  • AMAZING

  • also this is a really amazing rendition. GOOD JOB!! im really into theatre and i have een dreaming about this musical for years and i so want to perform it!!! If only our school had enough guys who could sing or a decent set or an ensemble who could act half as well as this one! AMAZING!

  • I think Jim did it. he killed mary and this is him getting out of it. i think he's putting his own words in Leo's mouth to make it sound more credible and believable. jim is quite clever beacuse if he did it being the acomplice means he can tell the whole truth about injuries and scenes without fear of revealing anything, and the story getting everyone riled up against Leo means he;s more likely to get off lightly scathed for the ordeal.

  • watch the dow? xD

    Nice voice.

  • THATS WAT SHE SAID xD

  • That was incredible. Everyone was fired up and believable. And the Jim led the group in a real arc from patient to out of control. Great job to the performers.

  • A lot of people are commenting on the lack of accent. But I don't really care, because to me it's not just about the accent it's about the personality. I know accent really emphasizes the character, but there are a lot of people that just can't do accents that well. It's better to have no accent than a TERRIBLE accent, right? I think this is an amazing performance. He gets so into it and it's just fun to watch. The singing is amazing.

  • my teacher got this off youtube just to show us in class! you're awesome

  • Wow! Love that man!

  • For a High School this rocked. I hope I can get that much energy and passion into my performers when I'm a director someday!! Great job guys!

And dude, that guys voice is POWAFUL!!! ;)

  • This is probably the most powerful I've seen it done since we did it at University of Evansville!

  • this is really great!! I liten to it OVER AND OVER!

but I think Mr. Frank's lawyer was a bit quick on his objection............Conley hadn't said that it was a guy yet. but a mistake that miniscule in a production this big still classifies this show as PHENOMENAL!!

  • It's a great touch, actually, having Conley sing the "High" at the end. A lot of people don't see the nature of his character.

I think the songs hint very strongly that he was the killer.

  • Amazing.

I'm doing parade this year and I think thats a GREAT interpretation of Conley!

All of these videos of your show are sooo good. You all must have put so much work into the production.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Sent shivers down my spine :)

  • really good!

  • i like this man...im playing Jim Conley in this upcoming musical in a couple weeks...this gave me some good advice. I didn't know this was a high school production... im in college now but not much of a singer but can hold a note. but good job. I wanted to see rumbling and rolling also.

  • oh god i personally love this version of "That's What He Said" cuz i remember when my skool did parade for our musical we were trying to get our conley to be 'slick' the entire play but still kind of nervous at the beginning of the song and then progressively work off the increasing energy of the crowd. i also loved that this version had Jim sing the 'High!' at the end cuz i was Frankie in our play and i remember listening to it on the cd and i just was like "Ha! that's not gonna happen with me"

  • That was just my thinking though. Definitely a good comment you made, jdunphy89. I was thinking about this today, so funny I decided to watch this tonight haha.

  • Hey man. No I totally see what you're saying. And I shouldn't have said that the acting was bad. Its simply a different interpretation.I guess I'm just a little biased cause I was in this show last February on Long Island as Dorsey and the guy who played Jim Conley seemed more like the Bonds Jr. type. And I guess "slick" was the wrong word for me to use...maybe "smart alec" is what I meant? haha

  • But anyway, your voice is sick dude and if this is before college I can't imagine what it will be like after college so good look in the future. Maybe we'll be hearing about you on broadway sometime soon.

  • no, bro, no worries! please say bad acting! i'm learning, man, know what i mean, just trying to figure out what works and what doesn't! i really appreciated your honesty, seriously! no censorship haha

that's so cool that you played dorsey. how did it go for you?

  • Playing Dorsey was awesome. Definitely one of my favorite roles that I have played so far. Really intense part. Unfortunately I don't have any clips from that production on youtube but if you wanna check out something I've done you can search Bring Him Home

  • Wow I pressed "post comment" before I even finished the comment haha...but anyway...search "Bring Him Home John Dunphy" I just finished playing Jean Valjean in a production of Les Mis on Long Island, New York.

  • His voice is great. But I dont know. The acting wasn't very good. I feel like Jim Conley is supposed to be a very sly, slick guy who wouldnt be intimidated or nervous by anything. On the original cast recording, Rufus Bonds Jr. actually sounds like he thinks the whole thing is a joke. Like he's enjoying the whole thing. Like he's thinking, "I'm lying, its gonna ruin this guys life and I think its funny." The guy in this video comes off to me as nervous and even hesitant. Just my opinion though.

  • I had to respond to this one, cuz it's actually something I was thinking when I did. I made the choice to play it a little more "walking a tight rope" because of the fact Jim was a suspect too. This whole song is his one chance to pin it all on Leo, and if he goes in their acting all slick, they're gonna know he's done something wrong. It's like Iago in OTHELLO; he's the only one who knows he's doing something villainous, every one else thinks he's innocent, which makes his betrayal worse.

  • WOW! that's all i have to say!

  • That was un-frickin'-believable.

  • i love NIK WALKER ! =]

  • Icredible, Im crying

  • You have to put up the whole trial. I really want to see the whole sequence.

