  • This is one of the songs I never can forget. Over the years. For me it's the illusion of eternity love. It is not imaginary but there is no reason to match it. That's life or only one woman that was missing.

  • I like both versions , genes is a littlee grittier than grahams but hey still good x

  • .CAN YOU ECPLAIN THIS SONG TO ME IM CONFUSED 10 INDIANS GOT TO DO WITH 1 WOMEN

  • mARVELLOUS.....

  • Never heard with him before!

  • Who is the guitarist on this track? what year did this come out?

  • Thanks for posting this. I've never heard it before and enjoyed it very much.

  • Only a very few - and I mean a very few - male singers are given the ability/talent to sing powerfully above C4 (this note is a turning point for me and for many other singers too), and - with all my respects - Gene Pitney is not one of them. Freddie Mercury for example. But if you really want something marvellous, just listen to Graham Bonnet's version. That guy could reach notes that even Freddie couldn't.

  • I think Gene Pitney had a better voice than both of the other singers you mentioned .He was he greatest of all times. There will not be another singer that has a voice so unique and beautiful as Gene Pitney .

  • shame the bee gees did'nt sing this them-selves as they not only one of the best song writers but also very good singers!! (harmony). from early to late stuff!!

  • You know, this was really different for gene to record, but I don't think it is the tragedy you all make it out to be. Let's face it, compared to some of the music we hear today, this is great. At least you can understand him and he does have a good voice. I wouldn't choose this song if I could choose any of his, but it isn't all that bad. that's my opinion so please don't blast me for it. We are all entiltled to our favorites.

  • @upwards11 yes everyone is entitled to there own opinion thats what make the world go round

  • GP should be shot for this.... Bonnet rules!!

  • You should be shot for this.

  • LOL!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!!! (sarcasm)

  • Why Did He Ever Record This

    Great Man & Great Talent

    But Arrangement Is Terrible

    As Is The Sound

    Just Cannot Understand Why ///

    The Man Was A Perfectionist

    But Recorded This

  • Graham Bonnet.

  • I was expecting better. Sure Pitney has a good range but that is all he has. He really lacks everything else. This version is total mediocrity. It's awful. His singing is so stilted and lacks a kind of smooth melodic flow. His voice sounds overly nasal too. Yuk, yuk, yuk

Graham Bonnet originally sung this song. Frankly, he is a better singer in every conceivable way. Pitney only proves that Bonnet will never be topped. Bonnet hit the high notes more sweetly and fully than Pitney ever could

  • And Bonnet sang this a whole tone higher!

  • Thanks for this detail rideon77. I think it's conclusive that Bonnet's version is the best.

  • No, that's just your opinion.

  • vaughly remember this song never knew anything about it or gene singin it thanx Brent441

  • This is a Bee Gees song, the genius of the brothers gibb

  • this song is class, i think slade could do a good job of this one, its mint as tits man

    keep it up

  • NOTE; Click on (more info) to see the LYRICS to this great song...Please let me know of any omissions or errors...Thank You :>)

  • Declan Galbraith has recorded a great cover of this song.

  • he never song it

  • yes he did check out his albums

  • Ace song Great version from Gene Pitney

  • If I remember correctly Nigel Olson from Elton John's band had a minor hit with this in the 70's.

  • I love Pitney... but he sounds kinda stiff on this great great rock ballad.

  • How do you " sound stiff "???

  • i like this song

  • Ten little Indians...STAND IN A ROW

And this is INDEED a Gibb tune.

  • Thank You for your input...It has been corrected...

  • the best. love the song and Gene's amazing voice.

  • Didn't Barry Gibb write this?

  • I dont think it was Barry Gibb. I bought this single in the late 60's by a group called the marbles

  • Just did a little research on line. This song was apparently written by Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb. So I was slightly off.

  • The story I got from a Graham Bonnett interview is that Barry gave him the melody. The lyrics and high parts Bonnett sings in the song (as the Marbles) were added for interest. The Bee Gees always shared song writing credit, except when they split, so it would be natural for Barry, Robin and Maurice to be noted as the songwriters.

  • Graham Bonnet? The guy from Rainbow/The Michael Schenker Group/ Alcatraz?

LOL. Always liked that guy. He's out there playing with swashbuckling rock stars like Ritchie Blackmore and Ingwie Malmsteen and he's sporting a GQ haircut and a pink suit.

  • Bonnet never wore a pink suit, in fact he didn't wear a suit at all...mostly white trousers..hawaiian shirt..and shades.

Blackmore used to hide his clothes before a concert by Bonnet always got them back.

  • 1984 at the Hollywood Palace (corner of Hollywood and Vine across from the Capitol Records Building). Local rock band "Ratt" had a free concert to celebrate their signing to a major label. The support act was Alcatraz whose front man , one Graham Bonnet, was sporting a pink suit.

I was there, saw it with my own eyes. Thought it was cool in a campy sort of way.

  • Ah ..Ok..I meant when he was with Rainbow..as Blackmore would never have stood for it.

    My Apologies.

  • No need to apologize. The story about Blackmore hiding his clothes was a classic!

  • I always thought Joe Lynn Turner was the campiest of Rainbow's singers..I've seen him look quite effeminate on some videos.

    Great voice though.

  • Have you ever seen the "Ice Cold" video? Joe Lynn's facial expressions were hilarious. I used to laugh at loud at that video. Great voice though, as you said.

  • Oh wait, my bad. It was "Stone Cold". Sorry. It's been 25 years since I heard it. :)

  • Yes i have seen it..on youtube, it is quite funny.

25 years since you heard Stone Cold..wow.

Interesting you called it Ice Cold..people said Rainbow with Joe sounded like Foreigner..and they did a song called..

    Cold As Ice.

  • Just checked out the Marbles. Graham Bonnett's voice was amazing! Dude must have done a lot of drugs between then and the late 70's. The clip included this mini bio:

"Trevor Gordon and Graham Bonnet were cousins who first played in The Blue Sect. Trevor soon moved off the Australia where he recorded with The Bee Gees but would eventually be lead back to England. The Marbles were one of Robert Stigwood's first signings. Their only hit "Only One Woman" was penned by the Brothers Gibb (more)"

  • Thank You for sharing this. A LEGEND!!!

He's been my favorite for many years. Lots of memories!

  • I love this man.....

  • indeed! and thanks for posting this!

  • A nice and a great song! Thank you Gene Pitney!!!
