I don't think using the current technology the drilling of Alaskan oil field is that wise. War over oil security is going to happen anyway, whether we like it or not. The solution towards the lack of oil supply, is not simple as getting more oil, but rather use less oil and looking towards alternative energy forms. Maybe USA should have better public transport systems. USA right now has one of the the slowest train network in the world, even China has upgraded the average the passenger trains.

US Army is the world police. It works on readiness of deploy to any global corner by air or sea. They are not given the duty to help American people.

Suggestion to PLA:

Saving trapped people needs more than bare hands, but machinery to do heavy lifting. Need more than airforce and choppers.

IF trucks can not go in, Tanks can. PLA Tanks go anywhere when ordered. A tank is a powerful engine, better than a bulldozer. An army engineer can use the very basic LEVER principle to turn this engine into a Crane almost instantly. Some steel pipes will do, I'd imagine

This will work a lot better that a parade thru a square.

As soon as the road extends into mountain area, one side is the literally vertical cliff which is kilometers high, another side is the rapid flowing river (even in normal days, you can hear rocks rolling down at the bottom of the river), and in the between of these two things, the road is merely two cars wide.

the 50 ton of the tank would surely mean the unstable slope would slid and everything would end up in the river below... the only thing that China can do is air drop the heavy machinery, which is pretty much impossible because China's airlifter are not designed for lifting large equipments like the US Galaxy transporter can... China's version is even inferior the American Hercules in many respects. Also the turbulence near the mountain makes such a airdrop extremely unstable...

It is a mission impossible to air drop any thing.. its continuous deep valley among high moutains.. I am talking about altitude of 4000 to 5000 m. The only possible risky way is to use heavy lifting helicopters like Mi-26 or CH-47.. but even these helicopters (even China ever had them) probably wont find any safe landing place in those narrow valley. It is completely different from Afgan or Vietnam in terms of terrain
