  • Can you tell me how you were able to video record the weld without blur?

  • i looked away and closed my eyes when you did your tack... thought about flash burn for a second...

  • Flat plane wtf? a monkey could do that.

  • I don't think you would want an inspector to see any of your welds period, that is some of the worst arc welding I've seen in a long time and I live on a farm!

  • lol this guy knows nothing... honestly... u dont wip and pause with a 7018... ull get slag inclusion.. u only wip and pause 6010.. goood luck passing a bend test dumbsht

  • @95347stroker.... Stroker, go back to stroking yourself. If you watch the video, he is wipping with the e6010, then comes back with a 7018 and doesn't whip that rod. You retard! I liked the videos. I just love all of these self-proclaimed arm-chair wanna be welders talkn shit. PUT UP YOUR VIDEOS and let's see how retarded your stringers look! Jack ass.

  • awesome. I am new to SMAW I usually handled MIG, and I want to practice SMAW.

It helps me a lot for having an idea. for me as a beginner this is great. thanks. upload more videos

  • You got the right idea man but the root was bad hotpass was not great and your cap was not pretty, but you get an A for effort keep burnin man.

  • holy shit! you are trying to sell this trash to people.... I guess your welds are uniform, they all look like shit! and that was the easyiest weld position possible. Sorry to say but if you layed that weld on an interview with me I would have stopped after one pass and this vidio could have been the best of 25 welds.... Some times the truth hurts...

  • One thing Ive learned from watching welding clips,is welders cant spell worth a shit.

  • @NAMTRIP haha my welding teach. is dislecsic or however u spell that lol.

  • ok, here's the go, your root pass needs more deposit on the back of the plate, push your rod in more. your hot pass was fecking horrible, if you can see individual platelets of weld on your hot pass, ITS NOT HOT ENOUGH! run a spray arc on your cap, if you run it hot you get a better finished weld profile. especially with 18's

  • @FarCryFromSanity but if u run a spray pass two hot you'll end up with prosidy (holes in the weld sorry for the spelling) he'd be better off turnin the heat up just a tad and jammin the rod in.....and no thats not what she said lol

  • @bigslickak90 I'd love to stick a vid up one day, but it's more a matter of not having time to piss around at work and or not wanting to weld on weekends

  • dont quit your day job.

  • cat shit

  • some of you guys are just plain fuckin stupid.. talkin shit about welds that look fine. shows what u know.

  • arent you supposed to use more of a side to side motion?

  • @chizzy555 he is, but if you use too much you will get undercut.

  • electrode??? 6011?? 6010??? amperes???? mmm you welder???... omg!

  • LoL U have NO Ran On Ran oFF LoL are u realy a WELDER

  • thats not good ,not in sweden

  • Comment removed

  • 1/8 7018 I usually run 125 amps on heavy steel

  • how do i get the dvds

  • The background on your channel looks like 3D

  • Dude, I'm sorry but your weld looks like ass. I promise you that you have trapped slag through out that whole fill. Maybe you should buy someone elses "Learn to Weld" video's and get yourself up to speed. WOW, just wow!?

  • when i close my eyes it sounds right. when i watch it looks right. i don't see anything cooking out so i know you are clean. i think young welders are taught to grind too much and they don't have the experience with cooking out tiny slag pits. that is a solid weld. it would obviously pass. if i were inspecting i wouldn't even bother to shoot it.

    1/4 rod? oh, okay.

  • co to za porażka he he he

  • Umm, sorry mate, I have done better welds pissed with a 2 setting handyman welder from a hardware joint...

  • Thats one of the ugliest roots I have ever seen. You would fail big time and you wouldnt be able to get passed that.

  • your 7018 looks like garbage... I would have used 1/8 7018 and also your technique for welding up hill is a joke... I wouldn't pay you anything for a DVD... I would pay for you to have some more welding lessons though....

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....sin comentarios.

  • your work reminds me of they guys i weld with at work that are laid off right now.

  • if you want to hire a welder call me lol

  • Where do you do a test that starts vert 5G and you cap off 2G.???

  • Going to fast, sucked back root,FAIL big time.

Drop your amps, and go a little slower.

