@billruller Throughout the movie, as Billy wears the pendant (and uses the gun), a sore starts developing on his chest (where the pendant sits.) He goes to the doctor, who removes it, and it turns out to be a piece of living metal. Despite its removal, Billy still 'transforms' whenever the pendant is placed on his chest. The pendant is transforming his body while he wears it, I suppose.

Hope that made some sense.