  • wow that was so good. i just got chills. :]

  • It doesn't bother me at all that this is sung without the southern accent; this artist knows what the song is about and an accent is merely an extra. The story is strong enough to impress in any language or accent. Great job!

  • Holy hell, that was intense. This is my favorite song form the show and I'd say that's pretty damn good.

  • Wow... This is beyond incredible...

  • CMON he would be absolutely PERFECT if he had the southern accent. the director of this show should have told him that, should have STRESSED that. i mean its PARADE THE MUSICAL

  • WOW

    NIK WALKER YOUR FANTASTIC.

you are a STORM of talent.

    ...chyeah.

  • i think he is very talented. jim connelly was perceived as "ignorant" being the racist attitudes of the southerners at that time. In reality, he used this against Leo. This actor should be pandering to their biases... such as on the soundtrack. He should be talking exaggerated southern black speak from the era. Doe should be used instead of Door, etc... He was glad to throw leo frank under the bus to get off himself. This is a very good version. Matt, thanks so much for posting it!

  • your welcome : )

  • lol...the reason this website has the comment feature is so that people can state their opinions about the videos people post. if you dont want my opinion as well as many others, dont post videos. ive seen other negative comments on these videos that have also been deleted. and jboy, it definitely is not a university that no one has heard of seeing as how i go to school with 20,000 other people everyday. we also have nationally ranked teams in baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse

  • congrats

  • congrats, redstorm. your opinion has been heard by the glorious number of three people who have commented in response to your comments (and yours will be deleted again, I'm sure). Feel free to not like this performance, but don't tell us about it on here... Because no one wants to hear from you! I'm glad we had this talk.

  • Oh.... wait I looked it up. St.John, great, some dumbass catholic school that no one knows about. Who cares! No wonder you are hatin' on Parade!! Get a life you religious fanatic.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Amen!

  • I just think it's ridiculous that your username is Redstorm because all that makes me think of is either a) you are eleven years old and draw weird pictures of storms and think they are red. Or, b) you are bleeding profusely from your vagina.

  • hahaha! oh my god, favorite youtube comment ever!

  • I keep commenting this because im passionate about theu show. Ive been in it before, as Dorsey. The first time I commented it I wasnt "hating" on anyone. I simply was critiquing the performance. But after my comments kept getting deleted I started to "hate" on this actor because really he isnt very good. He screams way too much, the acting is really bad, and there is no southern accent what so ever...the only word he attempts it on is "door" which comes out at "dough" and sounds ridiculous.

  • Congrats on what I'm sure was a thrilling portrayal of Hugh Manson Dorsey. If your comments kept getting deleted, did it not click that you just shouldn't comment anymore? Sorry if you don't respect a new interpretation of a character. Clearly you never met Jim Conley seeing as he's well... dead. I'm glad you're passionate about this show. I am too. But I say this for myself and anyone. No one really cares what redstorm2357 cares about Nik Walker. You're like a goth kid hating on Streisand....

  • @redstorm2357 There's a difference between critique and flat out insulting. I suggest you learn the difference before you get in a debate on youtube.

  • So "redstorm", this is your 4th comment on this video? You must feel so passionate about hating on this actor.Let's join a strike together(as we both have nothing better to do with our time than comment on youtube videos and check back a few hours later to make sure they are still there) and get this nik guy arrested. Then, we can sing a duet together and sound so much better than him because I know both of our high G's are better than THAT . Call me sometime and we will make plans! (212)6602245

  • Listen, Red Storm. Wait... sorry, Redstorm? What are you, five? Are you even allowed to access Youtube?? Whatever. Clearly, you are suffering from a combination of retardation and some sort of stroke. So hop back in that wheelchair, go play with your crayons, and when you have recovered find a job where a company will be willing to hire you. Peace out asshole.

  • lol...i have written 3 negative comments on this video as well as the chain gang video and theyve been deleted every time...its obvious that you dont know how to take criticism...maybe grow up a little?...ill say again that this video just isnt very good at all...the acting is awful...the singing is ok...but the jim conley sounds like hes from the ghetto in the streets of new york city (not georgia)...if you wanna see how Jim Conley should be played search: Mark Weeks That's What He Said

  • HAHA SKYLAR!!!! (i went to 3:12 to see who 'johnvaljean' was talking about and highly recommend you do as it is actually the most hilarious thing ever)

  • Aren't the tutti "hang him!" hits in the end with the chorus supposed to be actual notes rather than just yells??

  • it got too "rock star" at the end... not directed well. not acted very well. but sung very well!

  • well, lol, nik is kind of a rock star. can u do better?

  • Lol I played in the pit for this musical a couple of years ago. My favorite moment was just cut off..."Objection goddammit, objection!" lol

  • amen!

    -luther rosser

  • LOL!!! That was so funny.... man i miss playing

  • It is amazing. at 3:12 there's one actor in the ensemble. blue shirt, glasses, great actor. every ensemble needs actors like that. I love shows were ensemble members can act just as good as leads.

  • One of the most difficult roles in musical theatre history done to near-perfection. Amazing job, Nik!