  • djy a dumb greenhand, no wonder, 6010 with a miller, lincoln 80-90 is fine

speed is good myabe a bit cooler thats it

  • i have tried to get footage of a weld and it was either to bright or to dark i do things somewhat different than you do but i like a hot machine to kudos on the footage you can really see whats happening

  • @thebear009 use an auto darkening helmet for the cam...

  • I think this is a good video, this is where we all start at with plate on a welding table or bench,we need more quality videos like this, good job thanks joe

  • everything has to be perfect to a drag 6010 rod. everything!

  • When your putting down the cover pass it looks like your almost pushing the rod instead of dragging it. Isnt 7018 a drag rod. If it was vertical up I would understand but at the end of the video it looks like its in the flat position.

  • good looking welds, something that I have come across while taking weld tests is that often you will not be allowed to use a grinder or wire wheel while testing. that sort of scenario is where you really learn if you have your skills together or not. Really cool vid, I like actually showing people exactly what welding is, most don't realize just how much finesse is required. Good Job!

  • Were you useing 6010 1/8 for the root pass?

  • what type of welding machine are you using ? i noticed your arc is really smooth, the ones we use at the welding school give me arc blow like crazy/

  • how do you run a 6010 like a 7018 on the root past?? i would love to learn that bc i hate stepping 6010's better yet i hate the rod period lol.

  • No Shane I am sorry. You don't have a clue.

1/4" rod, dude where did you come up with that crazy idea.

    I am using 1/8" 6010 and 3/32" 7018. Cmon man!

    Good luck mister. LOL!

  • think about this idea. what is the difference in welding a root on a pipe or a plate? why couldn't you use the stuff and drag method on plate just like you would on a pipe weld?

that is what I demonstrated. the root on the back of the plate was fine with no whipping stepping extra energy. I just stuffed the rod through like I made a pipe weld. sorry I jumped on you about the 1/4"

  • cool i'll bring my camra in friday! hey! look up..... tig pipe dorks....not the best but just new at this u tube stuff. u can see the weld going in though!

  • wow.. i'm going to have to to make a root pass vidio and show you a good one!

  • Hey that sounds great. Look forward to seeing it. Good luck.

  • I coudn't live with myself without my amps over a hundreed....

  • @randy4536... It's been two year! Still waitn to see your "bitchen" video. Where is it jack ass? [cricketts......cricketts....... cricketts......] Thaaaat's what we thought, chump!

  • im on 6013 2,5 on a 6 mil plate but joint i have passed most of my course but the but is taking longer becouse i keep blowing out or not enouth weld bead :( so im happy at the moment becouse im improve over time people with stick are still learning i know i have long way only after three weeks of course and only 5 weeks left

  • Feivel69 yeah your weak and and it seem that you will learn the hard way. In fact you are on the yellow brick road to the hard school of knock with welding. Your probably already getting it in school but are too dumb to know it. That is why you are using 1/4" rod only three weeks into the course. They are just saying yeh what a dumb ass.1st thing is you never diss a person that is helping you.2nd a true welder does not compare welds.A weld inspector compares.last time I read yur green

  • actually, I have passed more tests than you have been alive I am sure. There is no undercut whatsoever on these welds.

I will say that working with a camera directly over your shoulder and lighting in your face did make my welds not as smooth as I would like them. All you critics out there have absolutely no clue about what it takes to film and produce something like this. If you were using 1/4" welding rod you are brain dead. LOL My goodness man, you would burn up the common plate test!!!

  • you are great! don't mind the jelaous comments!

  • i am 47 yrs old. i've been welding for close to thirty yrs. in the last 6 monthes i have passed 2 6g PQ's and 3 6g WQT's on stick, flux core, and stainless tig. anytime i am given the chance to learn or improve my technique or knowledge i am greatful for it. Michael is pretty good. 1/4" 7018? dude! seriously? awesome.

