@atmospherepro a definitive NO. I would strongly recommend starting with DROD: Architect Edition. It's free and you should google it out without problems. This episode is very hard. It's obvious from the very start that it was made for fans of the series, with a lot of experience with this type of gameplay. I completed DROD AE and it still kicked me around pretty much on the starting rooms :)
trust me, its brilliant. oh, and i cant remember, you know the citizens in this game? do they attack you or do are they stationary? Im doing a walkthrough soon!

Slimm tom here, DROD is indeed a great game! I am playing it now for over 1,5 years, and I still love it! There's also a slight different DROD game coming out in the next half year, the DROD RPG, so check it out when it's finished!
Hi. As someone who goes by "Chaco" on the DROD forum, I'll add another positive testimonial to this page and say that DROD TCB is a great puzzle game.
I'll add that even if the stepping style of puzzle in the default level sets isn't appealing, the engine is really powerful and with things like variables and scripting, it's possible to make the game play quite different in a custom level set.
Actually, if you want a taste of what the series is like, there is an older 'Architect's Edition' of the first game available for free on the programmer's site.
(Google "Deadly Rooms of Death" when you get the chance)
Keep in mind, though, that the later levels can be pretty tough - I made it as far as level 22 (out of 25) before I eventually gave up.
It was fun while it lasted, though. ^_^
And there are plenty of other 'holds' for when you finish the original.
