Kids, this is how NOT to pass vehicles on a bike a bike- at least when passing parallel vehicles. His speed was conservative, but his passing technique is what ratchets up the car vs motorcycle statistics.(I work as a first responder) Assume that NONE of the car/truck operators see you. All it takes is one of them to make a mistake, so create a buffer that gives you an escape route.

@DCxUnLiMiTeD I drove mid around town and it was ideal. I also took it out to Colorado (live in Omaha) in the back of my pickup truck. I drove it in the mountains west of Pueblo and the bike loved it on the two lane roads.

Don't buy a blast if you want to wheelie. Way too little Torque. Buells are built for realistic use more than stunting i think hehe.  The XB-9x and XB-12R can wheelie without a problem though. And yeah all those ppl are jerks, I drive like that every day ';..;'

The driver is a Jerk? You're riding too fast in a neighborhood, you're obstructed by a silver car at 1:41, and coming out of a curve -- when was he suppose to see you? At 5:02 and 8:04 you switch lanes in a turn. At 5:38, you lane-split and switch lanes in an intersection. At 6:32 you do a lane-split on a braking truck, and power thru. You didn't know why he was braking -- an animal or debris could have been in the road. You're a totally unsafe rider.

actually they are going to be producing new blasts the only thing that is changing is that the buell name is coming off of them...so they will be just called blasts...at least thats what they told me at the harley davidson where i took my MSF class

The exaust is pretty much just one expansion chamber with no filtering, so thats why its so loud. The cops always come complain when i start it up while working on it in front of my house cuz i have a crazy neighbor who calls them...but they cant really do anything.

The quality is actually very good.

The performance is very low end though.

Still it has never failed to start, and i still ride it every day.

Someone told me the exhaust is a Vance and Hane's but im not sure.

Yes it is a two seater, but i wouldn't want to be on back :P

And No i have never gotten in a wreck, and I've been riding for about 10 months daily (with a 5 month break between)

The bike has an autochoke. In the morning when its cold out (like the day i filmed) it idles real high for about a minute or until you warm it up. then it slows back down.

Hi, I am into the sportsbike segment, and for my MSF course next week, they offer this bike as one of the rides we can use.

Do you recommend this as a good start for that category (want to get a NInja 500r or 650r later on)?

I wouldnt call it exactly a sportbike. Its pretty weak on the power side, but for a beginner, this bike is insanely easy to ride. Ive never ridden the ninja 500, only bikker bikes, but i hear they are a bit higher revving. I would say this bike has a much wider powerband than others ive ridden. definitely good to learn on :)

I just perchased an 05 blast this week. Has only 1500 miles on the odometer. Rode it around the block a few times and I love this thing. She sometimes shut off after initial warm up. I'll have to work on that one. The previous owner put some funky headlight assembly on it and discarded the oem one so now I have to buy the proper headlight. Like your vid. Maybe I'll do one for my channel.

It locks out at 95, Ive had it there several times, wont go over that, the engine governs it out. 0-60 in maybe around 9-10 seconds? im not sure never tested it.

It depends on the muffler, but stock I'd still place it closer to a harley, Its definitely a thumper. Its a nice bike, you'll get better mileage on the ninja though.

The Buell is better for the money. The Ninja 250 doesn't have a whole lot of power but its enough, especially for a new rider. I'm hoping to pick up an 2001 Blast in a little bit.

I have a Blast and I was thinking of putting the Line-X coating on... how is it holding up .. have you had any problems with it?... is it easy to clean? does the coating stay on the plastic?

Its great! it makes the plastics more rigid, so they fit really tightly on the tank/frame, but they are GREAT for bumps and scratches, the plastic underneath remains completely unharmed/cracked If your'e a new rider I'd definitely reccomend it. and yes it stays on the plastic like white on rice.
