research, and the upload !

  • Although much of what you propose in this segment is not "impossible" or "unlikely" to believe, in order to stay absolutely accurate...the reason Mr. Cooks song was not in the Malcocm X movie was because Allen Klein's company (who own and administrate - control all the rights to his songs and masters) charged a fee for the use of the song and master that was more than the film's producers were willing to pay !

  • @MrAristei Agree! I don't think it was a conspiracy to keep this song from the soundtrack, after all, ABCKO did allow its usage in the actual film. ABCKO is known for charging some of the most stiff prices "in the game" so-to-speak for their catalogue; if Spike/his producers could pay the piper, then this song would've been on the soundtrack. To expect Klein to just GIVE the song away because he abstractly should've known Sam would want it attached to MX just won't fly in business. Money talks!

  • @indure08 sorry *ABKCO*

  • Please be absolutely clear that the production was not nor never "denied" use of the song or master....! Having participated in the mediation of many conflicts between the stones and mr klein regarding licensing rights and what is to be charged for the use of these rights....I know that if Spike Lee had paid the price Mr. Klein would charge anyone for such an important song and master, it would have been in the film......You must keep your facts accurate !

  • speechless I heard about Sam Cooke through my parents when I was growing up, but did not know that he was an established business man, who managed his own music career and who also cared about civil rights. I liked him before, but I am proud of him now and will look up more of his work. Thanks for this insightful video

  • @12:27 I agree 100% with that statement. I have been a fan of that song 'A Change is Gonna Come' I always thought that and I now really believe that story from Etta James. Sam was set-up man nobody could tell me anything differently. Being that Sam didn't have any road dogs made it better access to him and his life. Snoop w/ tha Dogg Pound, Eazy-E w/ NWA crew, Wu-Tang Clan, Nelly w/ his crew, Ja Rule/w his crew, DMX w/ Ruff Ryders, Biggie w/ Junior Mafia. I wish Sam had a crew to roll with him.

  • @Shandra9000mail I agree to some exten with your postt. One of the things Sam was known (and loved) for was always maintaining a level of approachability, if you will, with his fans, particularly his black base. He could've long since stopped staying at the inner city hotels, even performing at the inner city clubs, but he kept this up because, I think, he loved his people and wanted to maintain that connection. As much for their sake as for his own. Early 19560s FAME was...

  • @indure08 scary. Especially to a pioneering artist like Sam paving his own course. To bring along the familiar was a constant source of comfort. Sam didn't have a sophisticated coterie of bodyguards like you'd expect though. Even though the NOI constantly offered their protectoral services, Sam refused. He wanted his people to be able to touch him, much like Malcolm X said in his last days. Sadly, they both were killed, I believe so easily, in part due to their lack of protection.

  • Wow...