Check me out on you tube "merryoldehangman"

  • thats because you dont use a 7018 for a root you use a 6011 or 6010 which i run mine on 92 im 17 been in college for 9 mouths im working on stick vert & overhaed right now ( i made an A- on my vert bc ive already took the course but im not satisfied with it so im doing it again you try to weld a open root with a 7018 and ee how long you last and another i belive i can weld better than you bud ive been doin it 4 12 hours a day 4 days a week and 5 hr on friday for 9 months now just stick

  • also ...... im still in high school last year b4 i started college i woke up at 5:30 4 times a week to meet my shop teacher at the high school so i could get sum practice in b4 all the freshman came in and i had to teach them im not shitting you im going to make something of my life im not going to end up like most ppl down here in south GA do when i get out in the field welding i want the old journeymen to respect me but mostly i want to amaze the hell out of them by what i can do

  • another thing dude i think you just earned the title of DICK. i bust my ass hes damn good and trying to help you ........ you know what i think ill give you an up grade your now an ASSHOLE

  • @Feivel69 ive been welding for about 5 years or so and if theres one thing ive learned its this....its not about how beautiful your weld looks its about the penotration (sorry i know the spelling is bad) you could weld a beautiful weld on 1/4 inch plate and it break every time and u can run the worst lookin weld ever and it pass a bend test and x-ray every time let me put some of your weld and some of my welds in the bender and we'll see who's good

  • one of the biggest things to remember is the sound if it dosent sound like a rocket ship when your welding the root you most likley not penitrating enough

  • well when you drag your rod to start it off you shouldn't be doing it where you're welding 'cause you're going to leave some crap where you are going to wel and it can contamiate where you're going to weld and make it weaker

  • Those are some damn good gloves.

  • I try dis using my dad's welder. wen im done but it loolike komodo skin

  • some classic whip n pause :O)

  • eu trenando fica melhor.

  • "im just gunna put a quick layer of 7018 in there *hauks a loogy*" 3:35

  • ummm sorry but these welds aint very pretty they look like crap but ok w/e works with u man

  • kinda rough guy

  • It doesent look good at all, what kind of standards do you have in USA? Your first string did'nt penetrate enough! And i think i can see some binding errors.

  • Yes there is a slight landing on it. The gap is about 3/32" and I use the stuff and drag method.

  • watched your tig vids and they are very intresting but the welds in this vid dont look all that impresive . lac of pen and you say you use stuff and drag but the rod looks to be at the wrong angle . keep the vid coming though as some are very good

  • okay. im still on it but now its my cap thats gettin me i have undercut on the sides am i going to fast or what?

  • undercut is also associated with angle, that is, how high or low above the weldment your electrode is pointing.

Speed can also be a factor, make sure your angle isn't favoring one side, and take the necessary time to let your puddle do it's job and fill up.

I know this because I've finally gotten my hot pass and cap under control myself.

  • lol thanks congrats on gettin it. im lamost there.. this has given me soo much trouble.. im ready to be on pipe

  • are you putting landings on yours? if so, how wide and what size gap do you have? im having trouble with my 3g v-groove i cant get my root in very well. and when i do, my hot pass always looks messed up.

  • If you did 7018 stick all positions angels and all

low-hydrogen electrodes you would be shielded

metal arc welding master! Now that's the stick

welding videos I what to see.

  • That is great to hear. I am glad I could help you. Keep up the good work.

  • I think these videos are amazing, and I can really control my weld pools better just from some of these vids!

  • Yummmmy! mmm. 3:40!

  • It is normally somewhere around 30 to 33 Degrees.

Same as a pipe bevel. The ones I did were hand bevels since I didn't buy pre cut testing plates. They cost more money.

I used 3/8"x4" Strap and cut my lengths to about 6" and put a bevel by eye on them.

  • what is the bevel angle??? tnx, cheers for sharing

    :)

  • what is the material and position of the plates and what rods are you using...?

  • The material is carbon and the positions are vertical, overhead, and horizontal. The rods are 6010 5p+++++ 1/8" and 3/32" 7018

  • Oh I don't know. I just didn't use any. I have taken tests where you didn't have to use a run off. If you bend the specimen you won't use the first inch of each side of your coupon anyway

  • why no run off plates if this is supposed to be a test piecewould save grinding out stop starts ..good vid though..cheers

  • are you videos more information than they are in the youtube vids? if they are i would look into buying them
