Gus Edwards was my great great uncle , I have been hearing about him my whole life from my grandmother .Thanks to the internet I have realized all his accomplishments .. I couldn't believe all he has done ... Look on my page I actually have some videos of him from the 20s : ) By the way ,,My name is Mitch Edwards .. And it was because of him it was changed from a Jewish last name
A joy to see. The clip inspires for me nostalgia, perspective on life and events in the world since then as well as a deeper appreciation for Clark Gables talents and his role in American cinema of that period.
Daaaaaaang! Ain't it great to live in America and to be able to see how fabulous Hollywood was? That's pretty wonderful footage! ... Look what we have today......???
I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my latest one on some top 1930's movie star legends on trading cards. They include: Clark Gable, James Cagney, Mae West, Marlene Dietrich, Maurice Chevalier, Gary Cooper, Buster Keaton, Lilian Harvey, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford ....

My great great uncle wrote the song "BY the light of the silvery moon " Crazy but very true : )

@Mitch0115 Was your uncle Gus Edwards or Edward Madden? In either case, the song
is a wonderful piece of Americana. Was the title of a Doris Day movie when I was young.
No vaudeville show could have afforded a cast as large as in the clip. Especially one
with Clark Gable in it.
Clark did a couple of dance numbers through the years. Two actors who started out as
hoofers on Broadway were George Raft and Clifton Web.
thanks for the fun post.

This is from his 1939 appearance in "Idiot's Delight", one of the few opportunities to see Gable as a "song and dance man"...
